I would hope that I never caught anybody red-handed with trash bags or duffel bags for their sake.
It concerns me that this isn't everyone's automatic response. I spent some time wondering if being "persecuted" for decades has led a lot of us to decide ethics are situational or if this is just another indicator of our overall moral decline. Really doesn't matter. Believing it is OK to take and use other's property without permission is a bad turn for civilization. He planted on neighbors property. Neighbor took plants. Lesson learned, don't plant on other people's property. If you do they might get taken.
This is cut and dry stuff. Why would he retaliate when he was in the wrong?
Also a point taken away for telling the guy.
Respect thy neighbor.
Bingo! You nailed it right there. It concerns me that this isn't everyone's automatic response. A friend grew a few plants in the bush behind a neighbors house. The idiot showed the neighbor. Just before harvest, the neighbor ripped his plants. Lol
Now that it legal this year, the neighbor planted his 4 plants. Should they be ripped as payback?
Personally, I'd let it go, but i have lots of weed.
I keep forgetting about the telling the landowner part. That makes no sense to me at all. Be curious to know how much time elapsed between notification and harvest. No response to notification could be an indication of no objection but it could also be: "Thanks, I'll be sure to harvest your gift as soon as they're ready". Strange story, but no justification for contemplating revenge against the landowner. The grower showed the neighbor who owned the land?
If he didnt voice an objection to them being on his land, that could be taken as not objecting.
If my neighbor came to me,and said he put plants in my backyard I would be neighborly, and ask him if he had a shovel or would he like to borrow mine.
I found 75 plants growing on my land a couple years ago (i have 500 acres of bush). I didn't touch them because... they were not mine. But by your reasoning, i should have taken them all? I don't agree.

What i wanted to do was leave him a big ol Facebook thumbs up sign.
Your a good guy. I would be upset that somebody is increasing the chances of getting me busted. That said I would leave a sign saying please find a different spot during harvest time.
That's retarded. If I'm growing on my own land and someone plants theirs on my land they're increasing my chances of getting my shit ripped by the cops, or whoever else they told about their shit. Plant on your own land or on city land or on Crown land. Stay the fuck away from my shit. It's basic respect. If someone grows on your land, you certainly can't get busted for it. They can only nail you for it if they catch you planting. Every other time it's found weed. I'm not talking about growing in your yard here. At most it's possession at harvest time. Easy to shake.
Wow. Lot of growers your way! That's retarded. If I'm growing on my own land and someone plants theirs on my land they're increasing my chances of getting my shit ripped by the cops, or whoever else they told about their shit. The number of responses shocks me. How can you be sure the neighbor ripped? And what was your friends motive for telling the neighbor anyway? Then he should have offered half right there. But since he didn't, he got just deserts. I don't even get why your neighbor would tell you he has 4 plants. I think the whole sitch is fucked and your very best move is to find better friends and neighbors.
Wow. Lot of growers your way!
1. He mentioned he planted and his response was something akin to "my neice could use them"
2. People don't just randomly stop on the road, go for a walk and pull up plants. It's a little rural.
3. You can see the new plants from the road in his garden now that it's legal.
4. Some of my life long friends are far from perfect. Some are from high school, some from college, and a few from work and there are idiots in every category. It certainly doesn't mean I'll dump them. Lol. I keep my friends. Even the imperfect and the ones I've hauled in to meet Mr Bill a few times.
I didn't mean to offend. Canada's rules are very different than anywhere else I guess. I actually prefer the state MMJ grow law that says plants must
be out of sight from the road and fenced. I think that law in Canada is ripe for problems and can even incite violence.
I take it you've never been busted. Believe me, nobody is out to protect you least of all the Government and the courts. The only person who will help is a lawyer and it's going to be very expensive. No offense taken. I tend to be curt when I'm at work. Lol
The rules here are a little different, but not much. What is very different is how our laws are executed. Cops need proof. And not "made up proof". Our courts, especially the Supreme Court dig to look for a breach of our rights. They won't stand for it. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't even have a Med license to grow at home.
Ironically, I just got a broadcast email from the company I work for about its Cannabis policy. It states in part "you must notify the company if you use cannabis for medical purposes..." almost immediately, a developer close to me responded (reply to all. Lol) "I'd like to know who is on drugs to treat their depression, menopause, viagra and hemeroids." Lol. It's simply none of their business. So much so that someone is likely to haul their ass in front of the Canadian Human Rights commission.
Sorry for the tangent, but if they don't see me planting weed there's no way they can prove I planted it. Period. And our laws will back me up even if they see a matching boot print.
Btw, I'd like to see them fenced in also. But with everyone growing their own, I doubt violence will be an issue. But violence downtown at 2am will always be fucked up.
