nice pics my friend... and the buds starting to look frosty
so 1 of the BxSH is purple !? cool i had one too that was purple...still have half a jar of that one..cured for over a year..great smell and flavor and a nice high
even though my repeated mistings seemed to have effect - it was only momentarilly and now again the spidermites are back in action - it sucks since i noticed that some plants are quite heavilly affected with even a bit of fine web on some leafs.. this is seriously one of the biggest mite infections i ever had..
i can see now i need to use a systematic insecticide before i move to my new grow quarters /home - if i dont want to have this problem for ever..
ok - some pics
lets start off with SSH x PTK
this lady got into flowering with a weird start - if u all remember she suddenly got a weird mutation and all growing tips got very odd indeed.. after a heavy pruning and a few good doses of nutes the few tips left started showing hairs and now these tips have become quite interesting looking
i can see this time she is going to to get even moe chunky than normally since all the flowring power of this fairly big plant is concentrated into 2 nugs so its going to be a few but very resinous nugs out of it this girl still got a couple of more weeks to go and its going to be fun to see how different she really is going to get
i certainly hope the oddities is not going to affect flavour or high - it shouldnt but u never know.. atleast its packed with glands
also quickly ill just show a few pics of the clones and moms. they are under mite attack... i hope its not going to go too far too quick - my sis with her kid is here on visit and i dont want to use insecticides with kids around..
ok next up is the mozambique.. this lady is sensitive for the spidermites its interesting since the other plants right next to her have much less of an invasion of mites going on..
still i think this quite big girl is going to give a nice amount of bud - although i got to say its a hell of a lot more stretchy this time - but i expect her to behave differently now in a pot about twice as big as last time - thats a much more bigger pot realy - from 5 liters to 12...
she is taking a bit more time than before also - but i think its just about to stop the stretch and start packing on trichs, and fattening up the buds
cant wait for experiencing this exotic flavour soon again
this JD (johnny deep) johnny blaze x deepchunk is a treat specially since i thought she had died in the summer heat waves.. in fact her name tag was upside down - and i was misstaking her for an other plant untill a few weeks ago when i actually took time to have a closer look hehe
this plant is big - it has 4 main kolas - even though this pheno doesnt get very big fat buds - its going to be of very nice quality with out a doubt i really enjoyed her the last time
Think i'll have to grow the SSHxPTK next...yours looks so nice
To bad about the spider mites being back but i'm sure you'll get rid of them one way or the other !
the cascadia keeper of mine - "sleepy" as i call her since thats the effect. i hope this time the 3 big bushes i got of her is going to be of the same incredible quality as last time or better this pheno is not one that u smoke at work if u want to be productive hehe..
this pheno is very light-sensitive and there is buds getting out all over her - i bet i would have gotten bigger top-buds cutting down the undergrowth more - but this way i get a lot of nice spliff sized nugs - just the way i like it hehe - and the i get a lot of BHO and hash material from the smallest nugs - not to even mention the amount of trim this harvest is going to result in..
it hasnt really gotten into the later parts of flowering yet - but in a week or so it will start fattening up nicelly. i bet it will take an other 3-4 weeks before she is ready
the Super G is a nice staiva dominant smoke and a a peculiar look to the calyxes - lets see if now when the temps are lower - the buds might get a bit different - but allready now i can see its starting to stack calyxes in the same peculiar pattern but maybe a bit more dense than last time (during the summer).
The BD x SH is getting a nice purple tone in some calyxes - i bet in colder condicions it would get a very strong purple hue.
this far this reveged mom has the smallest buds of all my plants - and of the other phenos i had of this strain - the other ones were fatter - but they didnt survive the reveg - but i still got more seeds of this wich i think im going to plant quite soon.
as u can see this particular pheno is maturing fairly quick - and i will reveg it once again since i dont have clones of her.
last but not least is the LDS (LSD #4 x deep chunk)
this girl is BIG - its got a strong vegetative force with surprisingly quick growth thinking about her deepchunk ancestry - well this lady got fast growth, fairly eary maturing and a good amount of resing - and on topit seems it got the flowreing time very close to the deepchunk - but much bigger buds - maybe not as tight and compact - but definetly nice
the smell is sweet skunky and with a touch of acidity.
