Alcohol is a real devil! I swear, a friend of mine was so drunk that he drowned in a puddle. Another one smother on his own puke. But I think everybody had such storys.
When I am in a Supermarket, I see meters of meters shelfs with Alcohol. It´s sick! Babylon.
But myself isn´t a saint, I drink a bottle of redwine every evening. As I was younger I drank often to much and every bullshit in my life had to do with alcohol. All the time I drank only in the evening.

Haven't chimed in...in awhile. Hanging in there, though it's been ruff being the holidays and all. Seeing all my people and friends have one or two like normal people can do.

I just remind myself that I'm not normal when it comes to drinking. Shit... I know if I just have that one drink... well you know that story.

Glad I grow some potent smoke. It's saved more than once from drinking. Yeah I know I'm just trading substances for another, but it far less detrimental than drinking, for me at least.

Everyone out there struggling, hang in there. There's life still to live without alcohol. Mine life has improved greatly, yours can too.

Grow them 'hard mode'...old ICmag saying, and have a great 2017 fellas.

Peace, joe :dance013:

was just looking through my post history to find a different thread and saw that I posted here years ago.

I am currently now 4 months sober, after 10 years of getting drunk almost daily.
I was never to the point of waking up with shakes or anything, but i really enjoyed drinking alone at nights after work and during the weekend. I couldn't stop myself from drinking really...

I tried AA, tried will power etc... what finally worked for me was this

https://www.amazon.com/Stop-Drinkin...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=NTYRGGJRBRBX12K6T4A9

Allen Carr's easy way to stop drinking. I opted for the audio version available on audible.com and listened to it while driving

So far so good, definitely worth checking out if you are struggling. (its pretty highly rated and has a good success rate if you're willing)

You can buy baclofen online and have it mailed to your house. Once you have it you can sober up enough to leave the house and see a doctor for a prescription, if you want to. I'd rather buy it on my own instead of going through a doctor.

Phenibut is also cheap and easy to find online. Switching from heavy drinking to phenibut cold turkey is painless. From there you can taper off the phenibut if you want 100% sobriety.

this is why i read icmag ^

never even heard of these two substances before...

I come from an alcoholic family. Like almost everyone including myself has had issues with the stuff as far back as my great grandad....anyway, now i'm curious to see if this Phenibut can help a family member that's getting old and can't stop drinking cause of "bad nerves" aka, anxiety....

Good luck to anybody on this mission of trying to quit alcohol or any other substance! This is a problem that hits home 100... if anybody needs advice or somebody to talk to, PM anytime. Will be up front, it is NOT easy! However, if I've done it, any of you can. No, it didn't happen the first time, probably didn't work the 10th time, but when you REALLY want it bad enough and are truly ready, it will happen. And you MUST get rid of the 'I can have one and will be fine'. This mentality is crazy and will lead to the same patterns. Good luck

I have not read all 100 pages of this thread. So I apologize ia if this has been covered.

I tried a new therapy for pain recently called Naltrexone. They warned me that a side effect (for me) was going to be not wanting to drink. And for sure that's the case. Come to find out, it's a drug to take people out of opiate od, and for alcoholics to stop drinking. Pain therapy with it was experimental (and didn't work for me).

But while on it, you couldn't pay me to drink. The thought of it is off-putting. If you drink, you won't get sick...but you also won't like it.

I've been off it for many months now, and I still can't think about a drink.

For many people, it's breaking the cycle that's the hard part. Much like smoking. Naltrexone helps you do that. I would recommend anyone who uses it be under Dr. supervision. If you have been drinking heavily for a while, quitting immediately can cause seizures and/or death.

Imo, it's def worth looking into if nothing else has worked for you. The only side effect I had was that it makes your stomach a little upset when you start it.

I told one friend about it who was drinking a liter + per day of scotch. He started at 50mg day, and hasn't thought about it since. It's weird, it actually removes your desire to drink...that's what it feels like anyway.

I forgot to add that I DID drink while taking it, twice. Both times, I had to force myself to, and it was just to see what would happen. The first time, after finishing one drink, that was enough. I felt physically tipsy (I make strong drinks), meaning, mechanically, I could see the results. But you also feel absolutely no pleasure from it. So in the mood department, it feels just like drinking water. No effect. The liquor won't make you happy, or giggly, or forget about your problems. It stops affecting your brain like it used to.

The second time, I took a sip of a beer and immediately handed it back to my wife.

Even if there is alcohol around, even if it's in your hand...for whatever reason, you don't want it. It might as well be a broccoli and brussel sprout smoothie. No joke.

How much easier would it be to quit drinking if you didn't want to ingest alcohol? That's the whole game right there.

I don't work for them or any medical company. It's genuinely a "wow" drug for opiate/alcohol addicts. Check it out, it might be the solution you need, and as drugs go, it's relatively harmless. Like I said, even 4 months later, I still can't look at a drink.

Check This- I got some fermented skate/Rat fish liver oil @ greenpastures in 2016. I started taking this oil every morning daily @ 2 mm a serving.. after the first week I realized I had zero desire for alcohol- zero... It's been a while and I basically have had like two bottle of wine over the last two years and those two lasted a week or more each with most of the last bottle being used for cooking LOL...
I had not read anywhere this happening when researching the rat fish oil and have not seen mention if it since but it happened to me... if you are interested check it out... I personally started using it to help clean out calcium pineal gland deposits and to enter dream states better which the first two weeks I dreamed like Crazy crazy full blast dreaming!

Edit- the Norwegians used/use fermented fish oils all the time and the recipe at greenpastures is based on that...........
