Double branching was common in my (Gashmoygle x Golden Tiger) f1's, I had about 6 plants display this, a few of the f2 plants, like 2-3 have this trait but the lower branch forms much later, like a dwarf limb. Likely recessive.

Grew nice flowers but it was a bit too much on the plushberry side for effects, the branching was useful for taking clones.

Looks like a mosaic plant virus, not a mutatation. Infectious, so I wouldn't breed with that since it can transfer to offspring.
You are right!

I couldn't imagine that a virus would only infect one half of a leaf. In fact, the phenomenon has now occurred on another plant from a different breeder.

I have to assume that this is an infection.
Possibly the Beet curly top virus.
