I have to call the GDP x SkunkIBL open polli project that I've been working on for months a fail. You may recall this pic I posted of the males-
well...only one of them ever dropped pollen & by the time it did the females were tired of waiting and for the most part had no fresh pistils. Despite the plants never going bone dry, the pollen sacks just dried in a closed state. I can only guess it was the fact that I was trying to do this out doors during the middle of winter. I did hit everything with shooting powder and got a few pistils to pop & I spread the pollen that did drop. I'm willing to bet I'll get more seeds than I started with but hardly what I had hoped for. Oh well...I tried.
Early on, I cut a few branches off two of the male phenos & placed them in water in the rig i use to collect my STS pollen. They have been sitting in water for probably 2 months now and a couple days ago I noticed quite a few female pistils. I had noticed one female pistil on one of the two when they first developed balls. Kinda interesting. I've heard DJ Short speak positively about using males that show intersex traits so I'm happy that there is still a cut of him around. There are also cuts of all the female phenos going.
