Nickcorp187, I also agree with you. The DEA isnt going to make an internet dragnet to bust closet growers. They may make a few "seed purchase" busts to make a case against the person selling...In this case RC. Billbo may be one of the few to become such a case??? Who knows, possibly.

The only point I was trying to make is that the DEA has and will remain a well funded organization. At least until someone steps in as president (like me ) and slash funding to the these organised government crime rings. We need a president to FORCE lawmakers into reclassification of mj. A good tight choke collar on the IRS would be good step in the right direction as well.

Well I reckon the DEA could just turn the records over to local authorities and let them act how they see fit to... In places without MMJ or reasonable limits to prosecution of small amounts they may just love the intel to boast the take action facade many smaller police and sheriff depts rely on for job security and DA reelection... There is really no reason to assume that the busts would have to be Federal is there??..... still those if they came to be would be haphazard and spotty in nature... imo

Don't be so naive, all they care about are numbers. If this is truly some international sweep what looks better in the news for all the tax dollars they pissed away....1000 growers busted or 100? You will never hear in the news that 900 of them only had 10 plants.

Yes, it really is hard to guess what course of action could flow from all this...I say 'all this' like there's alot going on, but we know so little it's impossible to say almost anything with certainty.
My concern is that of info regarding individuals who have suggested being a grower will be passed onto local leos, that's pretty much it.

That's what happened to me. The USPS tipped the DEA, who in turn tipped local LEO. I was busted by a state task force, not by the DEA itself. What was found in my mail tipped the feds that I was growing, and they handed it over to the state for local prosecution.

The DEA goes after the big guys because that's specifically their job.

That's how jurisdiction in the states works. If you are a "small guy" then it isn't a federal offense, it's a state offense. The state then refers the matter to local (city or county) LEO for further action, if any.

This is why it's important to understand how jurisdiction works before you go tearing up your scene. Many local police departments don't have the budget or will to go after small timers because they have the brains to go after meth cookers instead.

Shit, LEO around here can't even keep up with the tweakers, they barely have funds to keep a few cars on the street. I can just hear the reaction when the Feds give them information about what might just possibly be a link to a grower..."put it on the stack; we'll get to it if we can".

I've lived in the area for five years, and have heard of exactly two grow busts. One a certified knucklehead with a house full of plants and another who planted a big patch in a convenient stretch of national forest.

Assess your risks and keep a low profile. If you're a big grower, the risks are always there. If you were sketchy before all of this you may have reason to worry. If you you are a small personal grower with good security, I don't believe you have anything new to worry about.

Personally I think the biggest concern that comes out of this are the implications for the seed trade; it will be a hard bite if they start to shut down that pipeline.

You hit the nail on the head country mon. I think if more people were willing to break an unjust law by growing some herb that is probably the best thing we can do. Passive resistence. They can never get us all. and more than likely will never even get 1% of us. More growers more information and more attention.

Not in my little city. If the DEA gave them enough info that I was growing and that I was worth checking out they have the cash, manpower and time to check it out.

I wonder if a DEA heads up to your local LEO is enough to get a warrant to check your power bill out?

What people can't seem to get though their thick heads is the cops don't play by the rules. They will break them if they think they can get away with it and it's up to you and a ton of cash to prove they did. And even if you do and you win your case you are still out a ton of money if you even had it in the first place.

They got the bigger dick and the law on their side and that's that...be carefull.
Now is the time to follow all those growing rules that get preached all the time that half don't follow. Diffentantly don't be throwing out any growing materials in your trash can right now. If they are checking you out you might as well just send them an open invitation to your home if you are doing that.
If not they will just make something up.

everybody expecting to know what's going to happen in a complete sense "right now" is going to be dissapointed. however, i don't think it will be as simple as "you logged onto Overgrow occasionally, in comes your door" : but more so, you traded personal info. (your addy, whatever that links back to you) on the board and there's still records of it, (sooo many people did this it's not even amusing) then you should be expecting something. You recently placed an order with said seed co. to your house, you should be expecting something. Paranoia is NOT "un-warranted" at this time.

hello 1st post here - another OG refugee and very happy to have found IC.

This weeks events have been horrible and my thoughts are with rc and family, but whatever happens , I believe Overgrow was/is a great success when you think of all the info shared and experience gained, no-one can take that out of our heads. Plus it's great that we're all pulling together. won't be turning my lights off .

Since Monday, when trying to connect to OG I would get a connection refused error. I thought OG was just being ridiculously slow as it had sometimes been notorious for. Earlier today however, I was redirected to whitehouse.gov, and that's when I knew OG was no more. It is back to the connection refused error now, but someone is doing something behind the scenes. Beware.

I too lost all my pics in my gallery, my grow logs, and the best resource anyone could ask for for growing and DIY growtech research. Hopefully the research will continue in another venue.

BTW, if anyone followed my OG thread a while back, I am 2 weeks or so away from harvest of even bigger, stickier, and more dense buds. Last time I got 5.2oz off two plants, this time bigger.

I may try to recreate my Grow cabinet thread here or elsewhere.

Naive? Yes, all they care about are numbers, they also care about following their rules as it pertains to the public. They will not bust 1000's of growers in an internet sweep cause they didnt have a 1000 big time growers to bust...a good handful though.

They will pass the info for the small growers to the local pork if they have easy access to information on them. As stated, local pork will do whatever (if you are in the wrong city/county) it takes to bring your shit down. If they find nothing but know for certain you are a grower, they will come in and take down your grow and put you in jail!!! If a lawyer can prove a baseless search, (you STILL need to spend the money to get a lawyer) to get your name cleared and MOST of your shit back. They will leave you pennyless with nothing of value to sell to get a lawyer. No lawyer means, with a large %age of cetainty, you are going to jail for more than the origional 1-2 day from the bust.

If you do get busted because of this or anytime in the future ( God forbid), remember these words and speak nothing else EVER to the pork... I WILL NOT SPEAK TO YOU WITHOUT A LAWYER!!! YOU WILL HAVE TO SAY THIS OVER AND OVER TO MANY PORKERS until they finally read you your rights and take you in. Anything you say in the meantime is fair game! SPEAK NOTHING ELSE, OFFER NOTHING ELSE! NEVER SAY ANYTHING TO THE PORK BUT THE ABOVE STATEMENT. Remember KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!! That advice could be the only thing that regains your freedom!!
