put a small oscillating fan on them early so the stalks get strong and don't stretch.

also make sure they have enough light or they will get long and lanky.

looking clean bud!

i have a honeywell that doesnt oscillate. i bought three of them at target yesterday. is it critical that they oscillate?

also, right now the lights are off as i am on 18/6 lighting schedule. is that a bad idea? im thinking if i let them rest every day they might be healthier but at the same time i worry they will stretch while lights are off hahah. dont forget- its my first grow  thanks for the input brotha

what temperature do you recommend i keep them at? i have had my heater set at 80 since they popped. if i turn the fan on the heater turns on also and it consumes 1500 watts so im trying to avoid using the heater as much as possible ((im a cheapskate lol). think ill turn the fan on and lower the heater thermostat to 75. hopefully the fan by itself with lights off doesnt make it that cold

75-80 is just fine and 18/6 can't be beat I believe. When babies stretch it's because of lack of light or no light.Sometimes you have to take a pair of tweezers and help that seedshell meet its ultimate fate at the base of the baby or you could end up with deformed or twisted leafs.Occasionaly mother nature needs a skosh of help

thanks for your input brotha. I let my seedlings rest for the first time by starting 18 6 this morning. I turned off the light at around 11 and had the timer turn it back on around 430pm. I came home from work and it seems all my shorter seedlings stretched about an inch while i was at work! Wondering if its because i turned the light off?? If so, does that mean they gonna keep stretching every time i turn the light off? I also lowered my light to 24" today not sure if i need to go lower. is it normal for my babies to stretch as much as they did while i was at work? here's a pic of them i took as soon as i got home

I have no experience with LED's but hear there is not much heat to speak of,it's always best to avoid stretch by keeping the lamps physically as close as possible heat withstanding.I start my plants with 4 lamp T-8 fixtures.I literally keep them 1/4 inch above the seedling canopy after they sprout. Its also a good idea to leave 1/2 to 1 inch space free of soil or medium on top of the containers so a few days after they sprout, you can fill the medium to the top supporting the baby stems and helps to change the appearance of stretch.I have had babies grow into touching the flo lamps before without damage although its best to raise the lamps 1/8 inch or so daily keeping the tops literally 1/8 to 1/4 inch above the tops.Like I said before,I have no experience with LED's but I bet you can get them very close to the tops from what I hear.I just noticed noyd has a good pic of leaving space in the container for "filling in'after they sprout.I leave a bit more space than that but you get the picture

thanks for the tip man. Yeah, i had it lowered to 18" last night, went to a friends for a few hours, came home and it seemed my seedlings were kind of in a hook shape. I read that this means they are trying to protect themselves from intense lighting. so i raised it back up to 20" inches or so. Then i read later on that just about all seedlings will hook when freshly sprouted? So im thinking about trying to lower it again and see if they hook again. if they do, that probably means my lights are too low, correct?

Sounds to me like they were growing towards the most intense light source, like I said I know zero about LED's were they directly over the plants?i'm sure they were maybe some diodes in the fixture emit more usable light than others hell I really don't know.I do know that they weren't trying to shy away from the light source, that makes no sense.I have my flo lamps literally on top of them with the smallest of space in between physically possible, and they have never hooked to shy away from the light.Heat yes that's a negative but light?I don't think so but maybe I'm wrong lets hear from some others

I use 6 3590s in a homemade light in my 3x3 tent and leave it as high as it will go all the time. That puts it 42" above my media. After sprouting, it runs at about 2.6 amps and gets ramped up progressively from there as things go along. Try to keep the canopy no closer than 20" or so from the light.

That said, all I know about growing and LEDs it what I've read about. Only on my 3rd grow, all with this lighting. So far, so good.

All the work you've been doing looks great. I've really enjoyed your posts.

just a quick update on what ive been doing!

planted 6 Bodhi Goji OG seeds. 5 germinated, but i seem to have 1 runt who i suspect is in shock because a week ago its taproot grew upward out the medium and ended up getting dried out. I should've buried it so it could avoid the light and stay moist but i didn't know better. It seems like ever since it has been growing VERY slowly. But it is green and has slowly developed new leaf set. So it must be alive. Hoping it's just fixing its root structure before exploding in growth.

Here's some pics of my 11-day-old seedlings:

Anyway, wondering when you guys suggest I transplant my babies into the PPK system?

And when it's time to transplant, how do you guys suggest i handle the roots that have appeared to bored through the thermolam wicks? do i just cut as much of the thermolam off as much as possible?

Hey Phases thanks for your interest in my grow room. i stopped updating because i thought no one was following along anymore or cared. Here are some pics with what ive got now. Every thing has been a great hard-working learning experience and i feel like ive come a long way in so little time every thing has gone smooth so far except i ended up with 4males out of 5 seedlings.

Fuck! Almost all males. Such a bummer. Oh well at least you've got one pheno. That goji is supposed to be pretty legit. I bought $700 in bodhi gear about a year ago and everything that popped was male, worst luck I've ever had.

I'm interested in your grow and would like to watch and follow along.

How are you mixing your jacks?

Looking really nice! Can you put all your lights over the one plant for this run, veg it for a couple weeks longer maybe?

damn, $700 in Bodhi gear and all male? :jawdrop: makes me feel worse about my upcoming chances and i only spent a seventh of that lol.

I am mixing my jack's at 600 ppm give or take 30 or 40 depending. I just throw about 30 gallons of water in a tote and measure ppm of RO water. then add 360 ppm of jacks. mix pretty good for a couple minutes and then ill take a reading and adjust to get as close to ADDING 360 as possible. Then ill ADD 240 PPM of calcinit in same way i added jack's. i always mix jacks first. Let sit for at least 24 hours then i check to make sure pH is ok. i settle with readings of either 5.6; 5.7; or 5.8.

and unfortunately those four plants are five days into flower. i dont want to stress my female by trying to re-veg it. that would be bad wouldn't it??

i'm planning to just flower out the female for now.. im probably going to throw the three males in the flower room out tomorrow. and take the plant in the veg room and throw it in to flower to make sure its male before throwing that. then pop the other 6 goji OG seeds in a couple weeks to get ready for another pheno hunt while i have that one female clone in veg eventually will be trained as a bonsai mother for future grows if i decide to ultimately keep her
