Please help design my 1st growroom!!

Air cooling the hoods on a closed loop, where outside air is run through the hoods and then exhausted back outside. This will remove a ton of heat and save you A/C costs. Having the 14" on a timer will work. You could just flush the room at night when it's cool out. You might still want another fan to just scrub the room. If it's hot and humid then you'll need both a dehumidifier and an A/C.

Addendum:

You were talking about going bigger earlier in the thread. I would get an A/C and dehumidifier that is sized for a larger size if you see yourself potentially running larger in the future. I think the larger units (of both) are generally more efficient anyway. I know I would have gained efficiency had I gone with a Santa Fe Dual Dry XT instead of a Compact. But the compact handles the job just fine anyway.
Im only going to do this 1 run here then Im moving. So I really didnt want to run Co2 or buy a sante fe.Im on a budget and have to make this work the cheapest way I can,at the same time run efficently.I plan on aircooling the lights, but I really want to use the "14inch max fan/can 125",to scrubb the room only, and not to use it to exhaust.

I see.

Maybe you can compensate for the humid air by having oscillating fans blowing on the buds constantly. I think the mold factor really has too many variables (RH, bud density, strain resiliency) for me to predict from all the way over here.

Run your lights centered around the coldest part of the night, which is usually right before dawn. Running from 8pm to 8am sounds about right. You should be flushing the whole room with air from dusk till a little past dawn.

Ok Bro......I read the thread and need more info on whatchas are able to provide for watts per sq ft as well as environmental control......

At first we`ve got mini-split`s and santa fe dehueys with sealed CO2 supplement , and now we`ve got 10 x 14 without CO2 , santa fe dehuey , nor a minisplit......

Gotta have more input OGKK.....Needta know whatchas are tryin to accomplish in 1 grow before movin......

Always gladta help , but without sealed and CO2 , yas gotta go with major air exchange twice per minute with 50 watts per sq ft to maintain environmental control lights on , but more importantly lights off........ scrubbing the room with the bigass 14" combo does nothing for providing fresh air and inherent CO2 in the air we breathe....anyways.....

Holler if I can help.....DHF.....:ying:.....

Im basically gonna just run 2k.Im really open to whatever method that will make this room run efficiently without it being sealed or using Co2.I guess my main question is can I use a windowbanger/cheap duey,to keep my temp/rh in check, and only exhaust, every so often,to replinish the co2.and if so whats the min. time that I need to exhaust,in order not to waste the Ac/dehuey.Also if I was to use the 14" fan/filter combo to exhaust the room,I wouldnt be able to hang the filter because it weighs so much.Would it work just sitting on the ground?? I know its not ideal.I hope im making sense. The only reason why Im only doing 1 run is because I found out I was gonna have to move after I had already started the seeds. Now I have 8 plants veggin, without a bud room ready. Thanks for chimming in!!!

I think I'm just gonna use the fan/filter to exhaust the room, throw a bunch of fans in there, and hope for the best.I'm doing heavy topping and defoliation so the buds won't be so thick, and I will be able to get some good air flow around the buds.Pm and budrot are my most concern.prolly will spray with some actinovate, and see if that help.I just wish I could figure out how o get this filter hung up on the ceiling.

I don't think the filter not being on the ceiling is a huge deal. If you wanted to raise it up a bit then setting it on a stool or a sawhorse or something would get it off the ground at least.

Having good airflow over your plants is going to cut down on the budrot probability. I've never had PM, but I hear Eagle 20 is the final solution for that.

Im running a simular room, but with a 12 in max and 5-600's.The 14in.seems a little quieter than my 12in.My 12.in.is very loud.I f I was you I would run Phresh filters instead of can, their a little lighter, and work just as good.A little pricey though.

You know with a fan that big you could air cool both lights. You could run either from a filter inside or an inlet of outside air, through the 14" fan and then have a Y that goes to each hood and exhausts the hot air back out.

Just a thought if you're a little shorthanded on fans.

Honestly I think a fan vs the required wye's won't be much different price wise. 14" to dual 6" is also a huge loss of flow - 63.3%. Its going to be louder and flow like crap. I suggest picking up a generic 6" fan, I have had one that has been in service for about 2yrs and works perfect, and another that has been in service 15mo 24/7 (filter) and works perfect as well. Costs about $85 from Amazon.

The weird thing about buying that from Amazon is that you may not get a CAP fan. I have bought 2 6" and 1 8", and one of the 6's and 8's each have been like the one in the picture, and then the other 6" was like the CAP fan. Kinda weird - they all have been working very well. I much prefer the design of the CAP fan, but its all the same honestly... I will post up some pictures tonight if I remember to take em!

Edit: I think you want to buy from VM Innovations for the CAP fan vs MTN Super Outlet which sold me the fans that look like the picture vs CAPs.

Yea I think I'm gonna buy the cheap 6in from amazon to air cool the lights.Any idea where I can buy some 14in ducting. Can't seem to find it anywhere.

Depot! Free shipping ftw.

I don't know your layout exactly, but hard tube is better all around, if possible. I only use a few feet due to how my layout is, wish I could do it in more spots.

Thanks gonna go grab some right asap. But you say hard tube,is better all around? Is it because of the better air flow.Im not sure yet which one I will go with.Ease of use is always a big plus for me.Also, what's the best way to stick the duct thru the ceiling.Should I just cut a hole in the ceiling, between the joist with a saw-zaw,and tape up the gaps,or is it a better way.Trying to do this without having to crawl thru the attic.

This person is right. I didn't think about how much of a loss that is. I retract my statement about using a Y.

Yes. Smooth ducting will give you much better air flow. If you're only going to setup for this one run and then move I'm not sure it would be worth it; that's up to you. Flexible ducting will work, smooth will just work better. And the noise from air flow will be considerably less too.

Oh and also, what size/kind of intake do I need?
How are you planning on setting this all up again? Are you doing a closed loop on the cooling? That 14" could be used for active exhaust (w/ scrubber of course) and then you could just have passive intake.

I guess I'm gonna use the 14in fan/can125, to exhaust, and use a 6in to air cool the lights. But nothing is set in stone.jus trying to make this work.did I answer or question?hope I'm not confusing u.

I think the cheapest setup is going to be using that 14" to scrub then exhaust, passive intake, and having both hoods on a closed loop: pulling air from outside, running it through the fan then the hoods, then blowing it back outside. Since there is positive pressure in the line from the fan onward, it shouldn't suck too much stinky air into the line. You will just need to make sure it is sealed up tight from the intake to the fan inlet.

Hopefully you live in an area where the nights are cool enough to where passive intake is going to be enough cooling if you only run the lights during the coldest 12 hours at night. I can't remember if I said it before but I think 8pm to 8am is going to be just about the coldest 12 hours you're going to get.

I live in a very warm and humid climate,so its going to be hard pulling this off without a ac/dehuey.Night time temps are in the 70's.Some time they dip into the high 60's.But thats now.I will be harvesting in June, where night time temps get as high as 80-82F,with some really high humidity. But Im hoping by cranking up the big ass 14"max fan, using alot of occillating fans, topping ,defoliating, lollypopping, being very clean and using some actinovate/eagle20,might lesson my chances of getting pm and budrot.

I have never cut holes in the ceiling, but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it unless I knew what was above it. Mainly it's power lines I would be worried about.
