I'm so sorry to hear of your loss Chimera, my dogs are my only family now and I know the pain you're feeling bro. Jake was so fortunate to have your love and caring for him over the years.
I can't tell you the feelings and pain will pass quickly as it never does for me whenever I lose a fur baby.
God bless you bro, I hope you find some comfort soon.
i am so very sorry... i popped in to check on jake only to realize he had passed...i don't even know you guys and i'm falling apart here... it's cuz i know how i would feel if i lost one of my kids... i hope this isn't out of line... pics of my family to share with you and your partner...
Aw man, I am so very sorry. I've been there too Chimera, it's so hard to lose them. :-( I'm glad you and your lady are there for each other right now. Much peace and healing to you both. Maybe, soon, you'll give another wonderful dog a new life and loving home.
Jake, I hope this finds you romping in the best dog park ever, surrounded by doggie friends and with unlimited bones to chew on.
If the good lord had not placed Jake with you guys his life would have wasted, instead he found you guys and going by the sound of it was as loved and cared for as any pup could ever hope to be.
Remember the good times and take solace that he had a great life while he was in your care, our furry friends hate when we are sad both in life and in death, which is nothing but a transition at the end of the day.
Here's a little poem that has helped me through some dark times after some of my pups have passed.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Just as you guys will never forget Jake, he will never forget ye and as sure as the sun rises you will meet again when the time is right.
Me and my pups will press our paws together in prayer for Jake to make a speedy transition to rainbow bridge.
Stay strong for Jake, he does not want you guys to be sad.
Terribly sorry to hear about Jake Chimera. We are on our second rescue dog and it has been the most rewarding experience for us. To take a dog that wasn't given a good quality of life and then to introduce it to love and warmth is a very powerful and positive thing. To see the change in them is awesome. I know he meant the world to you. Ours does to us as well. When we had to put our first rescue dog down we cried for days. The house felt so lifeless and empty, but then we found our current dog and she has filled the void in our hearts. We don't have kids so our dog is everything to us. I know you'll find another Jake. His place will never be filled completely, but you will find another dog to love. Soon I hope. My deepest sympathies.
Damn bro I am so sorry to hear this Jake was one of the greatest dogs for sure our boys and girls will definitely miss his visits. I can still see him lying facing outwards out of the poly-tunnels keeping lookout for bears, coyotes or intruders as we we walking through checking out the plants. He was one of the best grow dogs we've ever met for sure.
We're all howling here. Best wishes for Jake's travels we know he will handle them with grace. What an incredible dog he was.
I have 4 rescues, I'd take more if I could. It would take us several lifetimes to repay what we have been given from these eternally happy, loving souls.
Let another one into your life when the time is right, for Jake
It's so beautiful to see so many of us relating to Chimera's story of Jake and the dreaded day when it comes. Chimera, you should be a writer, because I was brought to tears with your every word about Jake.
They are our four legged children.
Your story reminded me of all my great dogs that passed in all the different ways, and cats too. We don't ever forget them, and the pain from their loss eventually fades into Rainbow Bridge were they are happy, playing with their friends, as they wait for us to cross over someday.
