f2 = SELF 2nd GEN REMOVED
f3 = SELF 3rd GEN REMOVED



this is how most of us talk in "CANNA TERMS"

Canna Term`s:
F1 = OUTCROSS 1st GEN
F2 = OUTCROSS then INCROSS 2nd GEN

S1 = SELF 1st GEN REMOVED
S2 = SELF 2st GEN REMOVED


but as col says,,,,,maybe its better using the S because it shows we are moving faster,,,,o

People are already jumping over themselves to get non-bred hack-a-minute seeds like these from seed sellers all over the net. It too is a problem. That's what some of us are trying to change here Rick... the improper, unethical, genetic eroding methodologies you describe and espouse; they are weakening the gene-pool.

Today's seed-making practices will lead to an event that will require future breeders to attempt to go back to old unpolluted breeding lines and landraces to retrieve germplasm that can heal the weakened pool. But as GITT said, the real traditional landraces are extinct or polluted beyond recognition thanks to years of US-led W.O.D and the skunkification of wild progenitors.

I've never seen f1 f2 f3 used for self-crosses of outcrossing species, and I studied plant breeding, biotechnology, molecular genetics, and population genetics at the post graduate level at a major university... fwiw.

f1,f2,f3 makes sense for plants that naturally self, but Cannabis is an obligate outcrosser unless we are speaking about lines specifically and intentionally selected for monocious traits.

heres my bro's ffa right before harvest. she is so F'NG SWOLLEN, the pistils look very sparse!!!this is the same plant i posted pics of earlier in the thread. not sure what day the pics were actually taken. to her left is an ecsd bout three to 4 weeks behind her. i wish he had used something for size referance, he couldnt get both hands, fingertip to thumbtip around the buds without squeezing a lil!!!!

some species of plants have mechanisms that avoid self pollination - presumably if it undesirable to their future welfare. i think its called self incompatibility, brassicas are one example.

could the fact that cannabis is self compatible and that some strains naturally have both male and female flowers indicate that natural selfing has sometimes been beneficial during it's evolution?
