i like topping for branching. It takes all the lower nodes and makes them grow twice as fast. even the alternating sets will benefit from it and their development will increase exponentially. this will cause the plant to grow laterally for a while then resume vertical growth in a bush.

your dilemma is that if you do top that plant and veg, the other clone doesn't stand a chance. the single plant will start to take over. on the up side the topping will give you a nice clone to hold the strain.

ime i have always seen an increase in yield from topping and vegging for the extra 4-5 days it sets the plant back.



EDIT:: check my 2/4 post and my 2/13 post. my plant alternates nodes as well, 9 days after the plant is ginormous.

We're filling in nicely. At least another week before the flip.

The runt has a new home while waiting to veg. Bumped the res to 900 uS. She seems healthy and happy.
Temps are topping out at 74F, which is tits in my book. RH is up to 50% (thank you spring). Res temp has never exceeded 67F (thank you Reflectix).

Sweet, dude. Looks great. I had to ditch my second plant too, it turned out to be male, bummer. It's cool though, just a little longer veg. Is it a Citral clone? They don't stretch much do they? I've heard really good things about them. Keep up the good work dude, I'll be around to see your progress.

This one is a moderate stretcher. The other clone sitting in a bucket stretches less. I'm thinking if I can keep it under the screen with some lst until I flip, I should be OK.
If you would stop feeding that cat your fan leaves, it might do better work. lol

lookin good so far, i like that screen, maybe ill try it next go round, i usually lst but theres nothing to tie my strings down to in a hydro. how are you supporting the scrog screen? does its weight rest on the lid of the tub? or does the plant pushing up on it as it grows keep it in place and the screen merely to separate the budsites? ive never done scrog so i ask, ive seen a million scrog screens but i never thought to ask till now.

looking good sarge, the growth looks awesome. I'm sure your going to see an accelerated hydro pace soon. it takes them some time to build steam. then they just explode.

The splitzky is outstanding. I'd like to get a few more tops before I flip, but she's exploding, so I worry about overgrowing the cab. I have 10" from the top of the screen to the bottom of the cool tube.
Did a top up today with 1/2 gallon of distilled and brought the res up to just over 1,000 uS with 3 ml of micro and 6 ml of bloom.
I also did some more training to spread her out. Right now I'm seeing 11 major tops and 5-6 little ones. My goal is 18-20 tops popping through the screen.
I was hoping to be flowering by March 1st. Maybe a couple of days away still.

id say your probably 3-5 days away as you said if this isn't a huge stretching plant. If you were growing the haze i would have asked you to switch yesterday.

otherwise she is nice and healthy to my eye. nice deep green as well. i cant wait for the flip and to see this thing in action.

If you can fill the screen with a flat canopy, stretch won't be as unmanageable as a tapered bush.
