Shell casings stuck on seedlings

It seems to be strain dependent to a certain extent. As an example, all 15 of my MrNice La Niña needed help getting rid of the seedcoat. In contrast, none of my 2 Female seeds C99 nor 3 CBD Crew Sweet and Sour widow required my assistance. All grown under the same setup at the same time.

I never could figure out what causes stuck shells.

Anyways.. I get them closer to the light, and if that doesnt encourage them to shed, I just get a couple of toothpicks and pry the shell off.. my fat fingers lack the precision needed, therefore the toothpicks.

I'll have to try some of the techinques myself mentioned in the thread.. I had alot of problems with some femmed White Widow seeds. Seemed like they all needed help, and had a total lack of vigor in comparison to the Jack Herrer strain.

I've had that problem before also, what I do is take a small piece of paper towel 1/2" by 1/2' wet it, lay it over the seed casing, then I keep wetting it using a eye dropper (the paper towel keeps the moisture on the shell longer) after a day or so it should solfen the shell enough to pop it off. good luck :plant grow:
