Roger Daltrey Threatens to End The Who Concert Due to Cannabis Smoke

This really seems to me to be a case where a promoter screwed the artist and the audience both by being less than honest with each them. I am sure I must be missing something obvious.

Well if some snot nosed chick says the Who are lame as fuck they must be, right?

I do know they can still draw a paying crowd. Lets see you do that, even with a wet tee shirt.

the most obvious fact here is that it was Daltrey & Townshend both that were filmed giving audience members hell for smoking, the blame lays with & on the artists.

@ a completely different show (Miami?) show you can't even see a frigging whisp of smoke but Daltrey stopped the show and is just bitchin' away.......

It's not even the bitching about smoke that would piss me off but the threat of walking out on the show before it's done, after everyone has already paid their money. I mean I'm not entirely without compassion for a non smoker and how smoke might affect him/her. I have no compassion however when one tries to hold everyone responsible for a small minority of the larger crowd.

sounds like an pre-established excuse for when his voice gets weak during a show.

its a shtick. They are performers putting on a show.

the Who should put out a statement in advance of selling tickets that smoke of any kind won't be tolerated. I haven't seen them in concert since 1975, and that was an amazing show. I was in row 35 (still have the stub) and we burned much weed. Apparently it weren't no issue back then.

who, stones, dylan, just stop it..

Dylan's okay. At least he's still writing and performing new material, instead of becoming an oldies act. Yeah, his voice is shot, but damn, he's Bob Dylan, and I'd still walk a mile to see him in concert.:tiphat:

Many would say that Dylan's voice has always been shot. :)

Right, and Jimi Hendrix can't "really" play the guitar. It's all gimmicks.

No Hendrix was legit and in my opinion the greatest guitar player ever. As for Dylan though a long standing issue with him that has been satirized countless times is how difficult it was/is to understand the lyrics he sings/sang. Outside of his singing though the man is/was a brilliant song writer.

come on now boys, we're getting off topic...where were we...oh yes,...Roger Daltry is most definitely a wanker...especially since he has aged so bad...he now looks like a little troll.

honestly pete john and keith with any different singer could have been better off.

look at the old "high numbers" and early who vids and such...daltry was and is a little wanker.

You know, I’ve been thinking about this and to tell you truth, concerts at indoor venues have changed. They’re not they smoked filled halls they were in the past. For some time now if you wanted to smoke you had to go to a special section (outside). I guess even at outdoor shows due to the laws about smoking in public facilities. Sure people still blaze one up here and there but not like it was in the old days. E-cigs and vape pens make it more convenient to do it on the spot but I’m really having a hard time believing that at the current shows Roger is having a problem with smoke bothering his vocal abilities.

As someone mentioned before, maybe it is a shtick.

My understanding is, Roger Daltrey used to have to wake Pete Townshend up and drag him to gigs in the very early years. If Roger hadn't been a wanker, there might not have BEEN The Who.
But aside from that, you can't say somebody else could have done it better, because, well, fuck, Tommy, Who's Next, My Generation- nobody I can think of could have done what Roger Daltrey did with that awesome music. If you disagree, then who?

on dylans voice, or any voice,

"Sam Cooke said this when told he had a beautiful voice: He said, “Well that’s very kind of you, but voices ought not to be measured by how pretty they are. Instead they matter only if they convince you that they are telling the truth.” Think about that the next time you are listening to a singer."
