Project Reject - Design help wanted

Well decided yesterday had to do something... Buds look ok... But sooo Small - for being relatively close to finishing...

Decided to give a whirl to the molasses technique added 1tbsp of blackstrap.... See if I can get 'er to bulk up a bit... Fish don't seem to mind; though we did loose one earlier yesterday (unknown reason). Hopefully we'll see those buds packing on some weight...

Did a major cut back of the second harvests now, topped em everywhere - they were getting REALLY tall; hopefully that spreads em out a bit so we can get some decent output off the buds that are left - and wont hit the heatshield.

Third generation - doing good; the bigger plant now has roots down into the DWC, clone that just went in - is perking up and bulking up nicely....

Getting close to that first harvest I'm thinking... Plant 1 - Front left... Will be first, that little shorty on the right - finally doing better... She'll be second Had to do a bunch of pruning on middle left and back right so they didn't overgrow the cabinet...

Still dealing with some pH issues - add molasses pH goes to crap... But bulks up the buds like mad... So... ?! Molasses stays, just having to pH the system 2-3x per day (about 3-4ml of vinegar - just to keep things in context).

Might have snagged a couple buds off plant 1 to test...

And the Goldfish are getting HUGE!!! Were about 1/2" - now close to 2"... They like that NLS food and all the mysis...

Still plugging away on this... 3rd plant harvested now; camera's not co-operating today... Got close to a 1/4 off the first plant, 2nd less than an eight, 3rd just a little over a quarter (Eyeball in baggie weights here) 4th plant should be a lot more... Getting things dialed in still - following two plants will be sh*t - that first clone shoulda been vegged for a lot longer before going in...

Reveg on plant 1 isn't going well, looks like I may just loose it... Plant 2 - probably next plant to go back in - it's finally switched back to veg and is starting to put out some shoots (might just use it as a mom?).

Need way more fish & volume... That will be coming up pdq :joint:

Ok....am I the only one just sitting and shitting around, waiting for an update ???!!!

(just kidding....but, update....pls?)

Probably the only one sitting around waiting for an update :)

Camera 2 is fucked, wont focus properly... Harvested that tiny clone; nice thing about the aquaponics - is once dry - smokeable, no harshness no cough, gets better with age - but definitely not harsh like most commercial crap...

That sativa that didn't like getting topped - is getting close to harvest; it's 'topping' made it in - it's already half the cab height after a week... It might need to get topped as much as I know it'll complain...

Got a new plant in - very indica; putting on some massive growth in flower... Should be a promising harvest :)

We're not quite off commercial yet - but damn close :) And the butter is GOOD :D

Here's how we look today... Still having a bit of a fruit fly issue... So slowly transitioning to rockwool & hydroton...

Added an automotive "ionizer" in front of one of the fans - has really helped keep smell down.

that new girl in back right - gonna be a big producer I can tell :) Tons of sites already... Middle left - thats the clone'd FIM of the Sativa thats about to harvest... (She got topped recently too).

Loving this aquaponic based approach, still using minimal amounts of fertilizer to supplement, but it's easily smokeable once dried... Very smooth flavour, no coughs... It does get a bit better potency with some curing, but it's minimal...

That itty bitty clone i was so happy about - resulted in a single joint at harvest... But Holy crap was it potent... didn't want to get out of bed for a full day...

Once the sativa's harvested - my troubled child (blueberry formerly known as #2) will likely be going back in... She's got a few nodes out now, going to try to let her have another week of veg... But we'll see how that goes...

I like this idea of aquaponics...now I just hafta work out if I wanna use it and if so, how? hehehe:)

How big a tank can one get away with?...I have a 180 Ltr plastic drum th@ might be ideal as a tank...I would then have to recirculate it through the cab into the res and then back out again.

Instead of gradually building up fish #'s as you did, do you think I could put a filter in the drum/tank with the fish and gradually use it less as the plant uses more nutes?

If I wanna keep the nutes @ 10*c-21*c, would th@ be ok for the fishies?

Filter would need to run constant - it's job is to actually convert ammonia to nitrite then to nitrate... Keeps the fish alive, doesn't adjust/affect nutrients - that can be adjusted based on feeds though ... Feed less - less nutrients, feed more - more nutrients, K is pretty easy to manage with all feeds, same with N - but there are very high P foods you can use for flowering... Ie frozen mysis and some lower quality flakes...

I've been having some minor issues of late - got the nutrients pretty much dialed in now... But the plants are using so much mg/ca that I ended up with a pH crash this week (took a dive into the 2-3 range) resulting in a sulfur lockout... And a few ugly looking leaves on the sativa...

Will take a picture later - plants are looking really good right now - flowering nicely, and sitting at an appropriate height for this stage of flower... Will grab a shot later :smokeit:

How would mag/cal fare in the fishtank?...or would foliar feeding them their cal/mag help?

Ya got @ least 2 of us paying attention:)

Well I'm right now supplementing the ca/mg using CaCO3 (lye/pickling lime/calcium carbonate for sidewalk ice removal) & epsom salts - Looks like about a teaspoon of each per week is enough to keep the levels up... Still owe you guys that picture huh? Pretty happy with the current run - as I get things dialed in, and figured out - I'm definitely seeing better yields coming up... One of the indica dominants in there right now looks like it'll have a nice yield coming up... Think I've got things sorted pretty well now - everyones toped to about 6" from the lights - and putting on some bulk right now...

Still need to upgrade the heck out of the tank & add lots more fish, having to use way more nutrients to keep the plants happy than I want, but that's a learning process :)

Thanks all, camera just not co-operating... Closeups just don't focus for some reason; time for a new camera... :joint: Maybe next month... I'm just happy I'm managing to get within 6" of the heatshield :joint: I might just figure out this growing thing soon :) They've still got a lot of bud to pack on I hope before they finish...

everything is looking great they should start to really take off soon for you.

Happy 420! Sorry bit late, just finishing up chopping two girls down :jump:

Better production this time, probably end up with a 1/4 each givrtake... The two girls - one mostly indica one mostly sativa - both were rather dissapointing in yield... The next two girls have some good sized buds coming (roughly lighter sized with a couple weeks left). Both went back into veg chamber for reveg - but not sure if I'm going to run em again... Rather pissed off with the two of em; indica dominant one will most likely get another chance, sativa - well she's sucked on two runs now; think she's likely a gonner.
