Since the response to the power company meeting was a bit underwhelming (ie none), does anyone have any questions or statements that you want to have passed along?

Please try to use the word fuck under four times per sentence. ;p

Edited -PS. Been reading the new state reg for cultivation facilities. I think it is a dick move that we have to provide a bond for $5,000 to ensure destruction of product fees.

(17) Evidence of having obtained a surety bond in the amount of not less than $5,000, payable to the Department, to
ensure payment for the cost of destroying cannabis product when such destruction is necessitated by a violation of
the Act or this Chapter. The bond shall be issued by a corporate surety licensed to transact surety business in the
State of California;

Black Master Kush @ day 51
(SoCal Master Kush x Black Indica )
By Greyskull Seeds
Im getting chocolate coffee bubba smells
It might be good for someone looking for a fast finisher. My room is on a 70 day cycle and this pheno isn't yielding enough to warrant giving it a spot in the future

3 Med Tree Seeds Purple Slurm (PCK x Slurm) vegging behind a single Honduras x Alien OrangeADE:
picture.php

My flowering room is all crazy african crosses that like to stretch for the ceiling. 2.5 weeks in and the routinely topped 60/40 Ethiopian leaning Mauritius x Ethiopian really wants to become the tallest plant in the room. Its spindly, has long flexible stems and really appreciates support. I would compare the development in flower to a pure haze, despite the rather dense vegging habit.
picture.php

8.5 weeks on the topped 60/40 Ethiopian leaning Zamaldelica x Ethiopian. Of the three, this one is producing substantially more weight and taking far less time to finish. This also could be because its right up against the screw in LEDs where the other two plants are sharing the 240w Blackstar.
picture.php

8.5 weeks in on the Zamaldelica x Ethiopian runty pheno. Of the two untopped plants, its developing more densely clustered flowers. I messed with the while balance on my camera before taking pics of the two plants under the 240w Blackstar. The result isn't quite true on plant color, but does show flowers well.

9.5 weeks on the seeded Zamaldelica x Ethiopian mango citric Zamaldelica looking plant.

That's a really nice spread of plants Terp. How do you accommodate the different vertical growth patterns? Your LED's are all on a common base and not individually adjustable to cover the different heights, is that correct?

I just put in a new shelving thing in my veg space. I added a second power strip of LED bulbs.

6 Yeti Fuels (left side), 6 Malawis (middle) and 2 ea Kaya and GG4 backup/moms from my clone grow (right side).

The shelf thing is taller, wider and deeper. I can now put all my veggers (1 gall pots) on one shelf. Before i had 6 on each shelf and 4 on the floor.

Here's what I'm trying to finish now on my first grow. currently at 4 1/2 weeks. Mostly old school SDFC strains: Kaya, Adubb and Dubtech 7 with a couple of obligatory GG4's. All except the Kaya came from a local clone dispensary. If I can finish out ok, I hope to be able to find out if they are what they were labelled to be. The Kaya came from a generous member here at the get-together in Feb. Thanks to all who have given advice and support. I apologize for the glare and the focus. I have no photo skills.

TY Ona. All of the bulbs are attached to a single plywood panel so the plants sit on risers (four 1 gallon paint cans under a sheet of plywood, 4x4's, whatever I have lying around really) to even out the canopy.

If you remove the covers on the LEDs you get about 24-30 inches of useable flowering canopy depth, probably 36-48 inches of veg canopy depth - that many LEDs in a strip with the lenses removed is a very functional veg / flowering space.

Terp, I opted to keep the covers on and put in some more lights in the second strip because of spread. Looking at Blynx's data, it looks like the LED's have a cone of excellent intensity below the light. The coverage dropped significantly the more lateral the measurement was from the plumb line of the might. I thought removing the caps increased both the intensity but also led to a greater drop of light laterally.

The shelf I have is 24" deep. I felt I could get better lateral coverage of that depth by having two rows and by using the caps to give some dispersal. That would lead to a loss of lumens of course but with two rows, there's definitely enough light for veg and even veg with the lights pulled back from the tops. that lets me keep the taller moms on the same shelf as the younger, shorter seedlings.

