Rappers & Weed

50 cent is a poser and styles p sucks balls anyway you cant discredit the entire rap scene for a few shitty rappers who wrote terrible rhymes. Snoop Dogg Is all I need to say he's "High Times Stoner Of The Year".

P.S: This exact thread has already happened before too. Almost identical to what you wrote.

I never had that problem, i dont listen to the shit. The whole scene is retarded, and whats with the baggy pants thing? they started out as hand-me-downs and 20 years later theyare selling 13 year olds pants 4 sizes to big.

The first person to wear those "gangster" baggy pants was pissed that he couldn't get pants in his own size, instead he had to wear his older brothers. Thats all there is too it.

Radium, I actually searched the forum for a thread pertaining to this, but I couldn't really find one.

As far as freedom of speech, I fully understand this(as I stated in the first post). And it doesn't just pertain to rappers. This quip also goes for any actors or other musicians who throw the "pothead" label around in the same manner that rappers do(some rappers seem to be more obnoxious with the way they relay their "weed" message than others). Don't get me wrong, I listen to alot of rap/hip hop, as well as alot of classic rock. They can throw around "purple" and "diesel" all they want, but it would really make me happy if they would elaborate a little bit. Getting busted for selling pounds of weed only proves that they have connections to get pounds of weed, not that they can tell indica from sativa. It's like when these guys talk about cooking up crack from coke, and brag about it over and over. "My shit's so good..blah blah". Then they rap about weed, but there's no detail to it like there is for their crack.
Like I said, it's really no big deal..but when they say "I got the best weed", I think most of us can legitimately disagree.

most of them really do have some of the best weed though, if they actually smoke weed you know they get the best, cypris hill is another group thats known for bud smoking, their favorite bud at one time was SAGE, these rappers go all over the world, have all the money they'd ever want, have groupies that will do anything for them, how wouldn't you think that they can get some of the best weed if they want it?

Alot of rappers don't even know what real dank is. There are some like the ones from Cali. I hear them talk about humboldt and shit like that. Most of them are just like "rolling down the street blowing on the fire dro". Everything is dro or purple haze to them. I'm not saying that all of them are fake and don't know shit but the majority of them don't.

Anyone ever listen to Devin The Dude.

I'm not typically into mainstream rap, but this "dude" has the best rymes. Really laid back and stoney.

Check him out sometime. I havn't heard any of his new stuff, but some good songs I've heard that I like are "Sticky Green", "Doobie Ashtray", ect.

peace

I respect all forms of music. I don't call genres that I don't like shit, I say that it's not my particular music. A bit of respect in the forums is all I'm saying.

ok fair enough... sorry. don't mean any disrespect to anyone that does like rap. i'm just someone who is more into the instrumental side of music than the lyrical side, so generally rap doesn't do it for me...

to each his own right? peace

Don't you think these rappers with all their money didn't go to Jamaica or the Netherlands? Most likely they smoked it and the knew the name, but that about it.

I'd love to give all artists(in this case rappers, because it seems to be alot more prominent in this culture) the benefit of the doubt, but I find it funny that so many of these "beefs" revolve around "you're full of shit..you didn't really do this or that", and then there's the herb subject. About 5 years ago, all I knew was Sensi seed strain names(basically keywords), had a connect ofr really good herb, and still thought that you could grow bud with an incandescent light bulb, hydro was 100x better than soil, and if you really wanted good herb, you throw it under a blacklight. It's one thing to be able to get good weed, but another to fully understand/respect the culture. Basically, if these guys are going to represent the culture, it'd be nice to be educated.

Ponically: I love Devin. His 2 the Extreme album is a little different than the one before(with "sticky green" and "reefer & beer", etc.). It's got that one song "Motha", which is great. He does have a line in that one song where he's talking about boarding a plane that goes "some helicopter/took my parter 3 months to grow".

I have no doubt that some artists grow, and I'm not calling bullshit on ALL rappers, but you get the idea. Of course, all of this happens when you quit "hearing" the music and start "listening". It also happens when you listen when you're sober. Unfortunately I've been sober for a little too long, and still listening to "good" music. I bet Tony Sinclair knows ALL about Tanquerray gin. If he doesn't, same deal.
