Radioshack Microscope

C

Chamba

taking cuts of leaves and watching them under a microscope is a waste of time......it's much easier to use a magnifyer that can used to check out the buds on live plants.

i've got a small metal cylinder type magnifying glass...it's 20X or 30X, no adjustment and no batteries.. I've had it for years and it works fine,,,you can easily put it to your eye and get in close, checking out different sections of the bud within seconds...but no having inbuilt illumination means you have to position yourself so there's plenty of light on the trics you are looking at..to hold the bud steady, grip a leaf on the other side of the bud with your other hand and bend over the bud to hold is still

chamba, i like your description! :D

not wantin to spend $ on somethin as crappy as the rs scope... which always makes me ask "is that worble dust or color?" not that ive been able to ever see color :puppydoge lol

I have the same problem with the POS Radio shack one it slike i just get sooo sick of staring and squintign with one and trying to hold the plant in the light to and keep it from moving its such a pain in the ass, i myself am gonna get the jewelers loupe right now, ill post reviews in comparision to the shitty radio shack "microscope" , it gives me such a headache after i use it.

Heh. I'd rather snip a tiny leaf off than go gripping and leaning in on my plants. I could just picture myself going head over heals into 20 gallons of potted plants because I was trying to look at trichs still on the bud.

Not to mention the area is CRAMMED so in short of pulling everything out of the flower room to look at a bud, snipping a tiny piece from a far corner plant is not a problem.

I did not decrease my yeilds.. sheesh. :joint:

I tried the loupes first, and went out and bought the RD micro after.

30x loupe cant compete with a 60x-100x lighted scope, IMO.

lmao... missed the decreased yeild comment. that was never why i've been curious about a comparison! just i've had a hard time seeing color... actually been wishin the light was brighter.

yah, i purchased a 30x loupe in the hopes i would be able to check the color of the trichs. While the RS sucks for trying to look at buds on the plant, the 30x loupe doesn't give a clear enough picture. I still can't tell if the trichs are clear, amber, etc, guess it's back to squinting through the scope and taking a stab at when to harvest lol. At least the 30x scope was only 5 bucks.

can't believe... finally see red!! :D silly scope i got only likes new batteries, lol. old batts don't give enough juice to light correctly.

ty 99redmushrooms for your comparison!

Sorry for the delay but as redmushrooms said i just finished using it and im pretty pissed off its great to look for pest and etc plant sex bnut its deff not good enough for the trichs at all, i already got another headache from using this piece of shit radioshack microscope , there must be another way.....

Shine a flashlight onto the bud or leaf from the side if you want a little more light. Lighting it from underneath is cool looking too.

use a glass table and shine a flashlight from underneath it works fine for me, personally i'd go with a good digi cam and take some macro shots, but thats a pain in the ass too.

The MM-100 is the one I have and it works great but like someone said it takes a little while to learn to use it.

I use a 10X loop, like the kind you would use to pick a splinter out with. I can see the trichs just fine. I got some cloudy right now.

hey all like to see this thread still going lol the radio shack microscope is capable of seing this

just a snipit tip of trichrome covered leaf from here and there off bud in question, place these on white paper and enjoy the zoom from 60-100 power magnification. 2 pics above taken @ 100 power mag there is no decrease in yield from a snipit here and there taken, after all it is just the tip of the leaf the plant still grows with the rest of the leaf :)

i use a 10 power jewelers eye for preflower inspection

I took this a couple of years ago with the same (more or less) Radioshack microscope.. before Circuit City bought em out here in Canada.

My SONY CyberShot 4.1 mp actually fit perfectly with the microscope, they actually 'locked' together, so i have no problem taking the photos with my camera.

i have both, but i usually only use the 5/10/15 when it's doubled or tripled. it makes the fov silly, but i can see shit a little better.

the microscope is ok, tiny tiny fov like the above pictures demonstrate. the light is only powered with fresh batteries.

EDIT: i justed had it on for 10 minutes, and the bulb brightened considerably. i hadn't considered it needed to warm up like bulbs do. also, i can stick my cell phone camera against the small rubber eye piece of the microscope, and zoom in until the small circle fills the 3" screen.

sweet. and it auto focuses within small distances too. 4.5mm 2Mp
the quality difference is obvious, but i'm blazed and honestly didn't think to stick my phone up to eyepiece, just lamented i can't find my cameras' battery. hah

but...
buying a 50 dollar kids microscope set from toysrus or a hobby store is better though, 3 rotating lens sets, glass slides and all that. and the kids sets had those adapters for projecting your view onto a wall. came with tadpole, bee, bubblehash, oh...that's mine...weird..

i still use my old one, probably about 16-20 yrs old. but i see them around here n there. it was tasco or tandy, i don't know.

I had the RS 60X-100X and it isn't worth shit( to me) for looking at trics while on the plants.

The lil hand held 5X-10X-15x from RS for $8.00 works fine for me. Very easy to use.

That same RS 60-100X piece of shit is advertised in High Times under a differeent brand for GET THIS!!

$24.95 plus shipping !!!!!!!!!! wHAT A RACKET/RIPOFF THAT IS!!
