Just some advice and ideas. I'm not an experienced grower, but i'm very familiar with warehouse leases & construction, inspections, and all that fun stuff.

I would never flower inside a industrial warehouse unless I owned it and I was able to section off a small portion of the warehouse for flowering. The warehouse must have some kind of business use. I know others can claim that it's for personal use and skip some inspections, but a "personal use" warehouse running 20k+ watts of lights is a red flag. Commercial/industrial buildings do not have the same privacy protection as residences.

For people going down this route, I would use a warehouse for a veg/mother setup, since that itself has considerable power usage. The benefits are you can easily move the mothers (assuming you're using some kind of water-retaining medium) and worst comes to worse, throwing away clones or early veg plants is less of a loss than throwing away plants that are 40-50 days into flower.

If you're in a medical state with caregiver license, than these rules doesn't necessarily apply. But be aware of plant limits and pissing off the feds. The DEA LOVE shutting down grow ops and putting on the news wire they shut down a 600 plant grow op, when in fact, it was SOG style. Federal guidelines do not see a difference between total canopy versus total number of plants.

Not true at all actually, you can rent a warehouse for personal storage, and not be subject to business licenses, fire inspections, or sprinkler system requirements. Plenty have done so ;)

Your right, warehouses dont have the same amount of privacy/protection as a residence. But it doesnt seem like theres much privacy in a residence when it comes to pulling electrical records either. Plus, it may be harder to convince a judge that a $1500 electric bill in a warehouse means you are growing. There are TONS of legit reasons why thats possible.

Whos going to know a "personal use" warehouse is running 20KW? Put the elctric in a business name/sign up for a commercial account. Dont tell them its for personal use. Tell the city its for personal use. they dont hang out at Starbucks together and talk about you

A veg mother setup is a fraction of the power used. IMO the whole point of a warehouse is to camoflauge the electric use. Its easier to hide 30kw in a warehouse than a house.

I hope the OP is OK. good luck

All subject to various city regulations and such, so this advice will actually vary from city to city. Check your local ordinances and such.

In my area, renting a warehouse for personal use still subjects the owner of the property to inspections, depending on the size of the warehouse etc etc. Small locations don't have the same kind problem. Large warehouses are subject to random fire/sprinkler inspections by the city.

The issue is that a "personal use" warehouse pulling in 20KWH of usage is considered hazardous by the electric company. I have a friend that runs a frozen seafood distribution company and has tons of freezers. I don't know how many KWH he's using, but his electricity bill is in the $50,000-60,000 range a month. He's subject to inspections due to amount of wattage he's using. Along with the city fire/sprinkler guys that show up randomly.

But for you, this is all hearsay and you're the one actually _doing_ it, so kudos to you.

Stay safe everyone.
