As someone who was indoctrinated at a young age, I concur. It took me years to unlearn that there was a man in the sky who was in charge of everything, who I owed my life to, who would reward me only for believing in him, no matter the terrible things I might do. Scientific method certainly helped. Believing in kindness to living beings wiped it out.

Many of the institutions and human behaviors that exist today rely on some form of "that's how we've always done it" to perpetuate their existence, rather than a rational analysis of what really happens or could happen if things were done differently.

Concerning, "the man in the sky", it's possible human beings are a hybrid species and some "beings from the sky" had a hand in creating or manipulating humans for their own purposes. How and why we're here is a very interesting topic.

Sorry you had to go through religious indoctrination, it seems to be fading some, but the problem is, when a void is created by a cessation of one behavior, humanity has a habit of filling the void with something different but not necessarily better than the thing that's fading.

More kindness is never a bad thing. Thanks for believing that's important.
