I'm growing dirt bro,my tapwater is just garbage I know I've done just about everything else I can think of lol,my dehumid water isnt enough for half my vegging plants usually.I recently watered my flowering plants with straight tap set out for awhile on the 16th,by the 18th they were yellowing like shit for no reason.I've only noticed this when I use straight tap,not tap with nutes.I guess I've been noticing it awhile, just putting it off.I think it'll make a big difference problem is too much calcium, probably locking out my potassium along with other good shit.My dogs bowl is just totally calcified,I hate running that shit through my roots.I think I've been saved my 1K hortilux and good environment,my water sucks ass

The barrel with a float valve should do the trick for ya then...just let it run 24/7 and whenever the water level is low enough it will add more to the barrel. One of the 100+ GPD setups off ebay should be plenty.

ty for the link to the float valve that is the smallest I have ever seen, truely perfect for a 55 gallon drum/rp system, ty for the link you have saved myself as well as others some $

I only used the bladder tanks because I was told I had to and I could only find heavy duty brass float valves that cost at least half the price I was paying for bladder tanks

That is exactly the one I have MMJFarmer. It would for sure handle all of your watering needs for 3K of lights. Comes with everything you will need to hook it up as well.

I got a unit off Ebay(Pure Pro)....booster pump added because I,m on a well and needed the xtra pressure.100 gallons a day.
I use a solenoid off a CO2 system hooked up to a timer to come on for 15 mins and off for an hour. This way I can fill about two 30 gallon garbage cans in 24 hrs.which does me 3 or4 days. When an RO says 100 gallons a day it is almost impossible to achieve this amount,or so I,ve discovered after owning three units over the past 6 yrs.
The Pure Pro which I use has a digital gauge on it to give read out of ppm at different levels according to the amount of water you run off.It also reads when membrane is being flushed and when the booster pump kicks in.My tap water runs 600/800 ppms and the water outta the Ro runs about .0200 which is almost nothing.I have two pre-filters going into the unit to keep the shit gettin to the membrane to a minimum. Also two charcoal filters added to it.I found a mineral filter on a web site which can be added to my unit which supposedly adds calcium and magnesium to the water comin, outta the ro unit...dunno how good this new mineral filter would work but for $30 I,m gonna give it a try....If it does indeed work it may be good as RO water usually needs Cal Mag addd to it.....when watering plants or at least in my situation..
peace out

how do I go about getting this to fill a 75 gallon horse troff? just take the exit hose and put it in there and turn it on?

I got the three stage Aqua Safe RO system (125 gpd I think) years ago along with a box of filters. I'm still using it to this day. My starting PPM is around 300 (well water)...after the RO it's about 10 PPM. It's a great system for the price and last a very long time. I would buy from Aqua Safe again if I ever needed another system.
I've been thinking about getting a larger holding tank cause it's a pain in the ass to fill 5 gal jugs all day...and if you forget that your filling....LOOKOUT!! You'll flood the place.
The RO system is hooked directly into your incoming water source and will continually produce RO water unless you have it tied into a pressure tank or a shut off valve. And don't think that 125 gpd system will actually get you 125 gal a day...in reality it's less than that. And if your looking into getting an RO system be sure that your incoming water pressure is at least 40 to 60 PSI. Anything lower will produce almost nothing (the more pressure you have the more water gets pushed through the membrane).
All in all it's well worth it. I remember the days of going to Wal-Mart once a week and coming out with 40 to 50 one gal jugs of water...what a pain in my ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh yeah...all you guys with RO systems, don't forget to rinse the membrane for about 30 minutes every month or so. You'll get better results if you keep up on the maintenance.

hey bud, i've flooded the house enough times forgetting that my rez is filling. you can get quite a bit of water letting that thing run for 8-9 hours, or even a whole day. it sucks. anyway, i wised up and got a couple of float valves, they are cheap, about 8-10 bucks a piece, get a 55 gallon drum and you are good to go, use a pump and garden hose to pump water out where ever needed. here's a pic

For anyone that doesn't mind dropping $400 for a quality, fast RO system, you can get the Merlin. It pumps over 1/2 gallon per minute. Definately worth the extra money to me to save all that time of keeping track of when it's on.

yup, that's what i'm talkin about! how much water does that waste in a given day? and when i say waste, i mean the filtered baddies.

Maistre , or anyone with the right experience ... Do you need to have the 2 1/2 gallon tank hooked up on the other end of that T line in order for the float valve to work with the 55 gallon drum ??? Obviously that was kind of an old post so someone else can feel free to chime in ...

Also what exactly were the size/type of lines and T you had to buy with that to get everything hooked up right??

I use a 125 GPD RO unit... those small tanks are 2 1/2 gallon... not 5 gallon.

Ono... I run a T and split the line BEFORE it goes to the small 2 1/2 gallon tank.... thus the line flowing to the 55 gallon drum is always dripping... UNTIL my 55 gallon drum is full...at which point a float valve stops it.
