I got hit pretty hard too man. Had a tweaker visit the plot during the shit weather as well. He started ripping during the storm and continued into the day. I'm throwing up a few pics in the big plant thread. What a weird, shitty September eh? Hope you're losses aren't too great dude. Keep in mind that a bunch of oil isn't a bad thing...
Shit that's horrible man. I would rather have mother nature take all my plants than one tweaker make off with even a little of my crop. Greedy mother fuckers. Yea man weird season is a huge under statement. Short, never really hot that got and then the tropical storm to end it all. Still had 20 real healthy plants standing upright after all was said and done with the storm, so I will make it out of it just fine. The stuff that was blown down actually look really good all trimmed up.
Boost are falling like trees around here. 6 of 10 are down and trimmed and hanging in the drying shed. Both big ladies in the pots are down, one main bed is down and the other one is well on its way. Im predicting around a 2 unit average on my boosts. Such a classy lady, even in not the best weather.

Been following this thread a while now. Glad you sound positive after the storm damage. Nearly there man....
2013 has been such a shit year in terms of weather...first with the heatwaves, then it got cold and then the rain and storms hit right before harvest. we havent had as much rain down here in CA but the winds are fucking crazy, had a few plants split but they are still alive. slowly taking everything down...cannot wait until 2013 is over. hope you salvage your season man, the good with the bad! I'm sure we will all do great in 2014, ebb n flow of the grow seasons..
Hey, talktosamson, I suspect I'm gardening a little further north from you, being almost on the banks of the Columbia across from Vancouver Wa. I've cultivated at least one outdoor cannabis garden in my neck of the woods for the last 30+ years. Regarding weather, its become pretty much a crap shoot growing outdoors in Oregon the last ten or so years.
I'm VERY HAPPY to read that you and the MRS. will make out alright, despite your storm damage.
Every year doing the outdoor growing and harvesting on my own - its a real exercise in PHYSICAL stamina and time management keeping up with everything that needs doing... And every year I say I'm going to stake and/or cage more plants, earlier, and better. Yet every year I find myself with maybe 10% of plants somewhat staked and none caged by mid September. Most years my outdoor plants and I have been lucky. Except for those years where the weather is SO bad we really don't HAVE a growing season.
But THIS year really taught me my lesson. Between the early heavy rains and then the sustained winds with uber high gusts... I feel lucky that just 25% of my plants sustained broken branches or were blown completely down. Of those, I was actually able to save most of it by getting to it at first light, washing the crap off it, shaking the moisture out and hanging it with good air movement.
So, while bringing in the 2013 harvest now at full-tilt boogie, I'm (mentally) planning my caging technique for 2014. I VOW that next year, every plant will be staked immediately and caged within 30 days of going outdoors into the ground.
I cut plant numbers outdoors again this year...moving towards fewer, but larger. Interestingly, my larger plants withstood the wind and weather better than most of the smaller plants and 'testers' in pots.

Love the plants that u run. I don't wanna take the hit on yield, so I always do seeds bred by a friend of mine. Bombers year in , year out. My first year I did the bamboo and twine thing and didn't bother to put up a hoop house. Well that year I learned my lesson when the weather came. All kinds of breaks AND mold issues! Sucks. Now I do one inner cage, spend the summer months tying out the plants with twine, and in early August I pound 4 t posts per hole and wrap it with either trellis netting or a metal cage. Very minimal breaks and I got hit hard too this year. Plus I do the hoop house and cover my plants when the rain comes. Extra time and money is worth it. More yield, better yield, and piece of mind. Good luck with the rest of the season. Always wanted to see the CP and GSC outdoors.
Thanks man, I have to grow what works on this property. October 20th is the end of the world here, anything after that will freeze and turn to mush. Best cages I ever built were with t posts but this year the wind broke the netting from excessive rubbing. I think if I went t post then thick zip ties, then netting. We made some of our own seeds this year with the faster strains, excited to see what comes of the crosses.

Yeah man, t posts and zip ties are the money. Seeds way to go for yield. Breeding your own is fun and exciting. Every year there are a couple phenos that have it all. Short flowering time, color, smell, yield, and smoke. But I never keep em. This yr a winner pheno popped up, one I hadn't scene since 2010, and I am stoked since I just took clones and get to run it indoors. Hopefully u get sum winners.

My hands have been much too sticky to undate the thread, and my wife won't let me handle the camera whilst I have resin hands, so pictures are out of the question. Weather turned nice and the plants are swelling, all the boost are down and done. Cookies and OG crosses are still alive and packing on the weight. Like others have said, all was not lost on the tropical storm. We will prevail!!!