the only drawback i can see on this pheno is the fact she needs to get tied up to be ablen to suport the bud weigth - since the stems are quite flexible - they seem to bend down wards very easilly. out doors this might be good since in a heavy rain the branches should not snap - rather just bend. i still havent seen this aldy grown outdoors - but soon enough it will go into a green house when i built it i expect it to get enormous
i know now the plant i had with no name-tag is LDS.
next big photo update should be in about 1 weeks time depending on how much time i get over with my buzy schedule
yeah they are frosty and getting better - but i just realized many plants have so much spider mites i migth have to make BHO with an enormous amount of very nice buds - it sucks - but at the same time its going to be fun to have a load of BHO for cristmas.
in spite of my decision of not cutting any buds before time - i cut today one nug of the cascadia before the mites take control over them. it was a potent and a nice high, surprisingly enough this early.
also heavilly affected by the mites are the top nug of my ssh x ptk, some top nugs of the mozambique, almost all the rest of the plants too - but not in such a big amount.
its way too late to do anything besides hope for the best. if im lucky i get a handful of actual buds that are smokeable - and the rest will go to oil. im still about 2 weeks minimum from harvest - and i expect the attack to get worser by that time.
this also means its not going to be as fun to take pics.
what im thinking about of doing is to either make a mixed oil with all buds - OR make separate extractions for each strain.
Awesome garden Bone. Sorry about your spider mites I had an issue earlier with the mites, but they were only on the TomHill Haze, the Cascadia and Johhy Blaze were not touched.... I don't know why.
I used a spray with botanical pyrethrins in it. The spray can be used on edible plants up to the day of harvest. I am not that trusting, so I used it about 1/2 way through flowering. The mites are gone. I have not done another spray, our humidity here has come up to about 65-75%, which is spider-mites do not like.
Can you raise the humidity in your grow room?
Awesome flowers. I have a cascadia that is much like the mom side of the family. When I put her into flower, I made the same mistake and did not do a good job of trimming the lower buds. What a mess of a plant. It was like having an afro in high humidity...jejeje
She did produce 4+ oz of 1g nuggets. She has the old school flavor, with very little G-13 influence. I am thinking of using her for the next round of seeds. Sounds like the cascadia you are running has a strong G-13 kick.
It is fun catching up on your thread. What is the issue of smoking the finished bud with spider mites in stead of turning it into hash or oil?
The pyrethins are only good for the mature mites, it won't kill the eggs, so multilple applications are needed. Which with the size of your garden would be a pain in the ass. Hopefully raising your humidty will slow them down.
How long till you move? Are you seeing any mites on your clones?
im still continuing with mixed feelings - its obviosly going to be a nice harvest with chunky buds but the mite thing is the draw back..
i have put up the humidity level - not much else to do
going to take pics this evening of the development of the buds. but quickly i can say the LDS and the SSH x PTK are the quickest to get fat and chunky - the SSH x PTK is the winner as allways. the LDS has a slightly smaller calyx size and resin content and higher leaf to calyx ratio.
the JD is just now starting to fill up those long buds reaching for the roof, i know within the coming weeks it will get very nice to look at..
the cascadias are getting resinous and they are budding quite nicelly - but it seems they have a lot of fattening up to do still. last time it took quite long time to finish flowering - at least a few weeks more than the SSH x PTK
the mozambique seemed to get thinner and airier buds than before - but i think it still just very early to say for sure. it can have to do with its size - the long lanky branches might take some time to fill up. i dint really pay atention on flowering times - but i know its about max 4 weeks or similar from harvest - a lot more will happen
the super G is getting funny looking buds as allways - its a treat to see - even if i for the moment dont really know if its a productive strain yield-wise - but resin content is very high - its just the fact the buds are kind of not so enormous at the moment - for that i need to plant a clone instead (this is a revegged mom)
the BD x SH is getting more and more purple - but now i can see this is not the chunkier pheno i had - thecalyx are quite small and also the resin glands are small - my green pheno of this same strain was really good - but it died during reveg in a heat wave.
