Is he? People worldwide pay hundreds of dollars for them. I'd love to get certain spiders sent to me. Just a couple weeks ago I was on vacation in Southeast Asia and they had jumping spiders that look almost exactly like friggin' ants. Too bad fighting spiders(araneus) were out of season, or I would have tried to get some back somehow. Yeah, I'm a dork.

Spiders are cool - I have no probs with them (if I know they are there or coming).

Having a big hairy one jump out or onto me does give me a slight case of the heebyjeebys. :pointlaug

Tarantulas are cool - big freakin' dock spiders give me the shivers (they catch minnows and stuff that swim). Serious carnivores there - no vegan spiders. :yummy:

We do get wolfspiders here too - they are big, and furry. :yoinks:

Nikijad4210 - is that where hubby got his nick from? Big and furry, good biter? :chin:

lol

To paraphrase Bruce Cockburn, "And I'm wonderin' where the spiders are".

That one fell into a cup half filled with water. I dried it a bit before snapping pics. This other spider was a live one.

Verite, awesome macro photo, is that yours? I take it the little guy has never seen a camera before, he looks perplexed. Here's some more snaps of that guy http://images.google.com/images?q=Phidippus+audax

I love spiders (i'm in Australia so i've got no choice lol), Ill never go out of my way to kill them but have to relocate them every now and then when I find one inside my house.

Jumping spiders aren't scary though :) They won't even hurt a fly, literally!
In this house alone I've found lots of black house and redback spiders around the outside of the home, and inside i've also seen two white-tailed spiders, including ONE IN MY BED which FREAKED ME RIGHT OUT because I nearly sat on it!!! they look like this:

(actual size about 1.5cms) They hunt down other spiders so they're a beneficial part of the food chain, but you want to stay the hell away from their bite.
