Shopping for soil. Is a nursery as dangerous as a hydro shop visit?

Just make sure you have a car port so thows noise naibors wont think anything of thows bails going into the house... unless you have shit loads of house plants and a greenhouse built onto it ...

You don't need to be worried about some soil.
However - take caution, be smart, and don't go in and buy all the shit at once, i.e. nutrients lights lightbulbs and soil w/ pots ranging from 1/2 gal to 10gal. The one tip different local growers have given me is never buy anything with the lights, but you can buy tons of soil and nutrients together.

If i were a police chief, and my officers were hanging out in front of a hydro store to try to find growers... i would be wasting my budget. I understand your security concerns but think about it... how often do you see the 5-0 sitting on the side of the road in areas that are prime targets for speeding (bottom of a hill, town border speed change)? not that often....
they have bigger fish to fry. the most conservative areas of the country that hate the long hairs... have meth problems in trailer parks to worry about.
quick story. i live in a med state, in a ski town with a high per capita smoker rate. I went into a hardware store, and asked for some 4x8 plywood and what the price difference is for 1/2" vs 3/8". The guy asked me what i was using it for, I said "simple Non-loadbearing construction" and he immediately says "well if you are only building a false-wall, go with the 3/8" "......
I was speechless. then i thought about it, every person building a grow room/box goes to that hardware store.
dont worry. the best thing you can do is not tell a single soul... or move.

its a business. they want to sell soil not narc people out. i dont think nursery workers are running to the phone to rat on anyone who buys dirt.

It is extremely dangerous to visit a nursery or a hydro store. They are the same and everyone could possibly know of your foul intentions.
My advice would have to be to gather yourself a clever disguise like oj simpson or something along these lines. Carefully pace inconspicuously in front of the nursery until you are absolutely certain the coast is in fact clear. When approaching an employee of the nursery for help, under your breath, whisper the secret phrase, "the eagle has landed and is up early for the worms". If he is not the police you will be rewarded with your dirt as this is a foolproof way of catching the fuzz in their ignorant vulnerability.
If the employee looks puzzled my advice is to get outta there fast, shed the disguise, take your 100 dollars, and move to West Virginia to plan your family's future.
