precision cooling hoods using outdoor and indoor air

smurfingherb I hope this thread helped you.

IF not, I hope someone else will stumble upon this thread and learn something from it.

I wish someone has informed me of these things sooner.

spaghetti factory!!

I try not to take things to literally, since weree on the interweb.. lol

After more thought, your comment may have been taken offensively.

You ask a questions then other put in time and effort to help you, then you come back and make a comment that may be taken as a insult.

Or from another point of view,

your comment may also give the impression: you don't want to put in the time and effort to create a optimal enviroment to grow cannabis.

i.e that spaghetti factory is too much time $$ and work to do.

That is one impression you gave with your comment.

Your solution to your original question is here.

use a motorized duct damper along with timer or humistat etc

So please share your solution?

others will also learn from this experience.

All positive, no offense intended.

-Peace

ohhhh, thats why he got shitty with me? I think that comment was taken the wrong way. I wasnt tryin to make fun man, i have never heard someone use the term spaghetti factory and thought it was funny. Youve been a great help to me dude and its much appreciated! I think im just gonna cool using basement air until outside day temps drop below whatever temp the basement is, and then use the outside cool air. Im thinking about having 4 600's on each side of the room with each row having an 8in. vortex fan pushing, and then connecting both lines at the end via a Y split duct piece which would have another 8in. fan on it pulling air to the outdoors. Would anyone advise against that?

why would u want to have it pull from your room where your running a/c ?
it will just make your a/c work harder and raise your room temps....
in ever set up i have ever done with cooled hoods i ran from outside to lights back out side never from the room to outside. unless there was NO a/c in the room it self..

even pulling 102+ air to hood n back out still cools the room more then as to pulling the nice cool dehum'd air from your a/c

just my 2 cent's.......

I'm glad I came across this thread. As for the spaghetti factory thing - I used to have a section of my return a/c duct blocked from the furnace, holes cut into it and 4" runs to each 1000w hood, then fans blowing back into the return that was attached to the furnace. SO I pulled cool air from the upstairs through the hoods and blew it into the furnace. It worked pretty well, but damn if all those fans and lines of tubing weren't a bitch to work around.

I still think this is the best way. But I wonder how to bring in fresh air during the cooler months... I hate the idea of paying for co2.

hey strain i just got a ?

are you running from hood into the inake of your a/c then having the a/c dump back to your room via duct?

is that what u mean by "furnace"

that seem's like it would be spendy... y not run 2 fans n duct them in/outa the room then in colder months you could just unhook the out of the room part and blow right to your room cooling it that way not needing a/c

Nooo, the hot air from the room goes into the return air duct. This is my setup now... I guess it should say "air handler" not furnace, although it serves both purposes.

Your furnace/air handler pulls warm air back from the room, cools it and blows it back into your room via the ac ducts. My thought is - if I'm cooling my grow with the ac, I should have a return in that room or the rest of my cooling system will be out of whack. Turns out this setup is the best yet.

If I setup another show in the future, I will pull the return room air directly from the hoods.

Does that make more sense?
