Back when the whole indoor garden deal was getting started, there were 3 grow stores in Portland and 2 in Seattle.

One of those stores was/is "Halide of Oregon" which is now AmericanAg. Based on this article and their activities during Operation Green Merchant years and years ago is reason enough for me not to do any business with them.

Their soil, i.e. Blackjack, may actually be worse than Black Gold Potting Soil - no small feat.

Blackjack soil is terrible, but appealing to the lazy crowd. I was given a bag for free and still have room to complain. :biglaugh:

Having said that, the bud shots I posted here were of plants grown in Blackjack. My buddy loves the stuff.

I have a fantastic LifeStar Bog's lifesaver X Sensi Star mom and I just started my remaining LifeStar seeds looking for a male for some back crossing. But a little pollen on a Star Treck mom might produce a real keeper strain! :abduct: I can get to PDX for an exchange- PM if you have interest and you can show how you will help fellow med users.:woohoo:

I smoked some herb purported to be Dirty Old Hippy a good while back. I thought it was a dumb name someone had attached to it after it was grown (anyone seen pineapple express!! ha!) It had no qualities I distinctly remember except the name, although it was good pot. I think I remember it being a hashy indica. I've smoke the pink grapefruit pheno of sweet tooth also. Top notch, I'd grow it if i ran across more than dried nuggets. Star trek sounds interesting, how does it yield in a SCROG setting? Anyone?

And on the subject of best grow shop, I go with Northern Light and Garden in Beaverton. I have been given countless free products, helped beyond what I would ever expect as a customer. I forgot my wallet once when purchasing nutes, I still left the store with $300 in product, simply on my word of future payment. Nuff said.

Trace, the six-time-felon (his words) is capable of selling popsicles to the Eskimo people. He's a great sales person.

So when you're tired of spending above MSRP after "your special 20% discount" try out American Agriculture or the place Clackamas Coot refers to. Yes, everyone under the sun gets the same run. Call on the phone, ask the price of something, "X amount after your discount." But you haven't said your name. It's a shell game in there.

Thanks for the information on Dirty 'ol Hippy, will see if it's worth chasing after I smoke a sample.

RE: Northern Lights Grow Store

The Northern Lights deal had several branches. One of those was one up in Vancouver, Washington as well as operations in Salem, Eugene and Grants Pass.

There came a time when that group decided (for whatever reasons) to split, the managers at the various stores were able to 'buy' that specific operation. The fellow up in Vancouver, WA bought that operation and then changed the name to "Indoor Garden Depot" and then later opened a store in Milwaukie, Oregon with the same name. Good fellow actually. He's got a degree in chemistry so it's always interesting to discuss growing processes with him. The young gentleman who runs the Milwaukie store is a also a good dude. He'll help you any that he can based on my experience.

The Star Trek strain would be difficult to grow in a SCROG setting. Given the way that it grows, i.e. a typical single-cola Indica deal, you'd be hard-pressed to get any yield growing this strain with the SCROG method.

Then again, I could be wrong.

Hello from central coast.

I am interested in the Oregon medical program but the list of debilitation conditions is pretty slim. I have more general issues (depresison, insomnia, headaches) which I use meds for but the Oregon criteria seems really slim. I want to be as honest as possible, so what conditions have you folks been approved for? I don't even like to go to doctors in general, but would participate in the program if need be. Sick that we can't choose our own medicines for ourselves and essentially have to bribe someone to get "permission".

Anyway, I would welcome advice on how to go about this.

When I took my medical 'history' to a clinic the doctor told me "Your medical condition is why this law was written." I qualified in 4 out of 10 conditions listed by OMMP.

Even my 'regular doctor' later signed by renewal the next year. And the next year. And the next year. And the next year.

If you have a condition which qualifies under Oregon's law then the process is stupid-easy.

If not then it's not so easy, IMHO

MASHUP Let me know how it goes!

CF Where/when/what is the caregivers cup?
Grinchy

Both ORNORML and OGF (Oregon Green Free) both hold cannabis cups in and around the month of November. Something like that.

Contact them for details.

BTW - ORNORML sucks. In case you're interested.

No shit on the salesman part. And the discount horseshit every shop pulls. And I can attest to the six time felon part. And hes a dirty motherfucker, one time he was casually watching then showing me porn on the work computer. But Trace was the guy who let me walk out of the store with almost $300 in product, without paying, and said come back soon (not any % over MSRP, under I just checked AN's MSPR). And Trace is the guy who has matched, every price I've ever found on the internet or seen in another or been quoted in another store.

Can't blame the guy for making money off suckers.

I have been to the NORML one, atleast I thought it was run by them a few years ago at harvest. It was lame. I'll check out OGF, thanks for the word!

mashup-

both these cups are for medical patients only....

ogf holds two "cups" a year. the one in spring is the real deal i'd say, the Oregon Green Free Caregivers cup. it is coming up in april. where i think is only disclosed once you have bought your ticket. the cup is to create a data base of what strains work for what ailments. then you can receive info on how each sample was grown and whatnot. pretty much F'n awesome. the havest cup which is the later in the fall, seems more like a party and celebration of the outdoor harvest. over all good times.

norml cup. i dont really know, I am an OGFER to the fullest. as far as im concerened Or norml, just isnt near the same thing. the or norml meetings are a huge wait outside in a line, for next to nothing but a large smoke out. i dont waist my time driving to portland super early to wait for hours out side to getna weak purple urkle clone, full of bugs. i went and was in real need of clones for a new patient(before i found ogf), and was told they "help patients" at the meeting. it didnt really seem like much help. all the clones were pretty week. and the ones that were nice were gone in seconds. so as far as im concered its a waist of time and resources.
