In veg I have managed to save a few clones, I have 1 RM#3/ 2 RM#2/ 1 RM#5. The RM#3 clone has been in veg for much longer than the others, it is a now a beautiful plant topped at the 4th node, I don't know if I take some clones from her for the next flower cycle or make a big plant.
The 2 RM#2 are not at the same stage, I have one in a 4L pot who grows slowly but surely, the second one is still struggling to make new growth despite having some nice roots.
The RM#5 clone is also still struggling but I see some new growth, I'm glad this one is alive because the one in flower has a beautiful structure.
I have also a Terple x Platinum alive with a bit of new growth.
I'll be able to make more runs with those genetics and that's a really good news when I see what they do in flowering. I'll try to reveg the RM#1 because she is the fastest to flower and has a nice frost cover, she looks like she could be a keeper. I don't know which female will be the better most of them worth a second run at least.

Weekly update at day 36 since switch, I'll reduce to 11/13 today because I find the plants are evolving really slowly despite looking really healthy. It must be a mix of lack of maturity at switch and low temperatures or maybe it's just coming from the genetics, they look like they'll need 10 complete weeks to be good for harvest.
I'm pretty sure I have mislabeled the RM#3 who is in fact one of the two TP, my bad. It means the male plant was really coming from the RM seeds pack
The RM#2 is showing some colors inside its flowers, it's the first time I have a plant who get purple like this, it's coming from the FLO side of the cross I suppose because I don't think purpling from low temps is spreading like this. She'll be really beautiful when she's fully mature.
The RM#1 is still the only plant on schedule, her flowers are more developed than any of her sisters. The frost will be massive once she's done and the smells are exquisitely complex for now, don't know what it will be at the end but it's gonna be interesting.
The remaining Rocky Melon females are smaller and a bit behind in flower but they look happy and should make nice flowers.
Time for some pics, the last ones ones are the Terple x Platinum who look also pretty good but have also some tie to go before being ready.

Time for the weekly update, the run is at day 44 since the switch but I'd say the plants started to flower around day 10/15. I thought they were faster to initiate their flowering stage with my new LED but I was just too optimist, now I'd say they are slower to evolve under LED compared to HPS but to be fair the low temps are certainly a big factor.
The plants might be a bit slow to make buds but they look really happy and healthy, I've never defoliate so much even if it's not obvious on the pics. I wonder what it would be if I had not cut so much leaves. The resin is now visible on all the girls and the smells are interesting. The RM genetic is new to me and I hope to have some terpenes combo I've not yet experienced.
I think most of the RM will be ready around day 70 maybe earlier for one of them.
Time for some pictures

Wow it looks really dead here despite the views accumulating, that's strange. Time for the weekly update at day 50 now, everything is going great, the girls are healthy and happy. The buds are just starting to take some volume on the most advanced plants but the frost is really multiplying quickly and there is more colors also on a few Rocky Melon.
The smells are very strong now on the RM#1 and RM#2, they are very different on the #1 it is a bit lemony mixed with spices maybe a touch of fuel on the background not sure.
The RM#2 is the more colorful of all the Rocky Melon, the smells are a mix of berries and floral notes with a kind of incense or cologne smell, she's not done yet so it still evolves.
The other Rocky Melon with a lot of purple/red on her leaves has a smell close to the RM#2 with some subtle variations.$
One of the RM, the #5 is a bit pale compared to her sisters, I don't know why she's lost her green lush colors so fast. She is starting to show some red on her leaves and she has a nice resin coating, so far she has a lemony smell but it should change a bit with maturity coming.
Enough of my rambling and this is the pics

Im excited to see how it all turns out! And most importantly how satisfied you are with the resulting flowers :D Looks great so far! I wish I could smell them... Some of the phenos indeed look like there are many leaves in the flowers, hopefully they fill out nicely in the next weeks.
I am curious if you will also get the extract/hash smell/taste on the melon leaning phenos. Our melo rado melon leaning phenos smell like hash when burning the joint, the smoke is pretty thick and satisfying although we did not yet find a favorite pheno it definitely offered something new.

Good luck with the finish!
I am curious if this makes you want to grow more of the melon crosses or not.

Fyi we grew a few (apple fritter x sundae driver x sour zkittelz) x melon (the freebies from wicked sowah x karma collab), in this cross the results are nothing similar to the melo rados and more of a modern USA indica with rock hard buds

I hope to find some new terps, it's my first cross with a Flo coming from the Blueberry family or the Sour Dub. So far the smells are pretty interesting, the RM#2 specially, it's the one with purple flowers, she has a very pleasant smell of berries and flowers mixed with spices.
The RM#1 has a complex smell that I can hardly described. About the more leafy ones I don't know if they lean on the Melon or Sour Dub, I don't smell any melon in any of the plants, maybe it will come later when the flowers are closer to maturity or it's lost in the genetic mix.
For the Hasch I'll mix the sugar leaves from all my plants so the taste won't be only from this Melon cross.
The other crosses of Melon I'd like to grow are the Rocket Juice and Lemello but I wait to see what this run gives me. I will make at least another run with the clones I have and maybe keep one for a while so I won't need to much seeds for the next sessions.

Looking very good so far! The plants look a little bit leafy, it may be the strain or maybe the LED spectrum. Since switching to LED I´ve noticed that some strains put out more leaves than under HPS. I bet the buds are going to fill out closer to the end.

