Ok, you need to practice lifting your pots to feel weight to know when to water.... each plant is different, even sisters......
if 1 is a desert and 10 a swamp you want to stay between 3-7
If you have a catch pan, water until there is excess in the pan.
Wait 20 minutes
If the pan has water, empty it.... you are full
If the pan is dry, add just a touch more water, wait 5 more and dump the excess
Watering is the very first lesson you must learn to be successful.

EDIT: you might consider filling a pot of your standard size and allow it to completely dry.... this will give you a reference on a thirsty pot..... Also take into consideration your plants added weight as it grows and adjust accordingly.... before too long you can simply feel who is thirsty and who can go another day or two.....
