Sounds like a reason to keep checking back to see if the breeding forum has gotten readable yet.

I think the main problem with the so called breeder' s forum is that there is a need for a separate forum for the average member to discuss genetics and strains, etc. On Overgrow this forum was titled Strains and Hybridization which distinguished it from the breeders lab. I would personally prefer to see the establishment of a "Strains and Hybridisation" forum to replace the current main function of the breeder's forum. The breeders forum can then be left intact and assume its originally intended role.

Ez nailed it though. If you had a forum for all the "name that plant" threads and questions about specific varieties that werent really concerned with genetics the forum would be much more readable.

It isnt just the forum though.

Nearly every thread has a bunch of posts that just make them a PITA to wade through to find the discussion. With the size of the population here, you will need multiple moderators on top of keeping all the threads on topic. That will make the biggest difference.

The other option would be to exclude a large part of the population but I think thats a bad idea. The laymen bring some of the best questions to forums like these and thats how people learn. In my opinion, explaining things to laymen also helps the"experts" learn.

One of the first tasks of your team of moderators, in my opinion, would be to seperate the applicable threads from the current collection in the forum and then clean them up. You would probably have a pretty good start to the forum with just that work.

I nominate OGbub.

I don't think a seed vendor should be a moderator outside of their vendor forum.

Don't get me wrong, I like OGBUB.

But, what would happen if his own breeding techniques came into question? or DJ shorts? or Rezdog's? If they were the mods. Any conflict of interest would be a bad thing.

I like JLP as a mod because he doesn't sell seeds, he gives them away. However, he might need some more help to keep up with the workload.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree it would be great to get to the intricacies of the real art of breeding foir traits and not just a bunch of pollen chucking experiments mixed in.
The other day while medicated, I also evisioned more subdivisions to some very broad forums, which would make searching for things easier. The search function just doesn't find alot of stuff I'm searching for, because there is so much grouped into some of the forums...

I see your point but I think its important that someone(s) with some knowledge of genetics are working the forum. I dont know JLP maybe he is qualified too. Like i said this forum will rewuire a group. No offense but the place is a mess right now.

Great Idea, It would also be cool if a subforum was added to it. Sumthing along the lines of a frankenstiens closet. Where the breeders running huge #s of beans could showcase the things that went wrong and turned out really right. Accidental pollenation, Mutants,Trifoliates, Polyploids, and (SUPER STRAINS) they may find along the way. That way they could post pics of new finds and people could come back and compare pics as clones start getting out. Anyway was just a thought, really love stuff like that and its allways spread out everywhere.

I'd like to see a breeding forum and a strains forum for people to discuss and ask questions about specific strain growth and smoke characteristics. It seems to me the the current breeding forum is being used for both purposes.

I was just thinking about this the other day, having seperate Strains & Hybridization and Breeders forums.

This site is getting bigger all the time,we're gaining a new member every few minutes now and the site has to expand along with the membership.

In my opinion,Sam the Skunkman is the one to moderate the Breeder's forum.

Yes, yes, absolutely yes!
It's time to go over F2s discussions and open up some serious biology books!
I would apply the same rules that there were in OG with the best threads moved into it. No wars, no shit, just science!
I support Sam as mod. and propose Chimera too.

I suppose my only concern about the names floated around thus far is the amount of time they'll be able to commit. Obviously knowledgable folks though...

Perhaps some (or all) of them could be the brains behind the operation, with some other folks working as the brawn?

thats what i was thinking....the mods would have to be people that are almost online daily or atleast a couple times a week.

Solid idea. I won't post in there..unless I actually work on a cross. But not even just some polyhybrid..but like 3 or 4 generations or more. It'll be a great read, though.

....Great News!!

....Soon this Breeders Forum will be re-named 'Strains and Hybrids'.........and there will also be a 'Breeder's Laboratory' forum created that will only contain threads from the current Breeder's Forum (and soon to be re-named 'Strains and Hybrids').......The threads that will make it to the new 'Breeders Laboratory' forum will be chosen to be placed there by J.L.P.....and 2 new I.C.Mag moderators............

The new 'Breeder's Laboratory' as well as the 'Strains And Hybrids' forums will be overseen and moderated by Suzy Creamcheese,(welcome on-board Suzy!) J.L.P......and (we are so honored).... Sam_Skunkman !!....who will have the power to move threads from S&H to the higher ground of the 'Breeders Laboratory'.......if they are so deemed worthy....

.....*does that make sense?
