Purple Strain Connoisseur

This was an unexpected purple plant I just harvested. I grew out some Nirvana strains this time, Chrystal, White Rhino, and Wonder Woman. One of the Wonder Woman plants turned out dark purple, so dark it's almost black. It has a wonderful unique aroma, but I haven't sampled it yet to determine quality. Unfortunately, this (and the other Wonder Woman female) turned hermie. I let this one finish anyway just because I've never seen a plant like this in person before.

These aren't the best quality pics, but I seem to have lost my good camera. I shouldn't attempt photography while high again if I ever find it.

These are the buds I just finished trimming tonight. One plant each of Chrystal, White Rhino, and Wonder Woman.

I'm sure people have mentioned DJ in here..

what I know on his strains:

-lighting can affect coloring
-temps can affect coloring
-obviously pheno dependent
-flower time, as in length letting the pheno go
-nutrients
-veg time

also are we talking leaf, or bud or both here?

I'll be adding to the purple family list soon with a X I made and am now inbreeding. It consists of VBSXBlueberry. VBS: given out as a freebie years back o4/05 if I remember correctly. It was thought to be either Somablaze's (R.I.P) Blackberry clone in S1 form or BlackberryWidow which was his clone X'd to a Widow father but and was named VeryBerrySurprise so as not to mislabel it. Regardless those freebies were awesome and gave the most amazing purple plants I've yet had and other people grew out some insane one's also but potency was it's weakpoint. Some plants were actually quite strong whilst others were barely noticable when smoked. But the colors and aromas alone made the plants more than worth growing IMO and I'd buy more if they were freely available just for the colors they pass on. I germed my last 3 beans last year and got 2 plants. Both purple from the start.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make more seed as (I'll be honest) I was basically too lazy to go and grab a silver coin from a shop which takes 10 minutes to get to and as such didn't have any CS to reverse one of them so I hit the nicest one with a sativa leaning Blueberry male with lots of color but fairly plain ball sacks, just a bit stripy purple. Luckily the seeds I have now are following their mother except one that looks like a Blueberry Indica! bizarre... The mother ended up being some really nice smoke by chance (not super strong but an enjoyable and very happy high/stone) and that was after I'd de-seeded her buds so she could have been a caner!?! Anyway the plants are all healthy, I only planted 4 this run but am going to make seed as there is are 2 awesome girls and a boy who's also purple in veg too. I've got pics of them in my album but my net is stalling right now so I'll post them later.
re: the photos above were taken at the start of summer or the end of spring I forget but these things are genetically purple and cold only makes the show more interesting. I''ll be flowering the current one's out during late winter early spring so expect a shitload of purple.

There's a difference in a strain between purple and black.

Purple skunk in Jamaica. Not sure of genetic lines but its purple and covered in trics. Flat out narcotics. Been known to put the battle hardened vet to bed anytime of day.

I finally found my good camera. The Wonder Woman buds ended up a beautiful shade of dark purple with a little green mixed in. One of my Blue Satellite plants from my last grow turned slightly purple / blue, but this Wonder Woman plant is the first one I've grown that had buds like this. The plant hermied and had a low yield, but the buds look and smell so delicious. I'll try a smoke test tonight.

The Wonder Woman leaves turned purple early in flowering, and they got darker and darker over time. The big fan leaves were black by harvest time. Buds and trim from Wonder Woman on the right and Chrystal on the left:

my best purple has been purple wreck, purple urkle, and purple diesel.qrazy train might be in this category soon as well, the way shes lookin. ive gone through grape ape, a couple different gdp's, querkle, deep purple, lvpk, pk sr71, gorilla grape, mendo purps, and some others.

right now im reversing urkle to herself, purple diesel, and some others like c99pineapple, two phenos of incredible slh, exodus cheese, livers, peach, og, qrazy train and a few others.. should make for some super tastey, purple strains..

Im especially excited about urkle x purple d. and urkle x slh(cmp-my favorite all time).. yumm.. i can see it now.. super purple lemon haze and double purple diesel
