I have been checking out the Breeders Forum lately and have seen that there seems to be alot of clutter in that the serious breeders have to wade thru alot of chaff to get to the meat......so to speak...

So I propose that what should be done is to create a new 'Breeders Laboratory' forum for the seasoned and serious breeders to discuss the intricacies of preserving and procreating the plant......

....Yes.....or No?......Let's have your vote!

Hy Gypsy,

I think this is a great idea.

I would love to see it just like the OG forum of old, where serious breeding and genetics threads where moved to the Breeders lab by the moderator to form a lasting resource of valuable discussion. It was a fantastic resource and library, I also thought it was the best way to organise the breeders section and keep threads very on topic in a serious moderated forum.

With teachers around of the ilk of Sam the Skunkman i think this us a great idea. Much of what was posted back at O.G was lost of course to the community and as we know, that isn't going to happen here, so there is a great opportunity to rebuild the library!

Peace, hhf

Yes, I would like to see the most experienced/educated people here get there own forum.

The question is, how will you keep the people who think they are educated (but in actuality are speaking out of their ass) from posting their false information in this forum?

I think it'd be a good idea. Having a forum for serious breeders to have an open discussion about more advanced topics would make a serious learning tool for everyone interested in breeding. I'm not sure if it should be a closed forum by invite only as far as posting, if I rememberr correctly the breeders lab on og was an open forum and still seemed to function quite well. The thing that will obviously make or break the forum is the amount of participation by serious breeders. Lately I've noticed that many breeders are posting less and less but maybe that would change if given their own forum. It won't work if breeders only post once a month or so, it'd be like giving a party where nobody showed up.

I think the main problem with the so called breeder' s forum is that there is a need for a separate forum for the average member to discuss genetics and strains, etc. On Overgrow this forum was titled Strains and Hybridization which distinguished it from the breeders lab. I would personally prefer to see the establishment of a "Strains and Hybridisation" forum to replace the current main function of the breeder's forum. The breeders forum can then be left intact and assume its originally intended role.

I think it is an excellent Idea... Perhaps even subdividing the current breeders forum into a 'Strains and Crosses' section and a 'Breeders Lab' section...
Alot of good input on this thread so far, btw...

GN, Thanks for keeping our best interests at heart. Maybe its just the way I've been feeling lately but there hasn't been much of interest in the breeders forum this week. Its great to know your paying attention!

Looks pretty unanimous so far...:)

Interesting proposal - mainly as I'm no breeder yet, and would probably barely class as a 'pollen-chucker', but I would certainly appreciate a forum like this, and would definitely wish to contribute, as I have lots of ideas, but little practical experience.

So would I qualify for membership if it were a closed forum? And who decides? :)

some of the best readin i ever did was at the lab on OG. was alot of shit slingin back then, but were great debates. Hybe, Vic, steve, all the guys that arent around much anymore.

if we had a serious breeders forum, you wouldnt have to worry about uneducated posts, as a peep postin halfassed ideas, usually got tore apart, LOL.

definitly worth a try.

I voted no because I felt bad for poor, pitiful "no." So unloved.

In reality, it sounds like a decent idea... but I also like Ezra's suggestion, breeder's forums always seem to be the place people turn for advice on what strain they should buy, or endless discussions of what some strain they're considering buying is made-up of... etc. It makes it harder for those who want actual breeding discussion to find what they want, and inevitably people get bored and give-up. And of course, it would be good for those folks who want to ask the kinds of questions that make the rest of us nuts if they had a place they could ask their questions without getting in the way.

So... maybe both? Or maybe providing a better place for those questions that don't really belong (in my mind) in the b&g section would help solve the issue?

Maybe just set up a 'Kush' section instead, and that might solve most of the problems in one fell swoop...:)

people thnk its a place to ask about a strain.. its in the condition it is now because everyone has the quick explanation for everyone else.

as long as were all playin nicey nice and not gettn down to buisness it wont be serious..

unles theres a dedicated mod moving worthy threads otherwise it would be flaming to get worthless stuff out of the forum. and esp with more breeders and such on the forum. theycant be looking bad infront of all of us becasue of some obnoxious punk is bringing out the worst. so if theres any implication of a threat alot of valuable info is lost avoiding confranation.

that by no means my answer, im not sure hpw it would turn out and am caught up thinking of that, such is my nature
