OTH X SH, switched to 12/12 3 days ago. Some already had preflowers, 3 females so far, including the best lookin plant. Her leaves and structure lean a bit more to silver haze male parent

I normally top my plants but it would be like being the Grinch with this one. Will bend her over and grow her somewhat sideways.
picture.php

Another female but looks more like the OTH mother (pinched and bent stem a bit)
picture.php

Her stem is a lot thicker than the pic makes it seem. It’s so thick I expected it to be hollow but it’s hard as a rock like her OTH mom.

Bending her over and growing her sideways should give you quite a few nice colas. She will do well bent, she has decent internode spacing, fairly consistent branching length and symmetry. Hope she is trippy, sounds like a great cross. Nice job, she is a beauty!

Peace, God bless

Love it when they show color early on. Best finished off with a sprinkle of frost. :)

This is (Hindu Kush x PCK) x Silver Haze:

Popped a bunch of these as backup in case I wouldn’t have enough female OTHxSH, which I do by now. So they’re slightly neglected... noticed the colors and early frost so I’ll try to save a few and grow them.

Some male pics before I partly butcher them to make space...

OTHxSH male1:

male 2 (roughly 3x larger than male 1):
picture.php

Male 2 looks a lot like OTH mom.

I'll use them both just to create some OTHxSH f2 seed, but will probably use male 2 on another cross too (called P in my Albums). Got a male P in flower so I can go P x OTHxSH and OTHxSH x P. P is a very piney haze hybrid with too little haze, which I'm hoping to fix with some OTHxSH.

Should have some frosty pics in a few weeks... maybe months :)

i like to use aluminum foil around the clear containers. especially if re-using the same container in successive grows.

it keeps the algae from forming

i had bad experience with algae (it could have been other things i did, but the plant did better when i wrapped it up with aluminum foil.

i just wrap around and let the exess get folded under the bottom to make a cup which keeps its form when i take it off and out it back on.

it lets me check the roots and keep the algae from growing.

In my experience it never bothered them but I agree that's normally a wise thing to do yes. Especially if you need to keep an eye on the roots. Might attract bugs too.

This one just isn't potted up to a larger black pot because I knew this was a male early on and will have no problem dropping plenty of pollen left as it is.

Below is an older pic of the OTH mom, in a 2 liter bottle (the male in the mojito is in half a liter), topped of with a thin layer of coco:

Takes skills to keep a plant happy in such a small pot... Congrats man...! :)
Used to do that 30 years ago but had to switch to bigger pots when i took the organic way... never been a very skilled guy... ;)

Thanks. I just let them do their thing and try not to interfere. That’s my main skill, letting the plants grow themselves. Really all I do is give them a little house and garden aquaflakes A and B mixed up in water. I don’t measure ec or ph or use additives. Pretty much impossible to drown in perlite, and easy to effectively flush. Admittedly not as much fun as organic or as monitoring and controlling NFT, but I get more consistent results in perlite spending less time on it, and that allows me to focus on observing the plants.

...So they’re slightly neglected...

Kept 10 or so and a couple of them look as colorful at this stage as the PCKs I've grown, including the red grandfather of these.

I've rarely been so curious to see the results of so many different traits in one cross. Colored bud or not, effect of low yielding PCK, effect of monster SH, any haze hints left, any distinct taste or just blend. The HK mother wasn't your typical og kush either, less compact but good yielder. Mixed with large yielding SH, longer flowering, more layers, it could be great, could be horrible... I guess I'm pointing out to obvious for others crossing Ace genetics :)

Been working on a ZamxGuatemala line it's at F3 now... when I made the F3s I also pollinated a Zamaldelica fem (lucky 13!)that had intense resin production so I could bring a touch more crazy Zam trip to the party.

Here's the selected male that came from that (ZamxGuatemala) x (Zam13) cross:

I started 5 seeds in each hole and strongest two or three got to live another three weeks. Then another cull leaving only the strongest in each hole to continue. So theoretically it was a selection of about 50 plants but vigour from seed was used as a way to cull most right off the bat. In the end it's a selection from 8 strong males (I didn't even look for a girl in these seeds yet.. just tossed em. I'm curious but I have too many mothers as it is.. I'll look later.)

