Aside from the questionable moral issues of the US enforcing the petrodollar with it's bombs and tanks, we aren't going to replace it. Our foreign creditors will. No country ever replaces it's currency if it's the reserve currency. The market replaces it for them.

Same thing happened to Greece. Greece was not only in debt, they fudged their numbers with the help of Goldman Sachs. But GS didn't fudge enough to fool anybody, they just positioned themselves to be paid.

If you're considering any candidates proposing tax cuts, I hope debt isn't your pet peeve. Steve Forbes endorsed Rick Perry for Perry's tax plan. No wonder, Forbes would have saved a billion over 30 years. If I'm not mistaken, Rick's tax plan was 20/20/20. Herman Cain's 9/9/9 might have sounded sweet but we'd fly off the cliff with anything that has been proposed. Add dynamic baloney to forecasts and we'll be another deadbeat nation. Doesn't matter to fundamentalists.

We already hide our unfunded liabilities off the books not to mention Fannie and Freddie are hidden off the books. This would be more of the same and par for the course.

Whether it's the BLS hiding what real inflation is or the CBO hiding what our real debt is the gub is in the business of trying to control perception through propaganda, not actually fixing anything. It's much easier to just lie to everyone and hope they don't notice than to actually fix our structural problems. It's what bankrupt entities do. Try to lie to the market for as long as possible. Lie until they drive right off the cliff.
