Greetings to all who enter.

This is my first grow of any kind, ever. I have been lurking around ICMAG for about 3 months now, reading, asking some questions and getting my learn on. I appreciate any and all input from all sources.

I am especially interested in feedback from the experienced soil and/or auto-flowering veterans.

Here are my goals for this grow:

Secure autoflowering seeds online...........Check
Build a 4' X 4' X 6' air-tight/Light-tight cabinet.....Check
Fill it with everything I need to complete a grow......Check
Collect Pollen from a healthy male and complete a seed run on one bud of my best female....In progress
Successfully harvest 3-4 ounces from 3-4 females of the six plants that are underway....In progress
Learn a few things along the way....and so it begins!!!

Day 11...Meet the Ladies

Day 11...Meet the Ladies

Germination was very successful (at least for auto seeds) 6 for 6 with three really taking off

Soaked for 12 hours then germed in paper towel on plate covered by bowl, left on floor heating vent for 2 days...nice healthy tap roots

Planted 1/2" deep in lightly moistened soil in current pots

Girls 1, 2 and 3 broke ground on Friday Feb 27th and the other three busted through on Sunday March 1st. (using that as Day 1)

Received first full watering on Day 3(no nutes) temps ranging between 65 F when exhaust fan is on and 85 F when its off. Humidity hovering around 45%

2nd full watering on Day 7(no nutes) temps ranging from 65 F and 92F...heat spiked because heater was bumped to higher setting. Seems to have slowed growth of the three plants closest to it...these were the runts anyways.

Day 11 Heater has been off since day 7 as outdoor temps have risen and basement is warmer. Humidity is up to 60 -70% most days. Temps holding very steady at 65-75 F now. Today was my expected watering day, however soil is still moist on all plants and Plant 3 looks like it's having issues.

Anybody see anything obvious on #3?

Day 16 Update

Day 16 Update

Watered this morning...went 7 days between waterings...plants seem to be fine...#3 still has drooping leaves (thought this might be overwatering, but didn't improve with time between waterings). Still haven't started using nutes yet.

Since getting temps between 60F and 80F, plants 4-5-6 seem to be growing strong. Humidity in cab is between 50%-62%

Even though Im calling this day 16, plants 1-2-3 are about 18 days since sprout. Female autoflowers should show sex around day 17...can anyone see signs of sex yet? Don't see any balls but males aren't supposed to show until day 20.

Any comments, observations are welcomed.

Pics of plants are in order 1-6...#2 still seems to be healthiest and last photo is a side shot of #2

Thanks for stopping by. Passive air intake is on side of box in photos where spray bottle is. You can see it in the exterior photo of cab toward front at the bottom.

Its not much but temps are good and keeps fan from sucking the floor up like it was doing before I added the intake.

reverse that. . . male autos tend to show first (day 14-17), while the females usually show closer to the three week mark. . . but everything looks good so far! :woohoo:

I N HAIL ...Feel free to comment along the way...I welcome the company.

Thanks Spacely...that's the weed typing up there I guess...So I guess it's a VERY GOOD thing they haven't showed sex yet? More likely females if not showing at this point?

Eh, it is what it is...I'm completely laid back about yield, potency...whatever, if I can bring 'em in alive all the way to the finish line...I'll be pleased. Wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised though.

Here's where I was getting my info on when the autoflowers show sex. I had it completely backwards.

Lowryder virtually does away with the vegetative growth stage: it passes almost immediately from the seedling stage to the flowering period. To our knowledge, Lowryder has the shortest known life cycle and height in the cannabis species. Male plants may be identified as such after approx. 17-20 days, while females show themselves a couple days later. Plants will even flower under a continuous light regime.

It's from the JointDoctors Official Auto Guide. I was directed to it by a couple of experienced Auto guys on another board. Here's the link if ye be interested.

Thanks much Canna. I think I like the cab even more since I built it from scratch. I checked out your auto grow...very nice yields and good looking ladies.

I checked the girls at lights on this morning and it looks like #2, my strongest plant grew balls. Oh well, I needed at least one for a seed run.

It's a BOY!!!

It's a BOY!!!

Sure looks like a male to me. Amazing there was no evidence of balls yesterday when I took the last photo up above and today there they are.

How long do I have to safely keep it with females in cab...I have a 400W HPS on the way for Flowering and would like to keep him in there until I have two sets of lights for seperation. I have bloom bulbs for this T5 so I can collect pollen from him.

You should be safe for a couple of days with the males. the females/potential females don't have much to be pollenated at the moment, but I'd still remove those males when the balls start hanging. good luck!

Day 20 Update

Day 20 Update

Well, it's been a busy day in the grow box. 400W HPS came in today and I needed to get those males out so I switched out the lights...wow...that 400 kicks out some light. Now I have exhaust fan running consecutive with the light... oscillating fan blowing up on the reflector. Temps after a couple of hours were holding right at 71 F.

Looks like 2 of the plants are definitely male. I killed one...1st picture shows the plant and roots.

Keeping the second, bigger male alive to collect pollen. Put him back under the T5 in my master closet until his pollen sacs burst. Weird or not that he is producing what looks like a nice bud on top?

2nd photo is of bigger male/side shot/ of pollen sacs.

3rd photo is of the bud on top of him.

Any comments or questions are welcome.

Day 29 update

Day 29 update

Three of the plants were male so it looks like I'm ending up 3 for 6, which was the lowest number I was gonna be HAPPY with, BOOYAH!!

Pollen has been collected and all the males have met with a grisly end.

All 3 plants have been a little droopy. Don't think it's overwatering as I'm waiting til the pots are VERY light and plants look like they need it. Some lower fan leaves have yellowed sides. Plant 2 is a little droopy but all leaves are spotless. On the other two, only the lower fan leaves have the discoloration on edges.

If it helps the diagnosis, my runoff PH has been a little low...about 6, so todays feeding was given at about 6.8...hope it helps get it up a little. Can't be sure but could wilting be a clear sign they are getting rootbound and need to be transplanted. I was getting ready to do this anyways as the three males I killed...looked ready for it when I ripped them out.

Second watering with nutes today (8 hours before pics)... using just under 1/3 manufacturers recco as they are new to it. Bionicare Pro Bloom soil, Liquid Karma, cal-mag and first hit of sweet as well.

Take a look and tell me what you think.

They are looking decent man for a first time. I have grown a couple diff autoflower strains out so if you need any help let me know. Also there is a whole autoflower forum here now on ICmag. I have ran more masterlow then anything though. Always glad to see another grower jump on board.

Transplant Complete Day 30

Transplant Complete Day 30

The ladies had rebounded really well by yesterday morning, so I decided to transplant them into my larger pots. Found a transplant method that was being billed as a SHOCK-FREE method and gave it a try yesterday afternoon.

Worked like a charm, roots were only exposed to air and light for about 2 seconds. Long enuff for me to see they did indeed need to be transplanted.

I went out to check on them this morning and HELLO...everybody is standing tall...leaves are springing back to life...all three look very happy with the move so far.

Fingers crossed.
