I am just sitting doing bingers right now....so do you guys know what Trail Magic is?

Is it when you are long-distance hiking, and someone suprises you with water, food, a bed, etc. Well on Sunday, I worked some real FUCKEM style trail magic. I was meeting some of my people that are hiking the AT this season. I had water, and food. But I had something special for my boy. Suprised him with a gift of a zip of Kona Mist. You should have seen how stoked he was. Should at least get him into Connecticut.

Up-date: One of my clones rotted, but I think the other one is going to make it. I gave it a slight tug, and it seems to be taking a tenative hold on this world LOL. Mama got a little dry (I think I forgot to water it when I transplanted LOL) but she's lookin better now. As soon as I'm sure the clone takes root, we'll see if old Vin can live up to his avitar LOL.
Can't wait to see the new cloner in action Bro.

first EZ fuck up happened today, i replaced the frozen water bottle and did not set the back of the top on properly
went in a bit later and the pump sounded funny, i got water all over
lucky i had the system setting on a towel that got most of it LOL
lesson learned !! glad it was not over night either

i was wonderin why the pump (which emits heat) is actually inside the water res heating it up. seems like adding frozen bottles to it is a chore. did you let it run 24/7 and take the water temp out of curiosity? maybe it only goes to like low 80s which is fine, i think i get roots faster in warmer temps anyways.

wouldn't an external mounted pump be a better idea here? or at least the option to do it .. internal mounted for winter cloning in the chilly basement, and external mount for the summer months, or warmer climates ..

my thoughts exactly....but I don't own a cloner building company either.

I will say that my airstone is giving ridiculous bubbles ala dwc, and this new system I build will be 99.9%

it has an external air intake hole right? why not drill in 2 more holes like that - one above the water line, and one at the base, pull water from the bottom into external mounted pump - then pump back up and into that bbq looking mister manifold. provide external hole plugs if you want to run the pump internally.

another thing to consider, dropping in waterbottles introduce bacteria and shit from the air, your fingers, into the water also, might be unevenly cooling the water, ice cold pockets near roots, will make it cold there and take forever to root in colder water, no? i guess if it works it works

didn't think of this, but now i might stop

i know this, if ever i happen to break this one beyond repair
another will be easy to build, now that i have seen one in person
however i see it lasting many many years, as its pretty sturdy built

I think you've answered the question xoox: more places to leak, product failure, more work. But in fact, they also are probably not anticipating the types of temperature issues that we keep eluding to. Honestly, I've had mine in like 90+ degree temps. with no difficulty. Some clones may get mushier in the summer...but I don't do temperature control. I don't slap ice or frozen water bottles in either....it's just IMHO superfluous. The warmer temperatures encourage root development (ie-people usually put clones or seedlings on a "heating blanket"). Yes, it's true you don't want it to be like a steam bath, but in about a week's time alot of clones will root....10 days even more...2 weeks you should be done. In that time, I add a bit of good old tap water to the mix if it looks like it's drying up or if the pump sounds like it's running with less water. The unit should function without any assistance except light with a healthy dose of peace and quiet. The most difficult thing about using the unit is cleaning it...

Raist: what's the ambient temperature in the room? Not the temperature of the reservoir...just air temperature. As long as it's not 100+ degrees, you should be fine...if that's the case however...move EZ cloner somewhere it's light and cool. It can utilize sunlight from a window or even a really small flourescent light above it (30 watts or less) as the sole light source. I'd dump the whole ice-bottle routine.

I run mine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week unless cleaning....It's designed to be used in that manner, not intermittently. So putting it on a timer, making it go on and off....will probably change how quickly the roots develop. I've never attempted to do that, so all I can do is offer conjecture. The pump is not really a huge/significant source of heat...especially when the water is constantly being oxygenated and spread around.

hey i got an idea, t the external air tubes and pipe in AC cooled air bubbles, or some how mcguyver one of those mini fridge/heater combo thingz piezo/electric cooling plates to chill the water. just don't get electrocuted in the process !

ima hold off on the bottles unless i need them, BTW the cuts small as they may be still look very healthy

Yep always look out for the ones that look out for you. Shit even look out for people you dont know if you can just to get your karma points up in life. Ive made many a good friend on the forums and whenever they shoot through my area all they gotta do is shoot a pm to come over and puff down and bbq.
