And now that I'm thinking about it more I've only seen them on cuts and they are usually on the back of the leaf.I know there are five or so types of trichs but damn they look like eggs to me

they are called bulbous trichomes. they have no stalks, just the glandular heads.

here you can see the bulbous heads without any stalks, as well as the two other types of trichomes (capitate stalked and capitate sessile)

Its too bad you cant come here anymore and throw in your two cents without people becoming defensive then trying to somehow attack a persons growing skills.Yes I have had spider mites living in Fla and no I haven't seen a seedling with trichs. The eggs look exactly like that to me.You could have had them in a room with larger plants and became infected that way.Sorry I don't have a "growers eye" some mods need to thicken their skin you have "no reason" to come off as an asshole to me

this whole thread is about seedlings with trichs...yet for some reason you think he's got spidermite eggs all over his seedling and you don't see why he responded like he did?

Sasha, Misha, Sasha, Sasha. i see this everytime, must be a gene that was passed somewhere earlier in the breeding. i've never actually finished them out so i can't say if it causes more potency or anything...everytime i pop these seeds cops kick in my door lol. must be that fuego. :hotbounce:

My personal belief is that they're acting like an irritant to ward off predators and possibly also to send out chemical signals to the surrounding plants that they're under attack similar to what grass does when cut.

I definitely know it's not a sign of potential trichome production, potency, gender, etc. as I've had it on hundreds of seedlings over the years from all over the spectrum and they've never once been exceptionally better than their siblings.

No matter what the cause is trichome covered seedlings get me weak at the knees and have me awwing like a 5yo girl that was just handed a basket of puppies. Seedlings are cute at the best of times but those jewel encrusted ones are something else

That's for sure :) I got loads of seedlings started up but never have I ever seen one this beautiful. Even the first true leaves got some purple.