He was originally selected for intense smell and a structure most reminiscent of the Zam13 I was trying to incorporate into ZamxGuatemala. As flowering progressed I grew more impressed. He is the stinkiest male I have and tho yield is low he produces HUGE amounts of pollen and more and more standing trichomes every time I look at him... he also has been thru a freeze, drought, root binding and light stress with no hermaphroditism.

First time really selecting a male from more than one or two others and feeling lucky to have found one I think I like so easily... guess we'll see how his progeny performs before I get too excited tho.

And the current F3 of ZamxGuatemala that is probably going to be mother of F4s as well as mother to a sister line of (ZamxGuatemalaF3) x (ZamxGuatemalaF2 x Zam13)
She's about 15 days from flip.

I'm dying to smoke this one already! Reeks of Strawberrys overtop of Zamaldelicas floral candy. It has pink pistils! I know Guatemalan has shown pink hairs outside but I didn't really expect (lol I totally was hoping tho!) to see it come out in this line let alone inside.

Wow Yukon, you got your breeding going on, even after losing so much in the freeze! That is one tough stud too. I hope it's some super trip weed, you know, by the time you realize you didn't need that second toke, you know that 3rd toke was a big mistake, haha. I know you love that kind of weed, "the kind".

Peace, God bless

The F2s were great... all the Zam trip but with a cartoonish goofy vibe from Guatemalan that took a way some of the really scary edges Zam can have. Terps were fruity with mango strawberry citrus being predominant... some were more sour than others as well. There was a Guatemalan dominant pheno that had lemon and jungle funk going on but I preferred the more refined and compact phenotypes with more Zam influence. I've been selecting towards everything I recognize from Zam but also for the strawberries and so far so good.

The Zam13 that I'm bringing into the line was ALL the crazy Zam roller coaster trip bomb we look for. It never got a cure and still had way more (super) electric clarity than the terror I had in another similar pheno. I'm pretty hopeful that one or both lines coming from above male will be absolutely stellar.

Then I'll stabilize and outcross. I have an even better stable of possibilities now than before the freeze as I got a bunch of dark horse and Karma gear to replace lost treasures.

Granny Haze
New release of Brothers Grimm Cinderella 99 female (green #4 pheno) x ACE Purple Old-timer Haze male. Here she is at 8 weeks. Cindy shortened the height, internode, stretch and flowering time considerably. Need to test some more. Also did a Purple Granny Haze

drying but taken early approximately 9.5 weeks need more time.

A few more. Reminds me of Nevils Haze. Hoping to test more in the fall.

8 weeks

Also 8 weeks notice the sagging calyxes on the stem with elephantitis! Wondering how this will turn out when she is taken to full maturity for sure! Maxibloom may have tainted her smoke taste but it seems to go POTH.

Nug 9.5 weeks needs more time too.

I thought I'd get around to writing a short report of the cross. It's really nothing to show, I've kept a clone that I will try and keep small and force flower this summer to get something a little better. I also hit the plant with pollen from a male from the parent cross..

I'll see to those seeds next year, this year I have to try and keep the green line alive since the seeds are getting old and they are generally more potent plants.

picture.php

this was in a mason jar since late october, I pulled the air out with a food saver jar adapter.. I opened it yesterday and the smell is still very strong, it's a thick perfumey smell of small forest fruits.

it burns in a thick frankincense aroma with hints of lavender..

now this isn't a very potent plant, the psychoactivity is quite low and the buzz is probably one of the most "indica" like buzz I've had. It gets you stoned to the bone, literally feeling numb to the bone.. the head is a mixture of clear thoughts but with a spacey and stoney head that really prevents you from acting out your thoughts gracefully.

it is funny as the first time I smoked it, it was in scissor hash form and I found that to be stimulating and euphoric.. the nepalese was similar, the bud was crippling with a buzzier head than this plant but the hash was so much smoother with a tendency to get lost in whatever I was doing.
