if you don't think science accurately describes the world why go to a doctor or have an engineer build your bridges? if you don't know "anything" then how can you tell bad from good? why salivate over Austrian economics - or care whether Ron Paul gets elected?

if its a false to claim to know things - are we then "pretending" to know we were attacked on 9/11 by jihadists? is the evidence: bodies, missing relatives, burning buildings, sick aid workers, Osama's gloating, and our epic defense spending in response, somehow suspect? must we really keep an open mind? two sides to every story is what Rukind says. perhaps it was all a dream.

He isn't saying he doesn't believe in science.

The facts just change. Thats why they are theories. The theories work for now but you never know what we will find out about it.

I dont think he is anti science like you make spastic out to be.

Freedom.......

Freedom.......

Who was that said earlier in the thread that maybe as a country we are not ready for Freedom. I think it was HashZepplin.

We have traded our Freedom for the facade of security in almost every way. To me when ever the government says, "hurry, hurry pass this law or that law because we need to to keep you safe." Or says, "hurry, hurry we need you to go into debt 780 billion dollars because the sky is falling". Or the Federal Reserve says, "NO! You do not need to know how we manage your country's money supply"...we'll keep you safe.

I do not feel safer or assured. I feel lied to and manipulated. Then a candidate comes forward and says for the last 20 years the same things and is willing to try and do the things he says..... All people can bring up is he believes in creation, and doesn't like Civil Liberties Act... I just don't get it. Then you show were all the choices believe in creation and they don't respond they change the subject to a different splinter in their finger while a tree falling straight on them......

That is your answer by the greatest scientific mind we have ever had although Nicoli Tessla comes a close second.

I feel the same way. I really get sick of reading the ron paul stuff just cause people's response is always so negative. explaining why you dont like the guy is cool and everything, but people just get nasty when they talk about ron paul. It is like, some people get truly offended that you support ron paul.

I always read comments like paul tards and paulites.. that is not a way to talk about these issues. its not the fucking super bowl.

People who support ron paul are not "retards" or "nutjobs". they are people that actualy do care about their country. just like you. just different opinions. I see a huge lack of respect for each other and I blame that on this left right view of politics.

This could end within a month of Ron Pauls election!

These people would not be in jail and countless other too.

Doesn't it make you think?

People are happy to be poorly informed. If they can catch a blurb that somewhat supports their thoughts, they stick with it, context be damned.

Dr Paul is unlike any national politician i can think of post Dec 7th 1941.

The electorate is set 45% one way, and 45% the other. It is the middle 10% that make this country move, and a 3rd Party Dr Paul has a real chance to throw a wrench into this 'black OR white' system. This is the reason the DNC and RNC should dislike Dr Paul.

Even though we disagree on some things, ShroomDr, I do enjoy your posts and your knowledge.

Just as an example of the other side of my thoughts. I don't agree with abortion for myself and obviously the female that would be involved, but I would never ever interfere with another persons choice on that issue, so I vote pro-choice. I think this is how Ron Paul is in some ways, his ideals are such that the government should not dictate to us. I understand what he means with the Civil Rights Act, we advanced farther down a slope there that leads directly into the mindset of Americans letting the government know what's best for them. At that time, I agree with what was done but I do understand; however, every time we allow them that authority it takes us farther and farther down the slope. We were on that slope long before the Civil Rights Act. That slope has lead to the point where United States citizens have be executed with drones without due process... we are now at a point that if we as a citizen decide we are being unjustly served and oppressed and take up arms to "influence government policy" are by legal definition terrorist. They put in the Constitution and Bill of Rights .... "the right to keep and bear arms" and autonomy of the states for just exactly that reason above.

Am I and only a couple of others on here able to see this or do you all disagree?

You (and I) are essentially pro life for ourselves, but pro choice for everyone else.
Ron Paul says its a States rights issue, and his failure to support a Federal Amendment, most likely point towards his stance equaling ours.

I understand what he means with the Civil Rights Act, we advanced farther down a slope there that leads directly into the mindset of Americans letting the government know what's best for them. The problem is human preference for familiarity, we are xenophobic by nature. Many aspects of the legislation are necessary.

