Water is what everyone should be worried about not population growth.. We can't have much of an impact on population growth as individuals but we can start being smarter about water usuage.

Study population growth. Desertification. Melting glaciers.

Then you will see the Earth is headed towards a very interesting time. will we utilize technology with nature so we can sustain a larger population or will we compete for resources and kill each other? The Glaciers are disappearing, the rainforests are shrinking, grasslands are turning to desert in huge numbers. The earth's population now is not sustainable. western culture lives a the peril of the 3rd world. Eventually there will be mass migrations of populations to other already populated areas. this will result in mass genocide.

The perfect storm is brewing for humanity right now and the population will shrink drastically one way or another. the earth can only tolerate so much of the human parasite.

This is depending on if we can resist a world wide nuclear war before that happens. there is about a 50/50 shot.

invest in desalination in about 5 years. It will be the wave of the future. I can call this stuff I think. I told people to invest in gun and ammo companies if obama wins because sales will sky rocket. I was right. I said double down for his second term I was right. Too bad I had no money to do it myself. Those other people made out well though.

When I was in high school I predicted Bush would take us into two wars.

I predicted that the first patriot act would start the very fast unraveling of the bill of rights. I was correct.

fuck all the traffic we have now

thats kind of my whole point: people dont need the level of luxury they are accustomed to

and i dont mean anyone should have to do without necessities either

but; when you have bumper to bumper traffic for miles on 4 to 6 lane interstates you have to kind of wonder how many of those people really need to be going wherever they are driving to

then you have things like shipping timber from the pacific NW to japan all while importing canadian timber to build in the PNW

matter of fact; fuck the timber industry too

and trucking isnt too far behind

I believe, above all else, that the Earth heals itself.

Remember reading somewhere that if the entire history of the planet were put on the face of a clock, humans don't appear 'till 11:59 and 30 sec. We like to think that we're important, but in all actually, not so much.

When the time comes where Mother Nature tires of us, she'll swat us away like a pesky fly. Then she'll start over, again.

top down planning = FAIL unless you enjoy poverty then theres no reason to complain. needs are not something objective observation by groups or anyone individual, can accomidate to the liking of every other individual. therefore even if you went with the top down approach, with your best wishes for the people to thrive you are just making everyone equaly poor.then there is the people doing the redistributing wich is the focal point for corruption like all regulators are now (What Is Regulatory Capture? ).they will be fine and rich for taking the bribes. and then we will see another form of social justice rally with no meaning behind it.just begging the masters for more support, regulation and to manage all of lifes problems.
im not seeing that people are getting the idea that its not one or the other person who is right or wrong its just everyone is wrong because they just cant know, only generalize, yes we all need food water shelter but its extremely arbitrary as to what is adequate and what is not ,and their lies all the unknowns and unintended cosiquences . wich will just make you and me statistical data, not human and easily ignored as a glitch if the experiment continues.
it should be sufficient for everyone to reform themselves , instead of everyone else in society.

the thing is food, water, shelter could be passive and {like native american view of property} belong to everyone {free?}

life doesnt have to about capitalizing on your fellow man/woman

if we had a government which simply protected us from violence, theft and, the like instead of a gov which promulgates violence, theft and, the like

um that's the problem the very nature of government is force fraud nd coercion.its seen as just a means to live at the expense of everyone else.therefore it becomes the focal point for corruption.

my position is that your correct when you say it could be passive to the individual but when government is involved it acts on objective opinion, correct or not from many people.it should be up to the individual if they want to comply of not.
your statement is a bit confusing because you use the term free, implying a cost, rather than ownership.if I get something free it doesn't mean its yours.it would be mine to give if you ask.

again if you were to go back and watch those three video's on economics ,and they are not that boring or difficult to pay attention too, they go through why people value things its just innate thing that we do to survive and evolve.thats why all governments are overthrown at one point or another, the locals get upset cause their slaves and they have to beg for everything while the rich live at their expense.thats what was good about coming into America,no king each person is their own. or it was meant happen that way.studying law also helps one to grasp that leagally speaking in any sense of law or justice.that one man forcing another to contract at the point of a gun,is null and void, any way you cut it.
that again is the position of government comply or else. everything the government does could be replaced by charity or third party escrow type services and consumer reporting services blogging ect... if they fail they die off you don't need to fight lobbiest ect...technology is so advanced too we arnt going to be riding horse back town to town to warn of attacks,in matter s of national defense,we can organize quite nicely if trouble should come calling.
there are lots of new open source technology opening up through the internet ,I seen a article yesterday saying they are printing human cells with a 3d printer, its pretty amazing if you think about those implications. the government just causes man to hate man,its just sad to think of the amount of people who love it.

