[Pic Intensive] PC Grow from Seed - Beginner

Hey I think I found the maker of your case on myspace. I was just surfing around killing time (high as a mofo I might add) when I stumbled upon the name 'Grow Your Own' so of course I had to click it :rasta: It looks like the same case.
Here's a link: www.myspace.com/mrgrowpro

Grows looking kick ass btw. For future reference I get almost all my seeds to pop just by placing them in a folded up wet paper towel in a Tupperware dish and leaving them in the dark for 2 or 3 days. Once the white root tip it sticking out I place it tip down about an inch in some soil and in a week I almost always got greenies reaching for the sky :headbange
Lets see some more pic's!

MR~SCROG, that does look like the same guy. I'd suggest everyone check the link out, he has better pictures than I have on there.

Now for the update:

Here's a little picture of the inter-node length

Those leaves are looking thicky-thick, which supports my friends claim that it is a Kush.
I'm trying to figure out when I absolutely have to start flowering. I need the grow to be finished before May (I graduate May and will probably move towards the beginning of that month). Does anyone know how long Kush's flower time usually is?

Kush

Type: Sativa/ Indica
Yield: 400 + p.s.m.
Flowering Time: 9 1/2 -10 weeks

All the MJ I've ever grown grows like a weed (pun intended) when in flowering stage so I wouldn't worry too much about starting them on 12/12 while there smaller. You'll get less and might not fill out your grow case but hey it's free weed right, who gives a shit! You can do it longer next grow.
Nice tight node spacing, keep them close to the light and that'll continue. How many plants you got in there all together?
Oh and FYI that initial small yellow leaf you were worried about always turn yellow like that someone said. The plant actually canabalised those intentionally ;)

Thanks, MR~SCROG. 9-10 weeks doesn't give me a lot of time. I'm almost thinking about starting 12/12 tomorrow so I won't be rushed. At the very least, it looks like I'll start on Monday. You're right it is small (2.75 in / 7 cm) but it'll be worth it.

I only have the one plant, so here's hoping it's female. I guess it's time for me to learn more about scrogging. My first grow never made it into flowering, so I am totally new at the rest of this.

Id recommend switching to 12/12 slowly when you do, like a lil more darkness each day, as to not freak the plant so much so.
SCROG'in is easy. You got a good looking fence there so as the plants branches grow through it, say around 2 or 3 inches, then you just wanna pull them back down underneath and direct them to an empty spot. Fill the whole area up and then let um grow vertically again.

You sure you cant move the grow when you move? You'll be in flowering stage and you'll have 12 hours to get it somewhere and plug it back in.

Ok, thanks for the tips! It does sound easy. As for the move, I don't know where my job will be and if there's a lot of travel involved it won't be feasible. I do know one guy to whom I can give the plant to have it finished, but I don't know if something with his situation will change in the next two months.

Here's my plan, I'll reduce the time by one hour beginning tonight. I'll continue that so by Monday, I'll be in 12/12.

High rud! Well, if you're gonna scrog it, you should prolly top it as well. It certainly has some major indica chariteristics to it. You can prolly count on a 50-60 day flowering cycle. you need to finish by when? mid may? Id top her now and let the two mains develope a bit, then switch to 12/12 around march 5th or so. Its a tight space, but my guess is there WONT be alot of postflower streach. Yes, lets hope its a female as well...lol.
Peace and GL, bugout:Bolt:

Thanks TBug. I actually only have _until_ May, so I want the grow to be finished before the first, giving me about two less (precious) weeks.
From what I've read, topping indicas is rough unless they are around 8" high. I'm at 2.75" right now. I'd love to hear more opinions on this though since I am thinking about flowering so soon.

Ya I don't think you can top something that short either RJ, although Ive found in my own personal experience you can always proon like a mad man during flowering stage once the plant is big enough. I personally stick to the theory that if it ain't getting light its gotta go. So all the under foliage if it were my grow would be clipped in a few weeks once it gets to the casting a shadow point. Hope that made sense cuz I'm hella drunk right now :p

hmm,.. good to know,..
Too bad he doesn't have 3 females growing in that case, I'd really like to see that fence fulled out with almost a bud growing from every square :)

Hah, trust me, I'd love to see that too. (I'm also glad I wasn't the only one to post drunk in this thread.)

Everything's going according to schedule, cutting out one hour per day until I finally reach 12/12 on Monday.

by decreasing the light hours like that its gonna take twice as long if not longer for them to show sex

Thank you for that. I'm gonna do some more research about it since time is so important to me. I might have to just flip it to 12/12 tonight. Last night it effectively got 14/10 since I flipped one switch for night and one for morning.

Edit: Ok, here's what I've come up with. Even losing only 1 hour of light a night is very unnatural and likely to stress the plants the same as going straight to 12/12. It is desirable to reduce stress as much as possible though since stressing a plant that has not pre-flowered (like mine) increases the chance of causing a hermaphrodite. That said, I doubt an hour a day would decrease the stress enough. Besides, if I end up with a hermie, I could either pick the male dingleballs (technical term) off or leave them and get SEEDS! Not only that but, feminized seeds, which would definitely help my next grow a lot.

Ok, 12/12 starting tonight. After the lights go out, I'll switch to my 46W 2700K bulbs.

TWICE as long?... ...I find that hard to believe. I just went to 12/12 over the period of 12 days and my plants sex'd within another week. But he's only got one plant so it doesn't really matter how long it takes to sex. In this case though I might have recommended going straight to 12/12 if he wants fem seeds,.. almost better to hermi it.

FYI: You can also put the 2700K bulbs in a little at a time to further emulate a transition to fall lighting.

Sorry, I was going to update with pictures tonight after the first day of 12/12, but I deleted the pictures from my camera and don't want to open the case now that it's in a dark period.
The new leaves from above are completely grown in... it's amazing what a couple days can do. It really underscores how fast this plant grows. All the leaves are nice and flat and I lightly watered with a dose of big bloom today.
I just realized too, my seed came from a bag, so it's probably a hermied seed. That means there is no chance it could be male. Rad, that puts my mind at ease. All I gotta do is sit back and wait.

Ok, here are the updated photos. The plant has been under 12/12 for a day and a half now and the response for just this little bit of time is amazing to watch.

For those who are keeping score, this seed was planted a month ago and has been vegging for three weeks.

Where the plant was 2.75" a couple days ago, it's now a solid 4".

And here's a shot of a budsite. Obviously it isn't going to start showing sex after a day, but I thought it would be informative to take pictures and show new growers the changes they can expect to see when they are watching for it.

Great job on the plant.

I see you've been getting some questionable advice on 12/12. The plant is sexually mature when it grows with alternating nodes, somewhere around 6 weeks of veg. When you flip to 12/12 earlier than the plant is ready, it will try to grow as fast as possible and stretch a lot. This panic growth puts a lot of stress on the plant.

I know the PC growers try to keep the plant as short as possible. Training the plant under a screen or bending it over will to get more budsites and you can flower a more mature plant.
