no-I'm not talking about the cheese, the cheese is the sheese-I was told and have read here-gonna have to find the link but I don't have time-Exodus also holds a cut from '88, the exodus '88 skunk is it called?? I dunno-but if it's from '88 it most likely is before Sam was able to isolate and remove the "RKS" pheno....and from everyone I have heard from here in Cali-where until about 10 years ago I could drive through neigborhoods and KNOW they were growing skunk-best was when you drive through a neighbrohood year afetr year and for a couple months it was just solid RANKING-the cheese is definitley NOT the RKS, maybe it is the UK version, but not here...weirdest part is though over the past 10-15 years the nieghborhoods would get less and less, to the point where in my area it has been over 3+ years that i've come across that funk...but if you know it, then you know the smell, immediately...
So the guys with the Exodus knowledge, do thy still hold that cut???

sorry mate i think the cheese and the '88 skunk cut are 1 and the same. the cheese i think, was found before exodus had started ie in '88, and when the grower became more involved with the exodus crew, he passed the cut along...

i definitely would like to try a RKS cut though and compare them, are people on here still looking for the RKS or has someone found a cut yet?

bummer the cheese is the same cut-the cheese is some funk-at least the cut going as cheese out here in cali is-but she is not the RKS of California old unfortunately---but cheese is a keeper no question

to take a guess id say the cut you discribe is Cheese,,....found in 88 and passed in 89..

do you think the Cali Cheese cut is real??...mine is so stinky, the whole area will make you twichy, it will go trough 3 brick walls with no "phat filter"..id say it sounds like Cheese has the best parts of that old Afghan everyone is missing

the reason why i like the sound of the PSYCHO clone, its because i here it has the same BANG in the smell department as Cheese,,,,,would you guys not say, We seem to be following that stinky Afghan??.....

It's a Cheese cross IMO...

The seeds produced from Psycho were indicative of sativa crops (small seeds)!!

Buddy,, RKS is a myth,,, (wasn't even a variety of Skunk),,, like garlic bud and green crack is.. just hype on an old variety man,,, lol !! Like Cheese,, it is just an old Skunk #1 cutting ..,, but I bet ya it smells and smokes much like what you folks call 'RKS'... an Afghan leaning skunk type.. small and smelly.

Now listen,, the stuff you got high on was likely 'Skunk x Afghan',, (not to place words in ya mouth),, we called it 'Super Skunk' back then. Pre-2000 this variety would take the pepsi challenge over ANY of the skunks being named here on this thread... on smell ,, (we know this since we've grown most of them) :wink:

Grown from seed the smell was so intense,, we had to just laugh it off for fear of getting busted.

can't call it a myth whe you used to be able to drive through neighborhoods all through cali, for weeks at a time and it smelleed..no no...wreaked like you had just run over a skunk...just wreaked like skunk. Bro, I have lived in cali all my life, the RKS is no myth, whatever the make up, just skunk, possibly skunk by afghan as Samn has stated he thins it most likely is what people call RKS...regardless, it was no myth...I haven't grown the cali cheese cut, just rooting it now, but I have smoked it, and again, super stinky dank, no question, but RKS no...and Rick, I haven't been across the pond, but someone pretty well respected her has been and caught up with someone out there who has her, and told me the smoke was the same in his opinion, I'm sure you have turned to him for his descriptions of OG, but I won't put him on front street here yas know?
and yes, the peoples backyards I KNEW the stuff was coming from, all were seed growers, but somehow, out of all the years people grew the super funk, no one thought to take cuts or make new beans---guess it was just that consistent of a find,(not like the cheese-which as you guys have pointed out -was nearly one in a million) but once you run out, you're out---lesson here-make more beans!!! lol
bottom line-cheese -not RKS...and have to say it again, if you have ever been around the RKS, ever driven through a neighborhood that had even 1 RKS in the back-you KNWO that smell--it's kind of like the Cali OG's, you can say you know, but if you don't know you just don't know, and if you do know-you will never forget...and Doc---this is no way a statement you don't know, you've obviously done out many skunk variety's....

