Pure Power Plant -lets hope for a female

Hey whats up y'all

i had some left over Power Plant seeds so i decided to grow them and start a thread. I think a thread will keep me focused and help me along the way.
This is not my first grow,but i am still a student learning, so feel free to drop in and share your thoughts.

For starters i only had 4 seeds to play with... i germinated the four using the paper towel method(actually with a random*clean* napkin from kfc lol)
all four seed sprouted in 1 day. I have to admit Nirvana seeds always sprout fast for me.

I placed the four spouted seeds in a small seed starter tray with soil and perlite.
i placed them under one cfl i think like 30 watts.
after 2 or 3 days..2 seedlings looked very week-and about to die.
the next day they were dead. I removed them.

Then there were 2.

So i put a humidity dome on to try and boost up the root growth b4 transplant.
I transplanted the 2 survivors(probably too early)about a week later.

this is what im running
SOIL MIX:
Soil +promix+Perlite+Blood meal+Bone meal+vermicultite+bat guano(which is better for flowering ,but i put a bit in)

2 ghetto thermometers
MYLAR
2 10"inch pots
2 honeywell fan blowers(for intake and circulation)
2 powerful little comuter fans moded to adapters (one is for some exhaust-the other is just blower air to cool down the ballast.
i do own a 6inch vortex fan if needed

250 watt MH
400 watt HPS

and a cab that has been recontructed like 10 times in the last 2 years

Crossing fingers - do you have experience with PPP? Sounds like you've grown it out before since you only had 4 seeds left.

This will actually be my first time with PPP
the seeds were leftover from a past order from Nirvana..i gave my bro the rest. ..lol i cant believe im even in this situation with 2 unsexed plants!
This will be the least amount of plants yet.
I NEED A GIRL-but 2 girls would be nice

Well i got bugs.
APhids i do belive,little bastards!
so i have been feeding a drop of bleach and dishsoap per gallon of water.Hopefully this will help. if i can find some neem oil localy i will pick some up.
Heat i believe is affecting my plants big time. The leaves dont look as healthy anymore. and i noticed lil bit of rust like color on one.

I moved down the top shelf covering up the big exaust hole,and using just using the small one. the Temps are 81-90 latley(plus its been super hot in thecity latley). TOO HOT (i might just raise the shelf up,well see.)

I find MH light are SSOOOOO much hotter then hps?

Unfortunatly i dont have a camera until next sunday,i will take pics then.
i was gonna attempt to make a cooltube for the 400hps when i flower,but im thinking i should make one for the 250mh right now.It might help with the heat,but my exhaust is only a powerfull cpu fans,,i have 2 though. so i guess i will TRY those with the cooltube even though its not optimal.
until i get my vortex 6inch running Quietly ..thats all i got.
When i get my camera i will show u the cooltube contruction.

You know, you could stick a few CFL's in there insted of the MH seeing as your plants are still at a very young age, it would get alot cooler in there especialy if there cool whites. Just a thought.

I just started the germ process with 6 ppp seeds, so this is like a preveiw 4 me. Thanks GREEN.

I ended up making a cool tube for the 250 and had it all hooked up,bt after about 1 hour i took it down... just like i thought the little cpu fans could not pull the hot air from the cooltube and the pyrex tube was way to hot,couldnt even really touch it. On the bright side i know how to set up a DIY cooltube..
i think i will set it up again just so i can take pics and show how easily it can be done.

Ok so im on the 2nd week of veg. I removed the top shelf and that alone helped with the temps. at the hottest right now its like 86 degrees...not great but better then 90+...hope to have my vortex running for flowering if i can make a muffler and get a carbon filter.

Thinking of topping very soon (although im worried that could hermie one of myplants)and only go 2 unsexed plants..any thoughts ??????

your grow is looking good i have a 250 mh i use too but i think im going to switch to a 400 watt mh for my vegging. overall looking good.

thanx for droping in Romdog11,gl with your grow,,if u can control the heat,switching from 250mh to 400 later on is smart. I find MH in general are too damn hot..hps is cooler,and overall a better light. Im rocking the 250mh and cant wait to switch to my 400hps

SO anyone have any comments on the thought of topping them right now?

Im just a bit worried it might hermie one of them..maybe im over reacting..

Well i'll talk to myself some more...
I just ordered some Neem oil ,Speed controller(for my vortex)and pocket microscope.

I believe my biggest problem now is bugs in the soil and eating the plants i think .I feel i shouldnt have even tried to use a bit of bleach with watering to kill the bug-well with organic atleast..it might have killed some beneficial bacteria in there or something.. so im never doing that with organic again.
I'm almost embarresed to say ive never used Neem oil before,so i cant wait to try it out and hopefully it will fix the prob. Ive never used a microscope on a plant before so im also looking forward to it

the weather is getting cooler week by week
The cab temps are at 79 night 82-86 day
so at least the temps are managable for now...now to kill those fckin bugs!!!

Thnks Kade Yes they did stretch alot when they were seedlings..ijust buried them under some more soil,so they would support themselves better.
Hopefully the neem oil fix's my bug probs..man looking under a microscope is fun!!! its another world

It's not fun when you find intruders though...but agree with the scope thing. I use a 6x reading magnifier and it's awesome. I regularly check anything that looks out of the norm. Good luck with the neem thing as I never had much luck with that and mites. You have to be religious in your applications. If trying to stay organic you may wanna try something like Fox Farm's Don't Bug Me or Safer's End All. Both have pyrethrins and the End All would be better going into flower.

cheers mountain i've heard nothing but good things about neem oil..so i will stick to it for now. i'll post results.
ill be using with watering,,and as a foiler spray.
.... i only got a pocket 30x microscope..the only prob is ,im lmited to the tiny hole i can look from lol i wish i could see more at once...thats why the reading magnifier u speak of sounds good. Peace

hey steve nice grow hopefully they will both be females. your pics explained the initials lst that I been trying to figure out for the past few hours, so thanx.

a few questions if you don`t mind.......

first. how high do you grow your plants before flowering?

also when you start tying down the plant is that just before the flowering phase? if not is it advisable to crop the top growth to make the plant grow outwards before flowering (someone told me this and i`m not sure whether to believe it or not) It does seem reasonable as he and I both have limited space to grow.
also what height do you start flowering?

I have more questions but as this is my first grow I`m gonna take my time.

any answers you can provide will be most appreciated.