I'm really temped to make the shelf thing a flower space now.

All of these bulbs are the 2700 range. Do you think I should mix in some other spectrum bulbs?

I'll keep an eye on the leaves for signs of excess light. I have the bulbs higher now than I did when I just had the one row.

 I know, I'm a broken record - take the covers off already!

The lateral light spread is a good thought, but you're turning a directional source of light into a glowing globe like a CFL and it wastes most of the light produced to areas outside the canopy. Not to mention with that many bulbs (18-20) you have more sources of light than I do in flower.

If you remove the covers and mount your light strips about 8-10 inches apart, you'll perfectly cover your 24" deep area and be ready to flower / veg like you're running big lights.

I would just run what you have and get used to the LEDs, bulb color really doesn't make too much of a difference. 2700K work great in flower and veg as well though the plants do tend to stretch a little bit more and throw bigger leaves. I have a few 5000k bulbs in flower and I've switched to all 5000K in veg. The leaves are smaller, but node spacing decreases a bit and its easier to keep things tamed to a 2'x4'x4' veg space.

Odds are you'll end up liking them as much as you do big lights.

I don't like the big light actually. I don't dislike the light either, although I don't think it will cover my 5x5 that well. I dislike having to dance around the environmental changes it causes. I have since learned from you and Blynx that there's reasonably inexpensive and essentially heatless options.

Not to mention with that many bulbs (18-20) you have more sources of light than I do in flower.

Lol, thank you, that makes my day. Turning on both rows made me smile. Kind of like turning on the ignition for one of those Shelby Cobras must make those automotive power hogs feel: "Ah, mindless excess!"

I'll go look for some 5000K's. Are they typically bulbs like the ones I'm using or are they the landscape type bulb with the wide, flat head? Brand, store and wattage suggestions welcome! I'll practice popping tops on a coupla few lights and put my moms under them for a week or two to see how it all compares. Jimmy in a screwdriver, twist and pop, right?

I need to make some measurements with this set up and compare it to what the pop tops give at the edges.

Thanks for the advice, Terp.

Terps bulb ideas work. Exactly what I'm using in veg and will likely go to in flower when I can set up another grow.

In other new the primordial I was able to keep alive has shown HERSELF. Yay to a female! Cuts were taken to preserve the genetics and will likely just push this lady outside once I get settled.

Typical light bulbs (A19/E26/E27) work great. There's no need to go for the more expensive landscape style bulbs (BR20/BR30).

The best deal I've found is 10 packs of 14w 5000k (or 4000k I can't remember, they're blueish though) for $35-$40 at Costco. Walmart also has 12w-16w singles for $4-5 and Lowes tends to have decent specials on LEDs as well. If they're sold as 75w-100w replacements, you'll be more than bright enough.

Yup, wiggle a screwdriver into the globe/body crack, twist the screwdriver and you'll feel the glue/caulk they use to seal them give. Most brands of globes pop right off. When you screw them in, don't stare at the LEDs - you'll be seeing spots for about 10 min. You'll probably want sunglasses to look at your plants after you pop the globes off.

at the 99cents only store they have the 2700k 1600 lumen bulbs for 99 cents. 17watts

that spectrum though is good for flowering but i am stlll looking for 5000 k bulbs in 17 watts.

i don't have a costco card.

so..i got a bank of used T-5's CHEAP
here's one of bags o leds...

THanks for the suggestions on finding the 5000K bulbs everyone one.

Subrob, no, you're not alone. The hypocrisy of some of these "liberals" infuriates me as much if not more than the intolerants on the other end of the spectrum. For the amount of trouble they seem to want to stir up, it's striking how bad they are at fighting (and a little scary how good the brawny alt lads are)

Costco hands down on the bulbs. I've actually got two ten packs sitting the the shop now waiting for the room to go back up. Costco online sells them as well if you don't feel like hunting which stores in sd are carrying them.

While we are on the topic of inexpensive alternative grow equipment, anyone know of or have an idea where I might find an inexpensive data logging temp and humidity meter that doesn't require a computer to download the information. One that works with an android phone would be outstanding?
