He's a lucky guy.

If I ever win the lottery of a few mill, I'm gonna buy a shit load of land in the middle of nowhere and build myself a self sustaining family farm/cattle ranch.

The dude should have waited a couple years and started his little farm. Its sounds all romantic but in reality its retarded.

He signed that contract in ‘09 and made $25 mil from it. He was cut in ’12 and decided it was time to move on despite interest from other teams. He had been in the league since ’05.

More power to him, sounds like he now wants to give back.

Sweet potato pie…yeah!

I know where this guy is coming from. There is something deep inside that drives some to plow the earth and sow a crop. I've got 65 acres of oats popping up bright green right now. I love it. It doesn't pay real well at all but it seems worthy to grow food for livestock and people. It's always a battle with the elements too. Bugs, no rain, heat, hail and all sorts of ways to fail at something that seems so simple.

Important info there^^ He has a fallback plan with a few million dollars I would guess. If he was broke and doing this, whole different game, which would likely not end too well.

Well this guy is going to be broke and fucked in life within five years. No offense but this guy sounds like a complete moron.

No, you Sir, are the complete idiot moron, who clearly doesn't get it.

Firstly, you have zero knowledge of his financial situation, nor many other variables. Way to spew out some dumb s*** though, fool

I really like this story on multiple layers. I am not religious, although I lived at a zen monastery for a while and developed strong discipline and wonder at simplicity. That this man achieves inner peace through farming and gardening is understandable enough to me, and anyone else who gardens and farms. This guy made enough money to follow his bliss. Maybe he is the smartest guy on the planet. Maybe he sees that all the talk about shit don't mean shit, and he is actually doing the good that others talk about. Growing for money changes things. But not everything. Being able to grow stuff but not having to worry about the money would be a wonderful relief and I can imagine the joy this guy feels at giving it all away and knowing his work is doing so much good. Bravo, attaboys and high fives all around. At a time when so much fucked up shit seems to be going down it's good to see someone is doing it right. On his own. Because he can.

Do you know what i like on multiple layers?

It's a Ronbo post.

Always accurate, insightful, respectful, and most of all the truth

Word.

TBI = traumatic brain injury

I'm happy for him, he's setting an exemple for others
an exemple that you can do what you want (as long as you don't disturb others)
and you can go far if you use your mind

and he's going after his passion, which I think is great, farming and feeding people

I wish him good luck

Time is a tool we created to better understand and use our world.

The true shift begins within oneself.

The phrase, has begun, could be applied to any time.

The time of the shift is not what is important, it is the change itself, an unmeasurable force that know's no time.

"The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can't be any large-scale revolution until there's personal revolution, on an individual level. Its got to happen inside first." - Jim Morrison
