root aphids

If you can't take clones somewhere and start over or get your genetics back it takes a while to get rid of them. It seems you have caught them fairly quickly so you are going to have to control them in the soil, air, and on the leaves. Some people have had luck with Azatrol but whatever mutant species of these beasts I had we unlike anything I've ever encountered (spider mite bullies). Let off a pyrethrum bomb and/or spray with pyrethrum to kill anything on the leaves. Nematodes take a while to establish themselves and are more of a preventative. Pyrethrum will knock them out quickly but must be reapplied every two days for weeks until the problem is solved (if not PBO synergized). Bug-o-Buster will knock them dead but contains PBOs (piperonyl butoxide) and will kill off some leaves (bigger healthier plants should be fine). I pm'd a long time board member that's from humboldt today and he recommended using Spinosad. I'll have to try that if I ever get these beasts again. Avid won't kill them and neither will Floramite. Bayer Tree and Shrub being the very last resort if all else fails panic button.

Here's a thread I started to get some info (and good laughs) with me fighting them for a long time:

I heard "bontaigard es" works but no one will confirm it here. It is a organic fungus that goes after softbodied bugs like root aphids. not sure at 60-90$ a quart ? it almost sounds to good to be true. have you heard anything about it. the shop that I had went to double check it was root aphids and they had a guy just ask for the same product.well they comfirmed it was root aphids and that they did not have it. they said he drenched with all kind of things and all went bad.was in hydro but went back to soil. I gues hydro has more problems than soil??it is sad if I have to start back from clone when 4 are ready to transplant and flower and 2 are in flower.

Hey CaliG,

That is diatomaceous earth, but it prob won't work. Instead, try Prymethrins and Azatrol together.
