It really is an end to an era, and it has to be said that Sam's contribution made a huge changed to the Dutch and European cannabis seen and then the worlds'.
I am grateful Sam took Haze to Holland.
This is really sad news, my condolences to Sam's family, RIP Sam.
I hope Nevil was there to met Sam with a joint and is now showing him around heaven.

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
The corn is as high as an elephants eye,
An' it looks like it's climbing clear up in the sky.

“The greatest service which can be rendered to any country is to add a useful plant to its culture.” – Thomas Jefferson ( This was quoted by Sam in the linked article )

RIP, David. You’ll never be forgotten because you are a legend of the sacred plant, a legend of hashish, and perhaps the greatest legend in the industry. I’m honored to have met you in person and even had the chance to collaborate with you back in 2016.
Fly high, Skunkman!
My first post here, despite being registered since 2008… and I couldn’t think of a more meaningful reason to finally post.
This is something that I’ve never seen so thanks for posting it here.
While I’m saddened to hear the news, THIS piece of paper is VERY consoling to me.
It is a tribute really, tangible proof of a life well lived.
Just one thread here with his comments about the process involved in stabilizing Skunk # 1 has been a really great learning experience for me. When I get discouraged, I just have to re-visit these pages and realize how much has already been done for me.
The ground work is there for for many of us who have come late to the table. It’s always humbling and inspiring if I can remember how little I truly know.
Sam - (David Watson) - was always a friend to me - met him for the first time around the millennium - when I was on a mission to grow more growers - and he supplied me with many kilos of Skunk#1 - Skunk#1 x Haze - and Skunk#1 x Thai seeds - at such a very reasonable price - that I decided to give them away as freebies - with any and every order - thru my business called Seedsdirect at the time - and all who grew these seeds were very happy with the results - over several years - often I was told that these freebies were much better than whatever seeds were ordered - and when in Amsterdam I would often meet him over his place or at a coffee shop to chat about cannabis - he was the first guy to introduce me to CBD - when one day he asked me to toke on some dry sift trichomes that he told me wouldn't get me high - but might help any aches and pains I might have to go away - and surely enough - he was right -
Sam (Dave) - was so instrumental in helping to develop the cannabis industry we know of today - thru his studies - books and seeds - that I can't think of anyone who has made a greater contribution - and he will be sorely missed - not only on ICMAG - but throughout the whole wide world -
My most sincere condolences go out to his beautiful wife and family - who must know by now that Sam (David Watson) - was most certainly a great man - and loved by so many - for his life long dedication to cannabis - and helping the world to understand this very misunderstood plant - and I thank him - from the bottom of my heart -
