Price of Electricity

It’s looking very grim with the recent crazy shit of sky rocketing prices for electric. In the U.K. from October it will be cheaper to run lights from a diesel generator than from the mains. We will have power cuts throughout to ration the electric supply. It’s beyond fucked up in the U.K. right now. Who else is having to scale back ? I’m going from a lot of lights down to a 400w personal type grow using 12/12 only.

I moved from California to New Mexico. I can do my indoor grow and leave every electric appliance in house on 24 hrs a day(of course I don't...lol) and my monthly bill isn't even 25% of what it was being extremely careful in California! It's CRAZY. After 21 years there and now two back here, it still doesn't seem real!

We (in the uk) knew about this decades ago. No party up for election could do what needed to be done though. People are very good at saying no, and burying their heads in the sand regarding consequences. Things like global warming for instance, simply don't exit for many. Now they can't deny it's getting hotter, their argument moves to it being a cycle that will recede. Their are always voices that tell us things are fine, and undermine the efforts needed to carry on. Our lack of power generation investment is just one.

In France this is the same !!!

Sanctions War: French and German Electricity Prices Up by 1,000 Per Cent over 2021 - https://www.breitbart.com/europe/20...-prices-rise-by-1000-per-cent-over-last-year/
France, which unlike Germany has not abandoned nuclear power, has still been impacted by the gas price shocks, and is currently suffering from significant maintenance problems with its nuclear power sector. Currently, only 24 of 56 nuclear reactors owned by the state-owned Électricité de France (EDF) electricity company are operational due to issues with corrosion, driving French electricity production to a historic low.

bro, things arent that bad in california
i do just fine with my half candle a night and in the winter i splurge on a monthly lump of coal
im just waiting for the rolling blackouts to take effect again; luckily temps have cooled down lately (here by the coast), so the less strain on the power grid during peak hours
how is the water rationing out there?

what are they doing about producing energy in the uk Ca++
solar isnt really a viable option, or is it?
one day we will unlock the power of the atom and have free cheap energy!

Haha...oh man... rolling blackouts...ugh...my favorite was the electric company just shutting down power when windy rather than clearing decades' worth of unserviced power lines! Amazing what lining the right pockets can do for your business!
But even with all that, and more, I love California. The best ....analogy?..I have is....I loved California, but it was time for me to get off the ride! Lol

Bugger all really. Many years too late they started to build a few more nuclear plants, but it's takes aaaages. There is wind and solar, and some hydro. We still have some north sea oil. We get power from France when we can't meet demand, but that looks unlikely as the rest of the EU are reaching out, and willing to pay.
We do a lot with future sources. We managed to contain that hotter then the sun plasma, and keep it going without a meltdown. While producing more than it used. There is a huge build going on between a few global players now, but a huge part was coming from Russia. While the project leader is likely to die before we find anyone that can fill his shoes. Some say we need that device to continue life on earth. As all the free stuff won't cut it, and the waste from nuclear keeps piling up. So isn't sustainable.

The iter website holds the info, but these pics are a bit like watching them build something for an intergalactic space craft
I thought I had seen a few things, but that project has me wanting to volunteer

I live in the SoCal desert and my electric bill has been $550 to $600 the past 2 months. The A/C runs just about non-stop in the daytime. In the Winter is was under $250 every month.

Thank god for LED lights. Back home, my old HPS and halide lights and fans alone were about $150 to $200 per month. I am running about 450 watts and about 4 amps right now. Probably under $100 at SoCal prices. Not all that bad.

I can't wait until everyone is driving electric cars and the demand for electricity triples. If the lifelong tried and true measures of capitalism hole true, the price of electricity will become only for the rich and famous. LOL

My TV and hot water boiler - decided to crap out on me recently - so I'm not going to bother getting them fixed - the electricity savings are huge already - went from £10 per day to £2 per day on the electricity cost - I'm not running any indoor grow currently - just balcony - with lots of free sunshine -

- Looking at the cost of electricity projections in the media - can leave you feeling depressed - since they say its going up 500% - itll make indoor growing much less profitable for those growing commercially - with electricity costing £1 per kilowatt hour -

Right now we dont need heating - but that's gonna change real soon - but judging from last winter - which was particularly mild - I've invested in a good base layer - fleece and jacket - and warm trousers/socks and shoes/boots - and will see how long I can go this year without having to turn on the storage heaters - which consume mucho-leccy -

I bought air source heat pump mini split. Very efficient compared to oil popular in my area. I slept in 52F room most of last winter.

I've never heard of that Loc Dog - does it run on electricity? - if so what does it burn per hour?
It heats and cools very efficiently using electric. I bought Mr. Cool DIY unit in USA. $1800 for 24K (good for about 1400 square foot). I should have gone up to 36K with 4 air handlers (for different areas controlled individually), which may have been close to $5K. Works down to 5F. Search youtube for video's.

In the last few years I've converted to LED's in every room and replaced the dimmers I had. Just recently in the g'room which i'm really happy with, the HPS's needed replacing any way, so they have paid for themselves on electric saved already. I was 72 the other day and i'm not going to be a dinosaur, I'm adapting to the LEDs because I think they are the way forward (well for me they are).
It's like all the blah blah blah about the LED v HPS comments (yield, quality, smell, terpenes etc), most of the people that i sell my extra product to (mines lovely) aren't that discerning and just want a reasonable smell/taste/smoke to get them off their tits. It's my pension booster.
I've got a 10 year guarantee on my lights, so should be alright till I'm 81, haha yeehaw
