Rantings and Ravings

Thanks, aCBD. It was a happy harvest.

I have a couple of pounds of trim, old bud and shake that I've collected over the last couple of years. This week I'm going to concentrate it into bubble hash.

First though, it's cloning time. The little room is cleaned and ready to go.
Fun times ahead :canabis:
Bubble Hash.. the words alone are making me drool over here.
Much success and keep us posted. ☮️

Here's the clones 24 hours after cutting. They laid over within an hour of cutting but are starting to stand up again. I thought I did a pretty good job cutting and planting so I'm quite optimistic. A clone failure now would change my plans dramatically.

I couldn't find all of my trim but managed to process about 1 1/2 pounds of trim, shake and old unwanted bud. The other 1/2 pound is burried in one of our freezers and will turn up eventually. I only used 3 bags, the 220, 73 and 25 micron mesh. 90% came from the 73 and the rest from the 25.

Looks like about half an ounce. I can't wait to smoke some....

I went ahead and cleared out the undergrowth. They're close to where I want them and I'll trim here and there to increase air flow around the plants and help push growth to to plant tops. They look pretty good but were hurting during the last 10 days in the cramped little room. They'll perk up when they realize it's full on flowering time.

I've been smoking the Iced Skunk for a few days now. It provides a nice buzz and tastes good. Not kushy and not particularly skunky. My wife says it has a bit of a skunky smell but not much. I'm enjoying it a lot.

The final weight of the seed crop was 522 grams, well above my 450g goal. Looking at the clones, I'm expecting a larger crop due to more tops and fully mature plants going ito flower. I'm happy with the overall quality of the dried and curing buds and I'm relieved to be refilling my reserves. So far, everything has gone smoothly with no surprises.

I smoked a couple of hash reefers yesterday. I love hash!! I chopped it up with a razor blade when it was wet and fresh and then rechopped it again with a credit card when mostly dry. I may press half of it into a chunk but it's nice and convenient to mix and roll with tobacco when it's finely chopped.

I gave up smoking cigarettes several years ago but I still use them in my hash reefers. I tried mixing it with weed, but the flavor of the hash is overpowered by the weed flavor and it seems to be just an extra strong weed reefer. I get 2 or 3 hash reefers per cigarette so not a lot of tobacco. It's sure nice to have a little hash on hand for a change.

I fed the girls yesterday and added 5 ml/gal of Cal/Mag to the solution. It perked them up and they look a little healthier. It's been many years since I've grown clones so a bit of a learning experience for me. I'm curious about how much stretch and finishing time compared to the seed crop. These pics are at day 6 of 12/12.

the plant below is an Iced Skunk. It has a tight internodal spacing and grown into a ball of green.

The new clones are 11 days old and starting to root. I remove the dome twice a day for 15 minutes and have the vents fully open now. The plan is to ween them off the dome, then the bottom heat and repot them at 21 days.

Here's the flower room at day F10. They're not stretching like the seed crop did but look good.

The new clones are looking weary. The dome has been off for 2 days now and there is new growth on all of them. They're not pretty but I think they'll all pull through.

Yea i think you're right, looks like most of them will pull through.
I'm trying another cloning tek right now because my success rate dropped significantly.
If you wanna take a look
I went through the whole thread. My wife used to root her geraniums in perlite and it worked great for her. I've had my share of cloning failures too and it sucks. I'm going to stick to my current method for now. I've got a few improvements that I can implement and I believe I have enough clones for the next crop. I'm not proud of this batch as I'd like to see less leaf yellowing but I still rate it a success.

I grew strictly from seed for the last ten years. It was good because of the variety but was a little expensive. I'm hoping my cloning ability will allow more optionality in my growing. I still have to cut and root one more batch of clones this season in about 7 weeks.

Definitely, every clone that pulls through is a success. :)
I feel you on the seeds, they're comfortable and a lot of vatieties to choose from but with just one or two good mother, the pack of seeds is paid.

All 12 of the clones are actively growing new branching sites. I removed the bottom heat a couple of days ago and they're each taking up about 25 ml of ph water per day. I'll let them work on their roots for a few more days and then transplant them to their finishing pots.

I've labelled each clone with a letter to correspond with their respective donor moms. I should have done this with the seed crop and the first batch of clones but it is what it is. I only need 9 plants so I'll have to decide which ones to cull. The idea is to find my favorite phenos and just grow them for the final crop.

Day F18
The stretch is mostly over. It didn't amount to much, maybe 6 inches. They look pretty good.

The new clones have been transplanted. They have decent root mass and should perk up quickly. I culled one Iced Skunk and now have 11 clones which is 2 more than needed. I'll cull a couple more in a week or 2 after I decide which ones. Full speed ahead...
