That's an interesting point Ganja Baba ! I agree, but i've found that it's not always like that, it can be more fruity with berry taste.. I had a purple hashberry like that.the more purple you try to bring out in breeding the more the lavender smell and poor high comes back , its like purple =s lavender .
That could explain why my hashberry has not this purple taste... Maybe some people on ic used to bred purple could have an explanation ??the only way to avoid this let down is to know for sure , you are using landrace purple sativas , like say highland bangladeshi

But most purple i grow turned with a taste a can no longer smoke, the lavender taste...Since i had 3 purple phenos of Bubblicious which turned purple, about 180g to smoke, purple lavender taste is not for me anymore.

Also i've smoked a few berry strains, most of purple phenos i smoked came from normally green strains...
A friend of mine just got a Sweet Blue Joint Project, Blue pheno, i'll take some picts... The smell is nothing like purple, more berry fruity...
++
any one else agree or am i a purple basher lol ....

You said we have already covered it, and we have. There is a lot of pot that is just as you said, purple but with that lavander/spicey taste, very low resin content, and mild potency. Then there is the california purples, which are elite heriloom lines that have nothing to do with the majority of what breeders sell as purple: purple power, twlight, etc.
Many folks will germinate seeds from a breeder who uses a purple male skunk(Nirvana seed co.) and select one of the purple plants. While they are pretty to look at, they fit into your description of weak purple pot. I am willing to bet this purple afghan is of that category, no disrespect.
