I had Romulan by Federation Seed co. and it is one of the best pain meds I have had.
I would say second to Mikado.
Mikado is just a bit more stronger, but Romulan has the better flavor.
I also tried a BCKushXRomulan that yields like big bud and medicates you very well.

I was looking for that version of romulan. Ended up getting a different more sativa like romulan. Still has an intense grape scent to it and colors up nice in the winter but doesnt have anywhere close to the med factor the mikado has. That old fed mikado is crazy strong. Heres a pic of my grape rom.

romulan is a high quality plant...

romulan is a high quality plant...

:dueling:
out of 120 plants last year one of my romulan was the best.

i might say that a misty pheno i had (seemed rare as other plants in that pack were completely different) tasted better. but the misty was more sativa and yielded much less.

the white rhino i very nearly matched Rom in potency.

i dont remember who posted having problems with cloning them, but from my experience and what else i have heard that is true. it took an inordinately long time to take root.

i have also heard of people have difficulting germing them without scarring the seed first. they did pop last with respect to the batch of seed initially germed with them.

i had one that grew thick dense leaves (looked like cabbage) that was the best plant. the better pheno's of the group that i grew branched early in veg and more vertically vigorous plants that stayed more columnar had less interesting characteristics when it came to "firing one up".

i had followed Vic High's posts on romulan as i had the federation version (and still have) some of those seeds. word around the camp fire is that the romulan has some mexican sativa in it (i may be mis-quoting) and when vic worked with it he said he used some blueberry in the mix. Reef had previously stated that his cross has that berry flavor as well, so i dont thik you need the federation version to get that pheno.

other versions (quite possibly next generation) are rumored to be a touch more potent and may be crossed to a good white widow.

it's a good strain (did make the HT top 30). i am anxious to see how it will compare in the next set of 120+ seeds. since the federation is no longer pedling those seeds i am crossing mine with Blueberyy, Bluemoonshine, and White widow as well as F2 to save them. also, since i already have some Jack the Ripper and Jack Herer it may pull double duty there. If i could get some confirmation as to the whole Rom = some type of afghan/kush cross i might run a cut with some The HOG, G13XHP, and Dreamweaver...but no confimation on that yet.

i smoked some of this with a friend, and he said. "what do you call this stuff, 'brain scambler'?"

love the ROM posts.

A note on Federation...

A note on Federation...

Beautiful pics by the way. I'm writing because there is NEVER much mention about Ziggy (Federation Seed Co.) and I think its a shame! Anything Federation has will be top notch! Believe that. Romulan is great smoke, and Mikado is right there with it!! You grow Fed. genes and you will not be disappointed. Fruity fruity smell while growing and smoking. The taste is out of this world too. Everyone in my circle was floored by the Romulan and Mikado. Although the Mikado takes home the trophy in the all around category. Easy to grow, very quick finisher (42-45 days), incredibly easy to clone (roots in 7 days or less), and the smell/taste will have you hypnotized even before the first toke. Mikado is bomb, no doubt. Resin production is incredibly retarted as well.
A client of mine (an anesthesiologist) described the high of Mikado as tranquil, and I couldn't have put it better myself. The stone puts you in a great place..not like Romulan which will just totally comatose you (too much for me).

Anyway, this post is more of a tribute to Ziggy and the great job he does. HE CHARGES VERY REASONABLE PRICES FOR AN AWESOME PRODUCT. Fellow growers....the next time you plan on spending $100 plus on a breeders genes that you have NO experience with.....buy a Federation strain....ANY Fed strain. You WILL NOT be dissapointed. In todays business of beans, its refreshing to know there are breeders out there that don't hype their genes even though they're better than 75% of others that do. And NO...there is absolutly NO affiliation with Fed. here. Just giving props to an honest, fantastic, egoless breeder for a refreshing change. Thanks for reading, I'll go back underground now.

Yeah, i owe kudo's to Federation. almost a decade ago, i journeyed to vancouver on a wing and a prayer, hoping to score quality genetics from Marc Emery so i could start growing something other than bagseed. it involved crossing an international boundary both ways, and was very sketchy. after driving over a thousand miles i found out that marc emery was no longer in the basement of hempBC, and now only did mail order. so i found myself a bag and settled into my hotel room for the night with a copy of a magazine... i think it was cannabis culture or something similar. anyway, i came across an ad for the amsterdam cafe, i think it was on or near hastings... anyway the next day i journeyed over there and took a look at their stock, and met a couple guys who tried to sell me on several romulan strains. i knew next to nothing about it and took it all with a grain of salt, till they produced a J of some seedlings they had flowered out. we split a joint between three of us, and i was sold. i dont know if they were affiliated with federation or not, but i ended up buying some Romulan x BC Kush, Romulan x Island Sweet Skunk, and Romulan x BC Big Bud. to this day i have to say that romulan x kush was one of the best strains i've bought from a seed company. the fresh smell of it was almost carmel like, the nuggets were hard and lovely. the romxbcbb grew out into this donkey dick of a cola, which suprised the hell out of me considering the conditions (i was a total hydro noob) and the ISSxrom ended up being a washout because i was too noob to deal with something that sativa, it outstripped my grow area so fast i had to cut them way back and ended up with very little, though the taste was phenomonal. about two months after i got back was right around the time high times started ooohing and aaaahhhhing over the romulan. anyway, i was a noob and got treated good by federation. if anyone knows of any good places to score any of the above mentioned strains, let me know. i've looked for the romxkush but can't seem to find it anywhere. oh to know then what i know now lol.

peace

Romulan is a good strain. Anyone in the Bay area should look at SR-71 for killer Rom cuts. Sweet sappy fruity shit.

Peace;