ackk, just realized i'm throwing off the thread...regardless of the cheese being rks or not-this psycho cut looks very special itself, and if it funks like the cheese it's def not a bad thing :jump:

Allmostoverit ....i think i know who your talking about ....english man in cali, i think this guy talks true,,,but i heard that he though that cali Cheese cut was fake "at first",,,but later that was retracted....i dunno,,,i agree with you,,,,,Rks is not Cheese,,but if Cheese had other parts of skunk like garlicbud it might start to take shape into rks

so psycho is a skunk IYO doc?......not an NL x BB with skunky bits?

Can now officialy say that ive tried the Psycosis, like cheese but with something else in the bckground, less of a head fuck than cheese...after smoking the bud, i havent got the urge to grow it again. :joint:

Defo, for me its like the Psycosis is the thing i didnt like about Cheese, with only a hint of the terpene profile everyone loves with the famous Skunk#1 cut. :joint:

Nice herb, i just dont like it.:D

The Exodus Collective changed chapter to Leviticus :rasta:

The seeds would be available underground,, by friendship and word of mouth.

IMO Psychosis grows longer lower branches, at base node,,, hence the phyllotaxy is slightly different. Psychosis also yields slightly more flowers, although less compact,, under the same conditions. Psychosis takes slightly longer to mature,, gives slightly smaller seeds per sepal than Cheese does with breeding, and the buds hold a different resin profile completely IMO. (i's guessing Psycho would pull lower grade bubble in sacs.) :wink:

The smell and taste are unmistakably 'cheesy',, so Cheese is in there somewhere,, but the scent is fruitier overall. When growing Psychosis smells less. When smoked it smells less intense...

A spliff of Cheese has the ability to skunk-up the whole neighbourhood,, flat-line... whereas Psychosis doesn't, it's much more forgiving. The vibe of Psychosis is also much more uplifting IMO... and has much more of a party vibe happening than Cheese does :dance: bring on the Psycho's Sister,, pon LLP da ganja man :yes: :canabis:

Then again,, maybe it's all psychological ,, and we're ALL just playing with the nuance of vapour.. either way we likes it.. :joint:

thanks doc,,,top explanation

i do like the sound of the more forgiving smell,,,and the extra yeald,,,sea of green looks to be a good option with this one,,,it seems to gow less side branches....cheese only bulks in the last few weeks,,,a week ontop sounds ok.

im not into comprimize on the intence flavour,...like Bean said the terpene profile has to be in the same league as Cheese,,,intence flavour is what i love most about weed,,,Cheese is one of the only smokes that hits the spot with me..

if the sweetness is top class and there is little decline in intence flavour,,,its quite posible Psycho might be better than Cheese

well i've generally confused myself, i've got;
2 cuts of cheese that are meant to be the real deal, but they've come from different circles of friends, and they grow differently...? maybe these cuts were treated differently on their travels...?
i also have;
psychosis
psycho-berry
and cheese x northern lights
and i should be getting the original cheesexblueberry (stilton) soon.

man, that is a lot of cheese.

docs right there is some serious cheese in psycho i reckon, i'm reckoning the psycho could be cheese (old school skunk) x superskunk (old school superskunk), as previously speculated.

all the plants smelled similar, obvious differences in smells though.

gonna try and minimalise my cheese/psycho collection, but can't work out which ones to cull.

btw rick is growing some serious cheese.

I got to try this Psychosis cut at the weekend and it's clearly a Cheese cross, not as tasty or potent as the Cheese, in fact potency is not that strong at all, in fact I wonder why some of these UK cuts were kept in the first place, can't be due to superlative quality cos they aren't much above average, must be because they were easy to grow and gave a decent yield of stinky shit.