Although I subbed this thread I don´t get notifications about new posts/updates- that seems to be a bug of the new forum. Might be a reason for the lack of responses...but anyway, keep up the good work!

Peace
Ace

Hey I just found your thread I’ll be watching
Thanks for your interest guys, it goes pretty well for the first run with LED. The plants are definitely doing more leaves with this light and the Rocky Melon are more leafy than the Terple x Platinum.
Today is day 57 since the Switch and it moved quickly this last week compared to the precedent ones, the 11/13 is really helpful to speedy up stubborn plants.
A lot of colors are popping now and the smells are very strong, mainly sweet and fruity, there is no gas smell from the Rocky Melon at all. This is some pictures from yesterday, day 56.

This is a few more pics to show some different Rocky Melon Closer and trying to give you an Idea of their colors. The RM#2 has some purple/pink buds but I have a hard Time to take a pic showing her true colors.
The RM#1 is the more developped and the only with a smell close to some kind of diesel mixed with lemon/lime.
The middle picture is from RM#5, her leaves turned yellow in the last 10 days and recently a lot of red showed up.. She looks like a good yielder fot the next run I'll need to give her more N to avoid the early fading.
The colors are much darker on the pics compared to what I see in person, at least for the red.pink and purple, maybe the LED are transforming the way they look or I need to have better ajustments on the phone's camera.

Hi every body it's time for the weekly update, it moved really fast in the last 2 weeks compared to the precedent ones, it's a bit strange to see how fast some of the plants changed in a very few days when they have evolved pretty slowly for weeks before. But it's good news for me as I've been able to start the harvest, I've cut the RM#1 and RM#6 at day 63, some might be cut in the next days but most of them will be cut around day 70, I don"t think any Rocky Melon will have to go further.
The RM#1 has a very strong smell but it's hard to describe, it like a perfume you could call Diesel Flower, the resin is very greasy and there is a ton of it. There was 2/3 little male flowers on the lower flowers who were in the shade nothing major but there a few seeds in some lower buds. She is very leafy but a lot of them are full of resin so it will be useful for the ice o run.
The RM#6 is very different, her flowers don't have the same structure and I think it will be a low yielder, it's like the flowers didn't swell in the lest weeks but it's done. This one is very leafy as well but there is less sugar leaves compared to RM#1. She has one of the strangest smell I've come across, i have a hard time to find something similar it makes think to a nuclear peanut butter smell, really weird and and strong when i ht the branches the smell was so powerful a friend could smell out of my building.
This is some pics of the 2 Rocky Melon harvested so far, as you can see the #1 is all green she had just a few touch of purple due to cold on a few leaves, it's only the 2 branches on the top of the plant in the picture, the others were cut just before I took a pic. The RM#6 is very colorful but her buds are mostly green.

The other plants look really good, there is another RM who is the same phenotype as RM#1, her smell is not as strong as her sister and she's not as big as her sister, this one could be cut now but I keep her going a few more days.
The RM#2 is the one with purple/red flowers, I don"t know why her calyxes did not swell or why she doesn't form colas, her flowers will be really small once dry. She has a very pleasant smell as well more on the floral and berry side mix with something pungent.
In general the Rocky Melon won't be some big yielders but they deliver on the smell and resin department for sure. Her are some pictures of the plants still in flower.
The last pic is of the Terple x Platinum #2, this one has still some time to go.

I wanted to try a reveg on the Rocky Melon#1 but I don't have enough space in my veg area for that, so I have to let it go for good and that sucks because I'm pretty sure she'll end being my favorite. It's often the case when a plant did not clone or you can't reveg her, she is the keeper of the run. At least it happened to me a few times over the years.
I have the RM#2 and RM#5 cloned and going strong, they will make some big bushes for the next flower session. The RM#2 is in a 30L(7,5gal) pot of light mix, she'll get some bat guano just before going in 12/12, I don't know how big she will be, her stretch was moderate on the seed run so the clone won"t take too much height neither. I have a huge clone of Terple x Platinum who will be flowered with her but this one has some has some legs, I'll have to train her bondage style to keep her height in check with the other plants. I got lots of bamboo sticks for that.
The RM#5 clone is in a 12L(3gal) pot of soil because she is not as big as her sister so that should be enough substrate for her, I will maybe put another 12L pot half filled under her if she is really vigorous in the first week of 12/12. She will get a good dose of bat guano to be sure she doesn't fade too early like she did in the seed run, she will get some grow/flo nutes( organic line of Terra Aquatica, former GHE) as ususal .
I did not choose which clones rooted or not so those are not my selection just the survivors, I will see after this clone run if I want to keep one of them, so far the one I really wanted to grow again is not an option but maybe one of those two RM will make change my mind.

I'll be late for the weekly update because I'm harvesting all the plants who were still in flower, they went to day 70/71, there is a ton of leaves so it's quite long to trim, it is mainly sugar leaves who will make a nice piece of hasch in a few days. I did not trim all the sugar leaves because on some phenotypes there is really a lot of them maybe I'll trim more of them once they are dry.
The Rocky Melon#1 harvested 10 days ago is very stinky and the high is super strong, pretty happy about this first run with LEDs, I have not made a lot more grams than my usual HPS run but used 25% less power, this is really important today with the crazy prices of energy. I'm curious to see the final weight of this run.
I'll comme back in a few days to make a proper update with pictures of each Rocky melon before the cut.
