I got bit by a spider (so I surmissed), last summer, tending to my darling ladies outdoors. It left a nasty supperating wound that took weeks to heal. And even after the lesion had gone, I had serious pain that radiated from the back of the earlobe, across the back of my head. Nasty stuff!

Thiania bhamoensis
They use it for fighting contests
I wonder if you could find other jumping spiders to fight each other.
Their pretty cool looking. They stay small to. So you could have an army of gladiators easily. Care is simple to.

Im way down south and use to play football and had my cleats out in the garage and came out to get em one day and they had a nest of black widows in em and i didnt know what to do so my dad just put em through the washer. I see spiders all the time, not a big fan kinda creepy but i could see why people like em.

Jumping spiders aren't scary though :) They won't even hurt a fly, literally!

Yay! I get to use these pics again.

I've seen a tiny jumping spider jump on a 3.5 inch mantis's back. Didn't puncture the armor and I separated them, but damn, that's daring. They're much easier to handle with food in their mouth. And spider fighting is the sh*t. Morally questionable, yes, but one hell of a show.

Widow Maker, that's a barn spider, or araneus, pretty common and harmless. In the US, they're particularly docile. The southeast asian ones are the ones I used to fight. You could tell they were fighters by the single red/orange marking on their underbelly, as opposed to the two white dots the US ones have.

We do get wolfspiders here too - they are big, and furry. :yoinks:

Nikijad4210 - is that where hubby got his nick from? Big and furry, good biter? :chin:
Lol, not exactly. His favorite creatures are wolves & spiders, Wolfspiders being his favorite type of spider....He is a good biter, yes :D But he's not furry (a big plus) He's tall, lean & chiseled, and I doubt he'd be pleased with me talking about his goods, so I'll just stop here :yummy:

jumping spiders are suppose to be the most intelligent species, they outwit their prey in numerous ways. i love the way they turn around like on an axis and focus on you when you staring at them.

I don't know the count how many times I've posted these but here we go again.

Araneus diadematus, Legspan ~4cm

We don't have scary spiders up here.

fuck spiders...fuck all bugs man..creep me out
If it wasn't for spiders there'd be a SHITLOAD more bugs around, flies and mosquitoes especially, and that would be worse! - spiders don't go out of their way to hurt humans, we generally have to make them feel threatened. Compare that to mosquitoes who target humans for blood! So fuck mosquitoes yes! but spiders are our friends :)