Why are people debating this population thing?

Can you not do your own research?

Do you not remember having 8 billion on earth, say 10 years ago?

Its now 7 billion, and I think the number is actually dropping from all the innocence dying.

But of course this had to drift off into government and totally get side tracked from the subject.

Look up what Anonymous just hacked up from Israel on Wikileaks. Everything we are told is conspiracy is most likely true and it doesn't stop there.

I feel it not how many people are in the world but rather how those people live.and if its the current ""western"(cough American cough) standard then f-no.no way that can happen unless we really were visited by e.t. and giving (or discover) the mean of unlimited energy.even then the American style diet alone is unsustainable.we need to stop negliting this planet cuz even if we do something about population(control it) we still have to deal with the active pollution of our current society.that includes the land ,cultural ,and spirit

We hit 7 billion in 2011.

It was a record high.

That would mean that nobody remembers having 8 billion people on Earth.

We are like the cock roaches of this planet consuming everything with no remorse. If it wasn't for motor transportation and advanced agricultural techniques we wouldn't have this problem. Another part of the problem is idiots having sex with idiots and reproducing at an astounding rate, the idiots they raise keep doing the same. The movie "idiocracy" while stupid couldn't be anymore true.

Think of the globe as a giant aquarium or terrarium, which it really is. If you keep feeding the pest they keep reproducing, until population builds up high enough that disease and other problems occur. While I am a humanitarian I still don't get why we feed countries that are starving like places in Africa. We feed them, and they keep reproducing, making the problem worse. Everything is ass backwards no common sense left in this world.

No one cares about the advancement of humanity into the future, they only care about what is right in front of them.

My 'drop out' friend lives 100% self sufficient off of a 10 x 50 meter veggy garden with a growing season of just 3.5 months high up in norhtern Scandinava.

Been doing so already since 25 years.

By now he managed to raise a family with 2 children 100% off grid.

You put your mind to it and things can be done fairly easy.^^

I guess we're just lazy or dumb, but when the need arises I've seen first hand what can be done with just muscle power and a relative small plot of arable land.

Jacques Cousteau made a wise statement about herding & flocking fish instead of hunting them. Any population that doesn't replace the food taken from the ocean will someday starve to death.

The scripture says there's plenty and to spare, but the wealthy in this modern era will not share without being compelled to do so. Bill Gates is a small fish in a pond full of trilionaires and quadrillionaires. Of course these fiendish men keep their names as well as their holdings a secret.

When a few men gather in most of the world's wealth, and then hide it by forming secret conglomerates, the world's poor become targeted for genocide. Mayor Bloomberg sees a fat guy drinking a big gulp, he's disgusted and goes about banning soft drinks. Unless we uncover & dismantle the corporate takeover of the world, and find the thousands of tons of gold and silver they've stolen from the poor, it's only a matter of time before someone declares, it's time to eat the rich!

It's still a 'predatory planet' tho ILS.

Like in animal evolution, the carnivores (rich) will continue to improve themselves and stay ahead of their prey. (poor)

Their thrive to survive will dictate them to do so, while the poor on the otherhand will survive by the significance of their sheer numbers alone.

I'd love to see us going after the rich, but wich principle of 'human beeing' was designed to actually get us doing so?

I know of some race of monkey's that were tested for having rather 'low stress' blood level results in compare to humans.
Because always when one individual in the group tried raising his position, all other monkey's would go after him and beat him back down on his place.
It's kinda intergrated into their social genetic structure that had proven this system to work best on an evolutionary time scale.

Somehow in human evolution I don't find this mechanism already beeing intergrated into our social genetic make up.
'Free will' is probably what makes us the most challenging of all spacies. A trial of evolution as I came to see it.

Hawt Dayum, you are correct :tiphat:

I read some false information recently and I never really validated it, but it never bothered me that there were "8" billion of us.

Who gives a shit about population growth and lets stop the abuse of mother earth by killing ecosystems and entire countries of natural resources when we have amazing alternatives like bamboo and hemp...

And who cares about population growth when we produce enough food for 12 billion people... gmo or not lol

What is taking place is the aftermath from the eugenics studies.

The gov realized they need slaves.

Still think there are more profound subjects to discuss and solve.

Growing food isn't the problem. There never was 8 billion and population is still doubling fast.
