Hey folks, guess it's time to start my eastern Canada outdoor grow thread. Growing some RGS genetics so throwing my name in the hat.
Hoping these will be well suited to our climate. I got my hands on some STS so I can make some female crosses if I find a few winners.
My ladies; Freezeland IBL, Mighty Freeze, Whitey Freeze and GG #2.

I'll start with a nice little Freezeland IBL that is naturally starting to grow a double top.

Had to transplant earlier than I thought I would need to. They started looking pale and unhappy only 10-12 days from sprouting from soil. No wonder, look at the roots on this 10 day old mighty freeze! I inoculated them all with some Mykos mycorrhizae, that will get them going!

Here's a few more that I transplanted again, they don't stay happy for long in their pots. Not sure if it's the new LED light but they seem to be struggling, too intense maybe? When I grow under T8's they pray to the sky, under LED they claw. I'm doing everything exactly the same only difference is the light. But they are growing well and rooting like crazy, just not looking as healthy. These are 3 weeks old yesterday.
Here's a mighty freeze, bushing out real well! Has a real rugged stock for its size too.

Little update on progress, the following all germinated April 18-19. Let's start with a few nice GG#2, don't know sex yet.

Now for some freezeland IBL, the cool double top one first. I get a feeling this is going to end up being a rugged plant!
You can see some leaf burn on the oldest leaves, my first time with LED and learnt the hard way that they can burn young leaves too when put too close...

And one last one, an Iranian autoflower that's just coming back from nutrient defficiency due to being rootbound. Also suffered from light being too close earlier on. Did a transplant and she's starting to come back. This one popped out of the ground on April 13...

I've got one Freezeland that's different from the rest, has crazy fat leaves with only 3 fingers. Not sure if that pheno is a winner or looser. Anyone with freezeland IBL experience that have seen this fat leaf pheno? Pretty different from the double top one... View attachment 18838068
ran a 12 pack of the IBL last year and it was my favorite smoke out of roughly 10 strains (all RGS) hands down, no competition.. cant remember which was which but I saw 2 phenos out of my 12.. sadly didnt note the difference in leaf size in the sisters (they were closely spaced amongst a bunch of other ladies/strains) so can't give you any reference pertaining to that.. however, I did notice 2 phenos between the two. Both had a roughly similar sweet piney smell/ taste (absolutely spectacular, blew my expectations right out the water), but one had more neon pink pistils and the other had deep neon purple crystals and insane frost for an outdoor plant...

looked absolutely beautiful, truly wish I had pics to share right now.... sadly dont have anything but bagseed to run this season but for the next that Freeze IBL will be my top choice.

Densest (read: nugs like rocks, could damn near break a glass window if thrown at one :smoke:) product out of the 10ish (give or take, can list exact ones if anyone's interested.......) strains I had, no question.. and funny enough? least mold out of all... no signs of PM even with a couple other strains in same patch being hit hard with it. Absolutely amazing strain, cant recommend it enough.....

also.... the way it looks in the bag is truly special as well; was afraid the pink/purple pistils were going to fade while drying but I was more than pleasantly surprised to find they kept their beautiful & unique look no problem........:smoke:...... by now, most people in most places have seen a surplus of purple strains.......... but when you show people a green bud with neon purple pistils....? outdoor or not their eyes pop open...... RGS 4 lyfe :smoke:

also want to note that I loved every strain I tried from RGS so saying the IBL blew all others out the water for me on the smoke test is a big compliment considering all their other strains ive tried are solid as boulders as well....

Hey Tahoe,
Thanks for the great review of the freezeland, I'm liking everything I'm hearing.
At what latitude did you grow them and when did they finish for you?
Cheers!

the pleasures mine man, you got some nice smoke to look forward to thats for sure, excellent product.... grown at 39n and finished mid september, pretty much all phenos were ready simultaneously give or take a few....

they finish up really quick towards the end....... when I was checking to assess readiness I was surprised at the timing and actually gave them an extra week (no regrets there; however, will try samples of an earlier pull in subsequent seasons to compare) just in case; the pink/purple pistils were a bit disorienting for me towards the end (first time growing such) just cause I go by eye to gauge finish, but either way they seem forgiving....... whether i took them too long or pulled too early the product was astounding.......

not sure if it holds true on every run cause only had one season with her but i believe (wild guess atm) the darkness(??)/depth of the color in the pink/purple correlates to the readiness, and kind of wasnt too upset about leaving them a little longer after hanging them too because I feel like if chopped too early at least the ones with the pink pistils could end up turning out a bit light/white looking..... just speculation.......

also want to mention again her resilience. my enviornment is not the most conducive for outs and majority people who try around the way end up with pm or their buds are showing rot halfway into flowering... cant rememeber exactly because lot of strains but im 99.9% sure didnt pull not one moldy nug off the IBL last year... lot of rain, waaaaayyyyyyyyy too tightly spaced 6 footers in semi urban/suburban environment with subpar airflow... nicest product across the board from any spot that season, hands down...

close second however was RGS tangie auto believe it or not. great great old school stinky citrus orangey funk.......... the type of smoke that makes you feel like a young kid on the loose again ya know? :smoke:

cant wait to see pics of yours in full effect man she is such a beautiful plant in full flower that its almost hard to cut her down

Thanks Tahoe,
I'm at 46 lat so they will probably go a little later for me. I've got plans to cross it with early genetics to see if I can cut down the flower time but keep the freezeland benefits. That's why I've got mighty freeze too, to see how they turn out and when they finish. Ideally I'd like to have a good strain thats super mold resistent and done first week of September with good yields. Not asking for much 🤣

sounds like interesting project man....... with how stable that freeze seems? would be willing to bet it wont take you long to hit upon what your looking for.. are you going to do an open pollination or mark certain ones to be crossed with each other specifically? that mighty freeze is nice as well btw, had few of those around..

as for not asking for much.. :biglaugh:....... thats gold right there :biglaugh: and every single bean producing those results every single time no matter the weather etc to boot, right? :biglaugh:

Planning on selected a few best performers here and polinating those with female pollen. Hopefully end up with some good strains for around here 👍
We can get some good frosts as early as 3rd week of September. The fall rain comes around same time.