That slope has lead to the point where United States citizens have be executed with drones without due process... we are now at a point that if we as a citizen decide we are being unjustly served and oppressed and take up arms to "influence government policy" are by legal definition terrorist. And this has to do with terrorism already being illegal BEFORE the Patriot Act. (Which i totally agree with). This shit Obama just signed only 'codified' what they were already doing/intending to do.

Thats why i fail to see the outrage, if anything they have opened themselves up for the Supreme Court, Bush just said fuck it.

Come on SC do the South proud. RON PAUL 2012 @)!@ :D

look, the dude said what he said. i say we know things, facts. where i live the sun rises in the east and sets in the west; that fact does not change for me. and i can use that knowlege to plan my day. so i say, either we're open to reason and facts, either we reject bullshit ideas, and candidates, either we embrace science (or at least bend it over the table for a quickie), or we're lost.

surely at least some of Ron Paul's supporters are retards and nutjobs. though i imagine most are not. you're right about the respect thing. respect's earned. not all ideas are equal. there are bad ideas that don't deserve our respect. as a Ron Paul supporter in a public forum your ideas are being tested. if you can't defend those ideas there could be a corresponding loss of respect.

the fact that we spin around the sun is a lot different than the theory of evolution.

I am not even denying evolution. I say its most likely a fact. I am just saying, its important to keep an open mind. You are always very defensive and have no respect for other people's beliefs.

I am a ron paul supporter in a ron paul thread imagine that. You are not so why are you here? If you are looking to debate, that is fine. But you are only in it for the sake of argument. You are only here for negativity. You say some shit and spin it to mean something else. No matter what, you will not be a ron paul supporter, i get it. I dont give a fuck either. Most of the "facts" you say about him are not even accurate, its just your take on them.

I also dont disrespect other people's out looks on life such as religion. I dont care what paul believes.. doesn't fucking matter.. his beliefs on our country however, suits me perfectly.

Although, I think atheism is bullshit.. to think that there is nothing beyond this.. and that consciousness has no real purpose, is just crazy to me. I dont believe it just like i dont believe in any other religions.

I am basicallly agnostic but I have always been very interested in the kybalion.

All the top candidates believe in creation.... so what is the point?

All the top candidates believe in creation.... so what is the point?

Do I think it is fair to take into consideration Ron Paul believes in one of these stories more than another...Yes. Do any of the top candidates believe any different....No!

But as the title of this thread states--Ron Paul 2012!!! Your thoughts on who we should pick for our "Cause"? As it stands right now, the only three we are choosing from are Paul, Obummer, and Romney. Obummer goes to church and believes in Creation; Romney goes to church and believes in creation; Ron Paul goes to church and believes in creation. ALL THREE BELIEVE IN CREATION!!!

Obama does not believe cannabis should be legalized!

Romney does not believe cannabis should be legalized!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLOV9meKUBA

Ron Paul does believe cannabis should be legal!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdohenAmPkE

So the question is mute.... ALL BELIEVE IN CREATION but only one believes in legalization of Cannabis!

Peace

Cojito--The point is mute... all the candidates that are likely to be in the election do not agree with your view of things so in that respect "who do you support for our cause". Your argument against Ron Paul applies to actually all the top candidates. You don't even want me to get into a comparison of each's particular beliefs. Wouldn't matter because.... see the first sentence in this paragraph.
What is your point as it relates to the discussion if they all are equal in regards to what you keep discussing?

yeah good point man. I am sure he will find another reason. it doesn't matter, I am just not gonna respond to the guy anymore. it isn't worth the effort.

Ok then...please tell us what you disagree with, or dislike RP for...that I cannot answer by simply quoting what has already been said here--
Do you want Freedom?? Or do you want watered down Regulated Freedom?? :tiphat:

I think Ron Paul is a nut job specifically for thinking Iran needs ZERO sanctions, the Civil Right Act should be repealed, and that we should return to the gold standard.

Almost everything else i agree with him on. Although im not sure how 'isolationist' he really wants to go.

^ i am a huge ron paul supporter too but those are the three things that i am a little iffy on. I understand his points, but many people would not understand what he was doing and it would cause an uproar among the dumb public.

Paul said he would just allow people to choose gold if they like. Giving us more options.
