Purple JollyRancher (Designer weed)

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that's how most consumers/non-growers think these days, hell even a lot of actual growers even on this very site.

All you hear about in the weed world these days is three things:

1. Kush
2. "Purple"
3. Diesel

I'm so tired of hearing about "kush" especially. It seems the majority of cannabis culture is caught up in indicas and hydroponics. Oh well.

purple weed is played out. the only purple i like is the purple kush

Real purple. such as urkel, grape ape, gdp, dj shorts blueberry. all purple that dueces all over any kush i've had. But i do agree there is a HUGE obsession with purps(nor-cal) and kush(so-cal). diesel is an alright strain, but nothing to write home about. And a lot of people don't realize jcolor doesn't mean shit, usually temp related. but i know some people who have given there plants grape juice, and boy do they turn purp! but the herb still sucks. all in all i have to say though KUSHES and true PURPLES are the best genetics, diesel is a great base strain too, but crossing of these strains is the future for great buds.

you wonder why people are obsessed with kush and indicas... better highs, sweeter tastes, nice dense bud structure. all around i think indicas are just a much stronger genetic line than your sativas. my .02

I like the purple weed I get here in cali because it's GOOD WEED, not because it is purple. I've had some shitty purple weed( Blackberry S1 ) that made me laugh.
Generally though if you get something purple in cali it's going to be either Purple Urkle, GDP, Purple Kush, Purps, Grape Ape, or Lavender...I may be forgetting some. These are all A+ strains in my book...hence why there may be some hype over purple weed in cali. These strains all have a heavy kushy earthy smell and taste that you just can't get enough of with a unique high.

Ganico...from the way you speak I'm guessing your not from california, and you grow sativas in organic soil mixtures. I'm happy for you, but let people enjoy what they want. There is a reason people craze over Kushes and Diesels. They are quality herbs and I don't think anyone can argue with that. BTW OG kush and Sour Diesel are more sativa than indica IMO.

Did you guys read the article in this years High Times Master Grower's Guide about Chemdog? According to the article, OG Kush and NY Diesel are pretty much the same plant in that they both originated from the Chemdog strain. If you've smoked both strains then this probably wouldn't surprise you.

I purchased some Jolly Rancher buds at the Green Door yesterday it is very stoney. I would like to know how much they yield. I am just finishing up my crop of Purple Cream the yield was not what I expected about 140gm under a 400w HPS

I think the OP was correct in some regards. Purple weed sells itself, regardless of high or taste. Designer Weed, indeed. Kinda like those POS clothes you see but with the fancy label. Some fit and some are for show.
